What a hidden gem across the water from Edinburgh! Don't sleep on Queensferry while visiting…read moreScotland. It totally reminds my wife and I of our hometown in Monterey, California, except it's way better! This restaurant had views everywhere of the bridges and water. We were sat immediately and greeted warmly. The manager obliged my request to watch the end of the Wimbledon match that was on, thank you! We had bubbles to start and it was just completely enjoyable throughout our meal. We tried their focaccia (it was okay) to start. We had so much fish in Scotland but we had seen and smelled so many cows around the country we figured the beef must be good. We were right! We shared the steak choice for 2. Our medium steak was perfectly grilled: red, but not bloody. The onion rings were excellent!! Some of the best I've had and I used to be a server at a restaurant called "The Onion"! We were stuffed by the end of the meal. However, we got the sticky toffee to go and it was SO GOOD! Please come to this restaurant if you want good food, great service, in a beautiful location enjoy Orocco!

I wanted to love this hotel, but man was it uncomfortable!…read more This hotel is in a prime location off of the Orocco Pier. They have an excellent bar and restaurant. My problem was my room was SO HOT and UNCOMFORTABLE . I paid a lot of money for a room that had a broken air conditioner and windows that did not open. The bed was comfortable, but I did not get a good night sleep. I was so very hot. The bathroom was nice. It had a towel warmer and offered nice shampoo and conditioner. The bar and restaurant are very nice. The food And drinks were so good for the price. If you're from the USA and have T-Mobile, service doesn't work great here. I wouldn't stay here again and I would try another hotel due to how uncomfortable I was with the temperature and window issues.

One of the nicer hiltons I've stayed in recent memory. Really refreshing after staying in London…read more Our room was about 3 weeks renovated, still having that fresh drywall and plaster smell. Place looks great, has awesome electrical features (including green lighting, which I appreciate as an engineer). Bar and restaurant look great, staff is nice, gym looked good as well. Free drinks at the bar and breakfast (hilton diamond). If returning to the area, would definitely stay again. Only downside is how hard the hotel is to get to from the M90.

Queensferry Hotel recently hosted an event for the Sidecar Club, which I became a member of (even…read morebefore drinking!) during said occasion. What really sells the hotel is the stunning view back towards Edinburgh (though you can get some of that for free as there is a viewpoint at the hotel). The meal we had was pretty basic - some rather tasty leek and potato soup, followed by a rather odd combination of portobello mushroom with yorkshire pudding, some hard carrots and an overcooked sprig of broccoli. For dessert, my boyfriend and I shared a piece of Bailey's cheesecake and some profiteroles. To be honest, both desserts came out a box and not much else seemed amazingly fresh either - from the yorkshire pudding on. Saying that, nothing tasted bad, but I wouldn't go shouting about the quality of food here being particularly high, and most likely your aunty who likes plain food would be at home here. In regards to the breakfast - pretty spartan options of cereal or full English. Food wasn't stocked up on the buffet, so I had beans, tomatoes and mushrooms on toast, as there wasn't much other non-bacon and sausage options out there i.e. the desolate plate waiting for eggs that never appeared in the time I took to wait, give up, eat and leave. It wasn't exactly clear what we were supposed to do at breakfast either - sit down, wait for a waitress who didn't show up for sometime after I arrived? Was I supposed to hunt down a cup of tea? If so, the bugger laid low in the bushes and I was left wth OJ. In regards to the venue - as mentioned earlier, stunning views. The room we had was relatively quiet (although you could hear doors slamming up and down the hall in the morning). Rooms were clean and bed was soft but comfy. Would this be a place I would rush back to? No, but they did a reasonable job at looking after us and our event, and I don't think anyone was booted out after hours. A pleasant, if not remarkable venue.
