The Albany House in Dublin is amazing, I have made it a point to stay here at least a few days, on every trip I have taken to Ireland.
This hotel, is a historic Georgian building with beautiful original 1714 to 1830 Georgian style architecture. The furnishings and decor in the Albany House takes you back in time to the elegance of old Ireland, the paintings and art on the walls is beautiful.
Albany house is located in Dublin just down the street from St. Stephens Greens, and Grafton Street. It is within walking distance of many of Dublin's prime historical and tourist destinations. I was able to walk to most of the historical destinations within Dublin from the Albany House, there is also many horse drawn carriages, and hop on / hop off buses that can take you further if needed.
The staff at Albany House is nice, extremely helpful, and the total feel of this place is as if you have gone back in time. It is very cozy, and the breakfast service is amazing. The staff during breakfast reminds me of my Grandmothers house as a child, they treat you so well it is as if you are family. The people in general that I encountered at Albany House (staff and other travelers), were so kind, it makes me miss it writing about it.
I would wake up in the morning to journey through Dublin, and the women in the kitchen would always have a beautiful breakfast and hot tea waiting in the morning. At breakfast, you can sit in the dining hall near the windows and watch the rain fall onto Harcourt Street and watch the people move along with their day.
On my last trip with family to Ireland, my Nephew (4 years old) was the star of the show with the ladies in the Albany dining hall. They would have bread crumbs prepared for him in the morning so he could feed the ducks at St. Stephens Greens. The treatment was again amazing.
The rooms are very comfortable, clean, and very nice. As the building is originally from the 18th century, there is no elevator, so if you have trouble with stairs (especially European steep stairs), you may want to ask for assistance.
I truly loved having hot tea in the Albany House, on cold and rainy mornings, sitting by the window, waiting for the rain to fade, to begin the day of exploring Dublin and its ancient history.
I really miss the Albany House, and the hospitality/feel, and I will definitely be going back when I can.
I sincerely recommend this Hotel, and the experience of it, to everyone! read more
