Got 1 fish and 1 jumbo shrimp. Both were tasty. The batter was light, crispy and not greasy. The fish was moist. Good creamy tartar sauce. Service was very friendly. There were several tables inside for dining. No issues with parking since AF&C is located in a large retail center.

Came back and tried the Combo C. Definitely enough food to pack half to go. Food comes out hot and fresh for sure! Zucchini retained its heat for quite sometime. Staff are very friendly. Will have to try their "today's special" next ins around.

I've been coming here since I was a kid, back when it was H. Salt Fish & Chips, and even after they switched the name to Alaskan Fish & Chips, the heart of the place has stayed the same. It's definitely old-school, but always clean and well kept. The cook is always nice & greets you along with the owner. The owner is incredibly friendly he takes your order, packages it himself, and is always so kind to my family and I every time we come in. The food is made quickly but comes out super hot and fresh every single time. Prices are very reasonable, and we love how close it is now that we've moved into the area. The Fish is always a hit!! But we also love the JUMBO shrimp & their fried mushrooms!!! Be sure to get tartar sauce & vinegar to go. A true neighborhood gem we've been enjoying for years.

I found this place through Yelp, so I feel obligated to comment after we were there a couple days ago. We ordered the 3-piece fish meals combo with fries, zucchini, coleslaw and zucchini. The food was cooked to order, and all came out fresh and delicious. Purportedly the fish came directly from Alaska. We love the onion rings. Price is reasonable. There are not many mom-and-pop fish and chips like this around anymore. Check them out. You won't regret it!

Amazing mom and shop in OC! Was craving fish and chips and found this spot on yelp. Very good prices and small restaurant but had plenty of seating and was not crowded at all during a Saturday afternoon. Sauce was complimentary I believe and not an extra charge. Fish tasted super fresh and could tell it was just recently taken out of the fryer and not just sitting there. Would love to come back and support this small business. Cashier was friendly and welcoming!!

Truly a hidden gem in the area with freshly fried fish and chips. Plenty of the parking in the plaza. The menu is pretty large and there are so many different combinations so you're guaranteed to find something that works for you. Between 2 people, we got the combo 1 with an additional piece of fish on the side so we could sample the fish, chips, onion rings and shrimp. It was just the right amount given we weren't super hungry and everything being fried can start feeling a bit heavy. Quite a few small tables inside if you want to dine in and enjoy your food fresh out the fryer. I'll definitely be coming back the next time I'm craving fish & chips!

Been coming here since high school days and the fact that they're still alive and open means something. The fish is crispy and the meat is flaky. It comes with lots of fries. It's a very oily yet delicious meal lol. I made sure to run the next day too, for real. The sauce is a 3/5. It's good, but not unbelievable good. I prefer the mayo sauce to be more tangy in my own opinion. Took my gf here recently and she enjoyed it too. It was a little busy too that day. There's not that much good spots that specialized in fish and chips. I had Gordon Ramsay's in Vegas, but that's a different story. Overall, I always come back here whenever I'm craving fish and chips. People come through and support the locals.

Fried to perfection with reasonable servings, I'd say Alaskan fish and chips is doing its thing. Not too greasy and an incredible flavor. My order was on time for pick up. The ambiance of this place has a authentic look and feel to it.

Fresh & crispy !

Fresh & crispy ! I go to the fish & chips on willow regularly , this is much similar to their kind of fish but with thicker fries. loved their fish & shrimp. Everything came out fresh. Service was great

I was craving something new tonight and came across this spot. I love me some fried food so this place caught my eye. I was so hungry and haven't had something like this in a long time I ordered everything I thought sounded good. I ended up with a special D, seafood combo, calamari rings, large ranch, and extra piece of fish. I called to order and he said it would be ready in 10 minutes. I arrived about 10 minutes and it was all ready sitting in the window where all the cook food sits so the excess oil can drip off. Made it home and it was still hot and the batter is so light and crispy. Everything was delicious. Large pieces and didn't taste overly greasy. My favorite was the scallops and the zucchini. The fish was outstanding too.

We ordered over the phone for pick up! I got the lunch special "D" onion rings, zucchini and fish . It's okay not what i expected.. i rate this as a 3 stars i will let you know why I chose 3 stars, the tartar sauce is so bland, no taste, fish seems and looks like from frozen box, hoping its not-unlike the one i bought from England Fish and chips in long Beach, i will post it later and my palate can tell the huge difference.

This fish and chips spot has been around for over 20 years. It used to be part of the H Salt Fish & Chips chain, but later rebranded as Alaskan Fish & Chips, same great taste, just a new name. I stumbled upon this place while pulling off the 405 for gas. Saw it tucked behind the gas station, checked the reviews, and decided to give it a try. The restaurant itself is pretty simple but came dinnertime, there was a steady stream of people picking up takeout and delivery orders. We decided to dine in and noticed that the whole place was run by just two guys (probably the owners), one handling orders and the other in the kitchen. Both were super friendly! The menu is all about fried food, freshly made to order, so expect a bit of a wait if it's busy. The batter is light and super crispy (not the thick, doughy kind), and it pairs perfectly with their tartar sauce. They also have a handwritten "Today's Special" board with great deals. Prices are very reasonable. If you love fried food and find yourself in Westminster area, this spot is worth checking out. Alaskan Fish & Chips 5956 Westminster Blvd., Westminster, CA 92683

Ask the Community - Alaskan Fish & Chips

Does anyone know the history of this place? How long have they been around? Curious minds want to know. :D

I lived across the street from them in the 60s. They were known by the name H. Salt Fish and Chips then. I moved years after and I'm not sure when they changed their name but it's the same as it was with a new name. I like it.

The inside looks like it is was an H Salt's, which is what i was looking for. On the other hand, it looks like it hadn't been updated since the 70s, except for a few fishing signs and plants. The menu looks like the original one. It's that old school fried food thing, The woman who takes your order fries the food. I got mine to eat here. She brought the food to my table. It's frozen fish in that famous triangular fish piece that no fish looks like. The fish has good crunch but little actual taste. The tartar sauce does not taste like it was freshly made and it's a little overly sweet. But the friend fish with the vinegar and tartar sauce was what i was looking for. This is the kind of place that is reminiscent of what H Salt was. Maybe my memory of what this tasted like is inaccurate. But it just doesn't taste as good as I remember. But that could be me or the place, or both. If you want this kind of place, it'll work. Just don't expect much.

I'm really impressed with the overall quality of the seafood and I always ALWAYS enjoy watching a chef butcher entire slabs of fish. We wanted to order one of everything but we settled for the chefs crudo, the ahi tostada and some fish tacos. Let's dive in. Wink wink. The chefs crudo was the most delicious yellowtail I've ever had. Very lightly seasoned with pomegranate seeds and a sweet sauce with raw Fresno chilis and it was bangin!!!!!! The fish literally melted in my mouth and it was the cleanest freshest fish goodness I've had in a minute. Spot on, could eat four of these. Fish tacos were freshly grilled mahi mahi and it was massive flakey chunks of delicious and succulent fish. The tortilla was freshly grilled mahi and nice. The garnish of cabbage and pico hit nice. Tomatillo sauce was delish as well and added that nice acidic pop. Well done. The tostada of ahi was just stupid good. Super fresh chunks of ahi with just the right amount of sauce. Loved it and I could eat four of these too! We actually came for the collars but missed out this time. If you're feeling adventurous and getting a lil funky with your palate. Try fish collars at a fresh seafood restaurant like this. It's such an incredible experience and will change your view of fish parts for life. Service was exceptional. Our waitress was kind and helpful, we asked some questions and she went right to the kitchen to double check. Love that. This was such a tremendous dining experience and the vibes are so dope and chill. I love this place and if we move here it will be our regular shop for all things seafood. Annnnddddd they have a burger on the menu that sounds divine. Someday. Thank you for such a wonderful dinner

It's a casual, family-friendly spot with a fun seafood-themed atmosphere, and the service was friendly and welcoming. We tried the Cali Truffle Roll, Lobster Grilled Cheese, Lobster Bisque, Clam Chowder, fries, tots, mac and cheese, and the strawberry lemonade. The amount of lobster in everything really impressed us. They definitely don't skimp, and every lobster dish felt generous and satisfying. The Cali Truffle Roll was probably the freshest bite of the meal. I loved that the lobster was served chilled with avocado, cucumber, carrots, red onion, celery and greens. It was cold, crisp and refreshing while still feeling indulgent from the truffle oil and herb mayo. The Lobster Grilled Cheese was another favorite, especially dipped into the soups. We ended up dipping absolutely everything into both the lobster bisque and clam chowder, including the fries and tots. Everything paired so well together that it became part of the experience. There's a good variety on the menu for the whole family, along with deals and specials that make it an easy casual lunch or dinner option.
