Why does no hotel in Europe understand the value of a comfortable bed? No matter how much you pay for a luxury hotel, you inevitably get two hard twin mattresses pushed together.
Beyond the typical European bed,* The Aurora Hotel is a fine spot to stay in Amalfi.
It's a little bit outside the main town so you don't have to deal with too many touristy crowds, but the view is amazing, the shades are fantastic at keeping the light out in the morning, the air conditioning system (in our room at least) is new, and the staff is lovely (but can't magically get the airline that lost your baggage to deliver it in a timely manner either).
I wouldn't drop the €10 per person on the breakfast, which was a little weak (although the patio view is incredible), but rather get some fruit in town and take advantage of my own amazing balcony. But that's me.
I would absolutely stay here again though.
