In late June and early July my husband and I stayed at this hotel in Amalfi for 4 nights as part of a two week trip to Italy. The hotel is located on the mountain high above the town of Amalfi. The views are spectacular. Each room has a balcony overlooking the sea, and waking up to this view every morning was delightful and relaxing. The room where we stayed was room 502 which has been recently renovated. The room was the perfect size for 2 of us, and included a bed, fridge, safe, mural, dresser, tea/coffee pot, bathroom with rain shower and a hand held shower, tub, toilet and bidet. There is a mini bar which we did not use except for bottled water (cost of 2 Euro). I know we had housekeepers, as our room was restocked and serviced beautifully daily, but the housekeepers were like ninjas. They were in and out but we never saw them. The front desk staff and bar/restaurant staff were so nice and friendly and humored us as we tried to speak a little bit of Italian. Each day included a delicious breakfast buffet and made to order eggs, pancakes, and coffees/tea/juices. We had a tablet placed in our room to order room service and communicate our needs to the staff. Included in the room is a very handy shuttle that runs throughout the day to take guests to Amalfi. Some local restaurants will send a driver to pick up and drop off guests who are dining with them. If you want to experience Amalfi without the noise and hustle and bustle then this hotel is a perfect fit! read more

The hotel offers a respite from the hustle and bustle of being in town. The pools is beautiful and has plenty of sun beds for lounging as you enjoy the view of the Amalfi Coast. There is also a game room area with pool tables and other games, and many seating areas with a beautiful view. Included as a service is a hotel shuttle that runs throughout the day to take guests to Amalfi at designated intervals. My husband and I dined at the hotel restaurant our first night and for lunch and some late night snacks. The service was great. Most of the food we had was good. We ordered a pizza late one evening and found it to be undercooked in the middle. We got spoiled by the crispy pizza crust in Naples and Rome, so this was a bit disappointing, but not enough to change my rating of 5 stars. read more

We stayed at this cool hotel for 3 nights & had a great time. We went during a very busy time of the year and noticed while searching through the hotels in Amalfi, they all have a level of vintage appeal that you just can't avoid. Once you can come to terms with that, this place has plenty to offer at a pretty good price in the Amalfi. * The staff took this place to the next level for us. Super helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. They were able to set up everything - your day's itinerary, dinner rsvp, towels, private driver, holding your baggage after checkout, suggestions, advice, etc. It made it much easier and that's what a vacation is all about. * The hotel has a shuttle the runs on schedule to the city center and back. You also have the SITA busses (not that great of an experience) that is right across the street. I missed the bus on two occasions so the hotel sent me Antonio on a Vespa to take me back! What an experience! This does help in planning your day and saving on taxis. * The hotel has it's own private beach which is really nice given you don't have to pay for beach chair and umbrella. There is a restaurant there along with a place to change and use the bathroom. It's well equiped for all your needs. Alessia was at the front desk and she is a total angel. * The pool was a highlight since it is so clean and nice depth with a majestic view of the Amalfi at the edge. It was one of my favorite features along with our hotel balcony. However, there is no handle rails so be careful getting out of the pool. * The views from this hotel are absolutely spectacular no matter what angle you look at it. * The breakfast is good. You have a good amount of variety of choices and they do keep it fresh. Coffee is also made to order, and you can eat it outside at a table with umbrella for more of an eyeful of the gorgeous Amalfi view. - The downside to the hotel is that the place is in need of a major update. The carpet in the halls are stained and could do without this. The room is spacious but the bathroom and bedroom decor are outdated. The beds and the linens were not as comfortable but just basic. ALSO, THE ROOMS' WALLS ARE VERY THIN! You could hear the neighbor's conversations when present. It was weird. The one good thing was the high ceilings and the breath taking view from our balcony. Overall, we had a good experience at this hotel and I would recommend it for the value. +++ read more

My wife and I stayed here four nights and we really enjoyed it. The location on the cliffs provides sweeping views. The rooms have a large private balcony overlooking the sea and is quiet. Amazing pool. What makes it exceptional is the helpful staff who are friendly and take initiative to help make your trip smooth, from arranging travel to minor details that need attention. Not grand , barely mediocre. Nice views. Food was horrible Beds extremely hard A/C ha ha ha NOT try to get bucket of ice bar manager said it was impossible. At 400 euros a night I was furious. He gave me two plastic glasses with about 5 cubes each. It's 40 degrees C And the pool was closed. I will not recommend this hotel to anyone It's dated decor and infrastructure is definitely not worth the 400 euros. read more

Again, love love love this hotel!!!!! My fiancé and I came again this year and loved it and we got engaged!!!!! They remodeled the pool and it now has a beach entry, very cool! Staff is so accommodating and attentive. I honestly don't know why people are giving such bad reviews. The rooms are nice, gives a true authentic Italian feel. read more

Great hotel, beautiful views. Although some rooms could use some updating. Our room was cleaned very well and it was noticeable. The only thing that was inconvenient was the 15 min ride down to the beach or the center of town. (The two main tourist attractions) My family didn't mind the bus ride because the views were lovely but the problem is that the hotel bus only runs about every 45 mins to an hour so there was usually a big wait time due to inconvenient bus schedule. read more

The hotel itself has old world charm but the star of the hotel is the dinner service and the breakfast buffet. Far superior to the other hotels we have stayed at in the area. The food was absolutely excellent for the price point and the restaurant itself looks over the amalfi coast! Also, the wait staff had such an incredible attention to detail. I highly recommend eating dinner here if you can. Amazing experience and they may even bring you out a little dish compliments of the chef! :) read more

Booked our room in March . Received a CLOSET for a room . Upon checking in and numerous times during our stay asked to be moved to one of their rooms that were standard for the hotel . We were told we were the UNLUCKy ones to be assigned this room . Staff was so non caring . Overall, the view and the food are great but not the bedbugs! If they are busy, you may get put in one of the less desirable rooms. The day I arrived, the young girl at the desk was very enthusiastic and grabbed my suitcase which had my jacket drapped on top and dragged it with my jacket getting caught in the wheel to my room. Sadly, she put a big hole in my favorite jacket! The rooms all have the same view pretty much and are certainly great. If you don't mind being on a cliffside with narrow roads going back and forth up the hill that you would risk your life on if you try walking anywhere, and are dependent on the hotel's shuttle bus and its fixed schedule. FYI, the hotel's private beach area was NOT free -- it was 10 Euro EXTRA per person per day and was not worth it. After a bus ride, you go to this cliffside small building where you take the elevator down to the cave opening to the beach. It was a HOT pebble beach so bring proper watershoes--not sandals or flipflops! Nobody was there. Better to go to the pool or Amalfi beach. The hotel room was small. There was a small fridge with stuff for sale and a note that you are not allowed to bring in outside food or beverages or to store it in the fridge!! BEWARE at dinner, as they charge (a lot) EXTRA for the water, and wine (of course) and you will get a surprise when you check out! The dinner is included with the hotel stay and my compliments to the chef! Everyone gets a table on the terrace overlooking the same view and it is very nice. There also is a morning buffet breakfast on the terrace overlooking the pool and same view below. I was with a tour company for the first two days, and then I extended my stay two days but the hotel insisted on moving me to another room. I was moved to the main floor by the main elevator with an obstructed view. I noticed I got a bite that day so I was wearing my Mosquito repellant bracelet all the time even at night just in case of mosquitos. I noticed the mattress was different than the previous room, and it was a memory foam. When I woke up in the morning I had a series of bites on my arms despite wearing my mosquito repellant bracelet. Later that next day, I showered and dressed for dinner (after spending the day on a boat tour,) and was sitting on the bed reading, and then went to wash my hands to go and saw a small apple-seed sized beetle like bug on my forearm near the 3 bites! WOW! I didn't want it to bite me so I brushed it off quickly into the sink! As a nurse, it looked like a bedbug to me! I inspected the bed sheets and saw what looked like little bedbug debris...the mattress was a memory foam, different than the one upstairs. I went to the front desk and asked for another room as I did not want to sleep in that bed again that night. The same young girl was there and said that was the last room in the hotel. She seemed to always be laughing like everything was funny. I showed her and this other fellow at the desk the bites and what I saw. The man did not speak much English and he said it was a NEW mattress. (Hmmm, wonder why they put a new mattress in?) He came to pretend he was inspecting and just opened the sheets and looked at one edge and kept saying it must be mosquitoes! I tried to explain that I was wearing mosquito repellent bracelets and the windows were closed so that wasn't possible. There was a headboard and frame he did not inspect, nor the tiles and cracks in the floor--nor did he acknowledge the black specks of bedbug debris on the sheets. I said I could NOT sleep in that bed and would be forced to sleep in the bathtub if they did not have another room. They just smiled and shrugged their shoulders. I was glad I was leaving in the morning. I got the extra blanket out of the cupboard and tried sleeping with the light on ontop of the bed but awoke with two new bites on my thigh, again despite wearing repellant and all windows tightly closed. I just couldn't sleep in the bathtub. I suspect it was the last available room because it may have had bedbug complaints before and that is WHY they had changed the mattress. Bedbugs dont just live on the mattress folks! The whole room needs debugging, including headboards and cracks in floor beneath it. Beware of bedbugs here! I reported it to the Hotel Manager in the morning and showed him the bites and described the small bug I saw and he told me to get in line to check out to pay my bill. He spoke to the girl at the desk. He got angry when I asked for "a refundo, credit for one night at least because of the bedbugs. He ripped up my bill and told me to --"Just leave and never come back!! --the sooner, the better!" WOW. This was the bald manager guy who was so rude. Such poor customer service! I was sad that my stay ended like that, and that I have to post this review. I would never return there. There are other better hotels in the area to choose from. I gave it two stars - one for the view, and one for the chef. read more
