    Unmasked employee approaching patients
    Erin M.

Unsafe. Employees do not comply with masking and safety guidelines. While I was there, an employee sat in the office area without masking (other employees were masked). When she needed to ask me a question, she actually just put a hand in front of her mouth! I asked her to put on a mask, she did but didn't actually put it over her mouth and nose. Never came back, canceled the rest of my family's appointments, reported them to County Health, with pictures.

my old frame w/new RX by Maui Jim, holder was a new style which i consider good, glasses easier go in and out.

My 3 year old was seen by Dr Angela and she was so nice that my daugther was willing to cooperate fully for a full hour of visit.

These optometrists really know their stuff, and the staff is very helpful. My wife and I strongly recommend them.

Do not waste your time or money here. They are over priced and offer a very limited selection.

If you try to make an appointment online by clicking their emails that remind you to, they say they'll call you and they never do. The only way to do it is to call them. It's weird that they give you the option to get a call back but never do. The front desk doesn't really make eye contact when you go, and are a bit cold. I guess that's fine, but it is a stark contrast to the friendliness of the doctors and such. Overall, I would recommend.

I found Solano EyeCare through my VSP coverage and made an appointment here for my annual checkup…read more Although everyone was very friendly, I found the optometrist unusually pushy on products and upgrades. Such as highly recommending additional tests just to be safe. And pushing for separate computer glasses without really providing an understanding of why they could be optional. Additionally, I suffer from the occasional red eye due to dry tear ducts and long hours in front of a computer due to work. To remedy this, I use a lubricating eye drop which the optometrist claimed I shouldn't use as it supposedly had preservatives. Instead, she tried to push a costly eyedrop brand they carried in-house. This claim however that my over-the-counter eyedrops contained preservatives was definitely false. As the bottles clearly state that they are preservative free. And was recommended to me by an ophthalmologist I had just seen last year. To add insult to injury, the salesperson who helped me to pick out new frames never disclosed to me additional discounts that VSP was offering for certain brands. I only wound up finding out about it after going home and seeing the various promotions through VSP's website for Solano EyeCare. When confronted about it when I went to pickup my new glasses, they stated that it was my responsibility to know what promotions my provider was offering. This is the only optometrist I've ever visited that wasn't aware of or otherwise disclosed additional discounts off specific brands at the time of sale. I understand the need to upsell. But everything about my experience at Solano EyeCare just felt dishonest and non-transparent.

So last weekend I came by to check out the possibilities of getting a new optometrist. So this review focuses on my appointment for today in which I met the wonderful and kind Dr. Jane Liao. I liked her very much. She's a Taiwanese lady that grew up in Brazil and somehow graduated from U.C. Berkeley's school of optometry. Dr. Jane strikes me as a very brilliant woman and also very cool. I needed to update my contact lenses and also update my optometrist since I now own a home in Albany next to the Pacific East Mall where Dr. Jane can be found at least once per week, generally on Saturdays. I have a follow up appointment for next Saturday. She gave me the latest technology in contacts, the Acuvue Oasis style. So my one paid appointment gets me a free set of contacts with a free follow up appointment next Saturday. I gave her $96 for the entire work up with two prescriptions: one for glasses and one for contacts. Upon careful examination, Dr. Jane determined that I have normal pressure in both eyes with some slight clouding of the left lens. Not too bad for a mid-60s client. My brother by this time had cataracts in both eyes. I apparently have worn sunglasses much more often and have a perfectly clear right lens, and a left lens that can still be resolved to 20/30. My brother was so happy with his cataract surgery, but I'll not be following that pathway for a little while yet. Dr. Jane is the mom of two small children and lives near San Jose. Once they are both in school, I'll likely have more appointment options as she'll visit this office more than once per week. For the time being, I'm very happy to have her within walking distance of my Albany Hill home on Saturdays. Thank goodness she's practicing so very close to me. For people who want to do things in Pacific East Mall on a Saturday afternoon, you must have patience in order to park in the lot. I recommend parking on the street just south of the Mall. Also don't go to Central Avenue to get back on the route 80/580 freeway, or you will be in a line of 30 or 40 cars having to wait through many green light cycles. Instead drive south on Pierce Street to Buchanan. Take a right at the light and enter the route 80/580 freeway with no hassles. As a resident of this street right next to the Mall, I always come home by exiting on Central Avenue and turning right on Central, then right again on Pierce Street. I leave home to get on the freeway by going down Pierce to Buchanan and then right to the freeway entrance. Very smooth if you go in this clockwise manner. The counterclockwise pattern causes slow frustration. Word to the wise.
