This review is based on my experience at the cocktail bar. I did not get a chance to dine at the hotel. I'll start by saying the service here was excellent. Dash was an excellent server and very attentive. The snacks they gave with our cocktails were also delicious. The cocktails were good. Of note, in Italy, cocktails are just basic mixed drinks but they were still well made and tasted delicious so that's what matters. They also had an extensive cocktail list which was nice as most of the Amalfi Coast doesn't have an extensive cocktail list. The view here is gorgeous. It is a really nice romantic place or also just a place to watch the sky change colors as the sun goes down. It's a phenomenal view. read more

This will be on my list of unforgettable experiences. Although I was not on a honeymoon or proposal - I will treasure my stay at Hotel Poseidon and Positano. Service was top notch, the owners constantly said hi to every single one of their guests and everything was ...just magnificent. We got a free upgrade the first night to a suite, beautiful balcony views and large room! They moved our luggage the following night to our reserved room and I loved our view there as well. We dined at Il Tridente the first night and food was superb! Make sure you try their deliza limone! I will never forget my days here and Hotel Poseidon topped it off with a relaxing, beautiful and comfortable stay. They made us feel like family :) read more

Pulling up to this hotel we were in heaven immediately just seeing the view from the ground level! It only got better when we got to our room. We were told we didn't have the largest room but definitely the largest balcony. The balcony was definitely huge and we had different options of lounge or regular chairs to sit in while laying out. I loved the little window we had to climb through to get to the balcony. The suite was a good size, the bed was not so comfy but do-able, and the bathroom was nicely decorated. Loved the robes and especially the sandals (rather than another pair of slippers for once!) that I ended up wearing around town the whole weekend. The key they give you is super heavy but they let you keep it at the front desk while you're gone thank goodness...the key got stuck in our door one day which was pretty annoying to wait for help. The elevator is old fashioned as well, and if you don't close the door on your way out, it'll get stuck on that floor you got off of (this affected us one time so we had to walk the stairs). Our balcony view was too good to leave often or to even venture to the pool, but the pool view is still beautiful too! Poolside drinks were refreshing, I got a frozen pina colada (just to mix it up from all the wine I had all trip!) and the pool server was very sweet and accommodating. We ate at the hotel's restaurant each morning for breakfast (I loved their unique apple juice and their daily spread) and for dinner one night (the wood oven fire pizzas were yummy and watching them being made was cool too!). Definitely stay here for one of the best views of Positano- and if you don't at least come for dinner to check it out! read more

Incredible! My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon in mid-May. The only thing better than the views, hotel, food, pool, location, and rooms was the service! Outstanding communication in the weeks leading up to our visit and throughout our stay. Hotel arranged transportation to and from Napoli Centrale and made reservations for us in town during our trip. Enjoyed their aperitivo offerings every night and the restaurant was one of the best in town. Can't wait to come back! read more

Words can't properly explain how grateful we are to have chosen Il Tridente restaurant and the Hotel Poseidon for our wedding lunch. This place is not only about thoughtful design, breathtaking views and highly rated Mediterranean food (which was basically our reason to chose it in the first place!), but mainly about PEOPLE. Our initial correspondence was very smooth and friendly with a very prompt response. We were presented a variable options to choose from in regards to the table settings and food. We had asked whether it would be possible to apply some of our regional traditions to the day, what was responded to with the biggest enthusiasm and genuine curiosity. We had quite a few requests that were outside of the offering and every single one of them got handled with the kindest manner. When it came to the day itself, it absolutely went beyond our biggest expectations. From the moment you walk in, to the very last second of your stay, you're surrounded by the most genuine and loveliest human beings. The team that had looked after us and our family and friends, made us feel the most special. Food and drink is absolutely divine, and the views are one of most spectacular on the coast. Place has got a beautiful combination of what you look for in Italian hospitality as well as a romantic and very cheerful ambience. I also would like to underline that everything was handled with the respect for the Covid safety guidelines, but simultaneously didn't feel inconvenient in any sense. I will recommend this place to anyone with any hospitality need, and I am certain that you will be treated in an equally same way, no matter what's the purpose of your visit. We had a most spectacular time staying here for 3 nights in Positano. The staff were wonderful to communicate even prior to us arriving, accommodating to our need for early arrival and helping us set up a good car service for airport pick up. They were so helpful in scheduling our boat tickets and recommending where to hike, just a very customer centric philosophy all round. We had a lovely room with great views. The room was older but was comfortable, clean and a massive bathroom. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant and had a pleasant experience. There is live music and It has a brilliant vibe around the pool. Hotel Poseidon made our stay in Positano many times better than what we had imagined. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a great and well kept property and good service. read more

The hotel Poseidon is amazing - just high enough in the city to see an amazing view, yet a reasonable walk down the hill to the beach. The staff here is incredible -- from the front desk to housekeeping, to the restaurant staff. We enjoyed a fabulous view from the balcony of our spacious and spotless room. Breakfast was wonderful and the omelets just perfect, along with many other selections. Dinner was also excellent while enjoying such a lovely view of Positano to accompany the excellent food and service. The common areas of the hotel are inviting and spacious and the pool area is wonderful with a bar and bar menu perfect for lunch while taking in the view. There are several other inviting restaurants and shops close by as well that we enjoyed during our week long stay. The hotel staff was very helpful and informed when we contacted them prior to coming with our COVID concerns. We were somewhat reluctant to resume travel during this time - but the staff made us feel very comfortable with reasonable precautions. We are so glad we decided to travel to the Poseidon! read more

My husband and I went to Positano for our wedding and honeymoon. This was our first time in Positano and staying at the Hotel Poseidon. It exceeded our expectations in every way! The hotel is beyond beautiful and leaves you feeling like you are right at home. The views are spectacular, the service and staff are amazing, the outdoor pool area is gorgeous, and the restaurant (Il Tridente) is delicious! You also cannot beat the centralized location of where the hotel is situated. Liliana and the rest of the staff at the hotel went above and beyond to make us feel special & taken care of during our wedding & honeymoon there. Their kindness, attention to detail, and hospitality is unparalleled. We would highly recommend staying here and cannot wait to go back when we visit Positano again!!!!! read more

Magical stay at Hotel Poseidon for my Girlfriend and I! We drove into Positano from Tuscany, so we had been traveling for 6 hours by car and were certainly ready to get out and stretch our legs. The convenience of the Poseidon garage is not to be taken for granted... Our check in process couldn't have been better. We handed off our keys to the front desk, and as we started off on our tour of the hotel we were told that our car would be parked, and bags delivered to our room by the strongest young man in all of Positano... The hotel is beautiful from top to bottom, restaurant is fantastic and good luck finding a better staff... These guys are great. We stayed in room 10 on the second floor with a view of the pool, ocean and all of Positano. Make sure you arrange your schedule to be outside around sunset as nothing compares to the sun going down as the lights come on. First class all the way! Thanks for everything... This hotel is a total gem. A few things make it so: 1) Staff - they are incredible. Possibly the best hospitality experience we've ever had. They go out of their way to be helpful and friendly. I was sitting outside one cool night, and they actually brought me a blanket. WHAT. 2) The views and location - really incredible views. We weren't near the loud clubs and touristy restaurants, but closer to what we thought were the better places to go to. 3) The restaurant in the hotel - I mean. Come on. This restaurant is so damn good. Just hang out there - go have a cup of tea outside. Or have a lovely breakfast. On Fridays (I think), it's pizza night and it will not disappoint. Oh man, it's so good and relaxing. The rooms are great, decorated authentically. Price-wise, yes, all the hotels in Positano are expensive, but this one really felt worth it and not CRAZY OBSCENE in terms of price. Loved it, couldn't fault the place. read more

My husband and I stayed in Poseidon Hotel at the beginning of June for a two night stay (we should have stayed longer!). We were greeted by the beautiful and sparkling Margherita who from our arrival made us feel more than good! She gave us a tour of the hotel, telling us about the family story and introduced us to the hotel staff. Being more than happy to have chosen the Poseidon Hotel, Margherita announces that she has upgraded us to the most beautiful suite of the hotel! She's a love and we can't thank her enough! The suite has a large terrace with a breathtaking view of the village, the outdoor terrace and the swimming pool. It is literally the most beautiful view that Positano can offer! The rooms are as big as each other, you don't know where to look and which room you will prefer! This hotel has an incredible charm that you will only feel when you go there! Unfortunately, we didn't have time to use the pool, but we will do it next time! We did however enjoy of the hotel barby night which once again offers a breathtaking view. Luca (waiter - working at the hotel for many years) was so lovely, we thank him so much! This family-run hotel is in a great location as it is located just 5 minutes walk from the beach and the center. This hotel is simply my favorite in Positano and we hope to visit it very soon again! This is the best affordable hotel in Positano. Period. I did my research, every direction. Even considered spending a stupid amount of money to be an A type of hotel. If you can be ok with a 4 star hotel with one of the best views in the world this is for you. Let me say that the room we booked was the funny suite. Our balcony was at the top of the hotel, and was giant. I would be disappointed if our room was on any other floor, as our balcony looks over the other balconies and thus lacks privacy from above if you're not on the top floor. Our balcony lacked privacy from the neighboring rooms which all seemed to not be booked as we didn't see a sole. The food at the hotel was very good, the service at the hotel was very good. Its a lot of money for a room anywhere in Positano so it was important to get this decision correct. This hotel was great. Prepare yourself for a long walk up from the beach but you only do it once a day at most. The pool is smaller than advertised but still a nice size and deep enough at the deep end to jump in. read more

If you have ever asked why my review scale is so tilted (lots of 2's, not so much on the 5's), it's because I've been to places like the Poseidon. Take a moment. If you're browsing my profile, come in to this place's home page and LOOK at the pictures. They only *begin* to open the door to the glorious splendour and relaxing, romantic heaven that is Positano, one of the most beautiful places on Earth. --top 5 list of honeymoon candidates. have you seen *Enchanted April*? Do you remember the feeling of bliss which overcomes the characters? In a place such as Positano, even the most hardened, busy, workaholic will be transformed by the view, the quiet, the decor, the food, the service and town. Sure, it's not the private italian villa you have to your own... and no, i won't be sharing those locations with you! I've seen what these reviews do to a place once exposed... you just can't get in! :) But Poseidon is sheer heaven, and presuming you're not going when I'm planning to go, there should be room for us all! THE DRIVE FROM NAPLES If you haven't hired your limousine (yes, in Italy that means an extended-axle mercedes with a bit more legroom in the back seat) to drive you down from Naples, you'll have to get a taxi. Be sure you do it from a taxi stand where there are lots of drivers to fight over you and negotiate a price. OK, if you're not up to it, it'll cost more, but it's fun to get all these drivers screaming at each other, arms waving. But, as in other countries, be sure you choose an *official* taxi. Learn the logo before you go. If you can find a taxi that is small enough, you'll be treated to the roller-coaster ride of your life. Hang on tight. Italian taxi drivers will get you there, and fast! Over the mountain and along the coast, winding down, down, down, you'll arrive Positano. There's a pic of the entryway to the hotel. [closing eyes] oh, what memories it conjures. THE TILE Take note of the beautiful Italian tile throughout the hotel. It's from a town up the Amalfi coast called Vietri. If you hire a car, it's a great day trip. If you know a guy, you can get a tour of one of the factories where they make the tile, and the ceramic bowls and plates which are so characteristic of this region. You will also learn to appreciate the details of the standard to recognize the cheap chinese knockoffs. THE LOUNGE/BAR Check out the pic. See the piano? ZOMG. It was but the first afternoon after my arrival and I realized I would need some piano scores to set this place alive with Chopin, Debussy and Brahms. Not having scores with me, I called back home and had them FAX me some of my library. The glow, the people, the view. I had to play. THE BREAKFAST You can always tell the new arrivals from America. On their first day, they gorge themselves on the breakfast and the staff comply with their every desire. On their 2nd or 3rd day they have let go of their insatiable lust for food and are transfigured by Positano. It's good too because... THE FOOD The water of Italy elevates her vegetables and produce to heights of flavor and purity you can't find anywhere else in the world. A single tomato (tiny by american waxy, grown-for-yield, Monsanto-modified standard shit) BURSTS with flavor in your mouth. All I could think of when I took my first one was a Bubblelicious commercial. Southern Italian is about the purity, clarity and simplicity of the ingredients. Be sure to take at least one of your dinners on the veranda on the top level. It might have been one of the most romantic spots in the world. If you're lucky sound from the violin played in the lounge below will be on the gently blowing breeze. THE BELL As is the case in most of these spots, the roman catholic church still asserts herself prominently. Even if all of Positano doesn't make its way every Sunday, the church's bell rings to remind you that time does indeed pass in this glorious place. THE PIZZA You may have had the pizza of chris bianco. *This* part of Italy is where you'll find the style is from. THE BEACH (THE SEAFOOD) There is something quite satisfying about lunching steps from the beach, watching a fisherman pull up in his boat, carry a huge fish toward you, be greeted by the owner, and then pause while the owner comes over to you and your party to offer it to you. A little less than an hour later, you're enjoying some of the freshest seafood of your life. THE WINE No sulfites. That means you can keep drinking wine ALL DAY and just enjoy yourself. I think 12 bottles in one day was my personal best. read more

First the staff is so nice, friendly and accommodating. Couldn't ask for anything better on that front! Hotel is located in a good location- not too far of a walk to the beach and the main strip area. Food is great compared to other places around Positano (overpriced mediocre at best touristy food). Only giving 3 stars because the walls are PAPER THIN so you can hear everything from your neighboring guests in the hallways to the hustling cars on the street right outside (and they aren't timid about laying on their horns in Italy). The rooms themselves are ok, probably not worth the price you have to pay to stay here but I think that just comes with the area of Positano in general unless your willing to spend $2k a night. We would come back to our room at the end of the day with long black hairs on our pillows, sheets and all over our bathroom floor. I think maybe the maids hair just shed easy but still kinda gross to find. If you plan to try and sleep in until 9 am (again paper thin walls don't allow it too often), make sure to put your do not disturb sign on the door. The maids start their rounds pretty early and will walk right in on you. read more

From the moment we walked in we knew we had found the perfect hotel to stay in Positano. Margarita and Anna welcomed us with such warmth and enthusiasm it set the tone for the entire stay. The rooms are lovely and the staff is more than accommodating. Josie and Pasquale at the restaurant will make sure you have a wonderful dining experience in their beautiful restaurant over looking the city and ocean. First let me say that Positano is now my favorite city after going there for 5 days on our honeymoon. Hotel Poseidon only enhanced our Positano experience. A note for those who haven't been to Positano yet. There are a TON of steps/hills! If arriving by ferry, definitely pay a porter to take your luggage up to Poseidon. WORTH the 10 euro. After a large climb to the hotel (not realizing there is an easier road to take), we were looking forward to seeing our accommodations. The staff at the hotel was really helpful and kind. We met the owner during our stay, and you can tell that he has a lot of pride in his hotel. We were taken up to our room in a fantastic old elevator (the "first elevator" built in Positano). We stayed in a "funny room." They call it the funny room because the terrace is probably bigger than the actual room itself! The room was very typical of a European hotel room, and we found it to be perfect for our stay, but the TERRACE. Oh. My. God. It was magical, overlooking all of Positano. I could cry thinking about how beautiful it was. We would have drinks on the terrace every night before leaving for dinner. It was the best part of staying at Poseidon. The Poseidon also had a great breakfast spread, beautiful deck area by the pool, and their restaurant, the Trident, was delicious! Do not hesitate to book this hotel. You won't regret it!! read more

Spacious, Awesome Decor, Great Food! The hotel looks good both outside and inside and as soon as I stepped out of the taxi, it was obvious that I was in for a great treat. The view from the ground level is stunning. You will be spoilt with different options of lounging or you can go for the regular chairs. The rooms decor was amazing, although the beds weren't so cozy, the suite was spacious and quite accessible. Drinks are refreshing and always chilled at the poolside to give you that rejuvenating feeling. My choice was Pina colada which was served with polite and welcoming servers who were very active and always smiling. What I found awesome was the way they made your pizza as you watch. Food is also great and you will always get delicious meals that satisfy your taste buds. Throughout my travel history, I have met awesome people that are friendly but none could beat the rapport we had with the entire staff of this great hotel. read more

My husband and I did not stay at the Hotel Poseidon, but got massages at the hotel's spa, L'Onda Beauty Centre. They were fairly flexible with scheduling, and we were able to book the massages on short notice. I was pregnant at the time, and the masseuse was very accommodating. My husband also really enjoyed his massage. The staff at both the hotel and the spa was extremely friendly. We certainly recommend the spa services, and had a pleasant experience with the hotel's staff. read more

Hotel Poseidon is a must do! Truly wonderful and charming hotel that is surpassed only by its spectacular staff. When we first arrived we learned they had given us a free upgrade to a room with a spectacular view of the Positano hillside and beach. Not only was our room well appointed, it was also spectacularly clean and charming!      While we were on vacation, my fiance got very sick with strep throat. Not only did they connect us with a local doctor and arrange for us to meet with him at the hotel, they also negotiated for us a great low price for the consultation & meds. They also arranged for us a boat tour, taxi, and vespa for us from their front desk. They were extremely helpful with directions and recommendations throughout our stay, and their thoughtful staff really made an impression--truly went above and beyond!      The owners are also incredibly welcoming and accessible with a long family history in Positano. Location is excellent and in walking distance to the beach, the town center, and tons of great shops/restaurants. I have traveled to 20+ countries and stayed in hundreds of hotels, but Hotel Poseidon will always be special and stand out in my mind! We cannot wait to come back! read more
