I recently took Alaska Airlines from Minneapolis Minnesota to Medford Oregon. When I booked, it looked like I had a 6 hour layover in Seattle. I was flying out to pick up a new puppy and wasn't sure how to go about all this. I called ahead of time to ask. I was pleasantly surprised to so quickly get in touch with such a pleasant customer service agent! She completely, cheerfully, and carefully explained how long it takes to get from the arrival terminal to the departure terminal. Also, how to take care of the puppy along the way. THE FLIGHT - more importantly, I felt safe at all times! The attendants helped me by giving me the extra time to get settled that I needed. Seats were big enough that I did NOT feel like the cream in an Oreo! One leg of my journey was a commuter plane so a roller bag carry on was a bit big. But everyone expected it. The attendants knew how to help me sort out a couple items so we got it to work quickly and easily. My go to airline if they go to where I need. read more

The Customer service at the counter was the worst that I have ever experienced!!!! I came to the counter almost 2 hours early on Monday morning with my small dog. They said my carrier was 1" too big!!!! This is a bag I have flown with for a long time and it never got rejected. I still had Delta Airline tags on it. So I asked if they could rebook my flight and they said to call a number! Why they couldn't do it there is a mystery to me. When I called the number it gave me an hour and 7 minutes wait time. When they finally called back they offered me a flight that was leaving in 1 hour. It didn't give me time to find another dog bag so I went back home VERY FRUSTRATED. I could not get my money back since it was a saver ticket but they gave me a 50% off my next flight which I couldn't get for another week or so. They said that was the best they could do. So I ended up. Using another flight for the next day, Tuesday. Tuesday morning came and I was 90 minutes early. This time the line was long and not moving!!! Everyone's flight to Hawaii has been cancelled! I was in line for almost an hour and when I got to the counter, I didn't have enough time to make my flight! The lady at the counter said, "Next time, come at least 90 minutes early." And now all of a sudden they could put me on another flight! And then she said to call the "number" to put my dog on the reservation. So I got out of line to call the number and waited for 40 minutes on the phone. I finally got my dog on the reservation, went to the counter and got my boarding pass. I barely made it to the flight I again got rescheduled on. Needless to say, I have never been treated so badly at any airline!!!! The people at the counter treated us like cattle! I will get the name of one particular lady there who looks like she is from the islands! She had no care in the world when she told me "You need to get to the other line." As she pointed with her thumb with no expression on her face! She was the same person who said, "Your dog can't get on the plane! So get another bag." I have kept my composure and was very nice to all of them during this 2 day ordeal, Never once complaining. I certainly did not deserve to be treated the way they treated me. I have never been treated so rudely by any other airline in my entire life! I will never fly Alaska again! There should be a zero rating! read more

I have been a loyal Alaska Airlines customer for years and even have their credit card. Part of the benefits of having the credit card is a yearly companion fair for 100.00. I recently broke my neck and had to cancel and upcoming trip to Hawaii. I had used the companion fair for my husband's ticket. Since I am in a neck brace, I had to cancel the trip, but I want to go in a few months once I am healed. To my surprise when I cancelled my ticket, I do not get the companion ticket back! I spoke to 2 people on the phone that kept saying I had used it already! But I didn't use it I cancelled the trip! I will use any miles I have with them and cancel my card and never fly them again. I have been very loyal even when a plane door popped off planes in my hometown. This is a poor excuse for customer service and really kicking someone while they are down. read more

My husband and I visited Mn. On our way out our plane was delayed 3 plus hours. While we were waiting we had the opportunity to see an Alaska Airlines gate attendant, James at Gate E1. A US Navy member in His dress whites needed to board but he had forgotten his orders. They were being brought to the airport. James volunteered to run down and get them while the young man boarded. He could not report in Seattle without his orders. James RAN From the gate. The young sailor boarded. Brianna HELD the plane. James got back about 10 minutes later at FULL speed, Manila envelope in hand, ran straight to the plane and delivered the order packet to the young sailor. Wow. THATS SERVICE. Then they left for Seattle. We're still 3 hours late but they gave us dinner vouchers and James and Brianna have answered everyone's questions with a smile and with patience. We flew this for the first time to SFO over Christmas holidays. Price was a big factor since we wanted pre-selected seats. My wife usually needs to check in her luggage. The nice guy who checked in her luggage didn't charge her so I checked my luggage too. When we boarded the plane, we were on the runway for close to 30 minutes. With the delay, we arrived almost an hour later in SFO. Well, we tried the egg souffle on board which was actually pretty good. On the return flight, our plane was delayed by over an hour so got back after midnight. Again, we didn't get an explanation so were a little annoyed. However, we were able to check in luggage without additional fee. In the future, we probably will pick another airline since not too many flights from MSP to SFO. read more

Beware if you are a Alaska Airlines Boardroom (lounge) member and you try to get into an affiliate lounge. Alaska does not warn you that it requires an upgraded membership and you will be embarrassed by being denied entry. I have no idea why they do not spell this out to their members, but they don't. read more

great ontime service, entertainment and food. best of the domestic carriers by far. the new recaro seats in coach have great storage. food on the plane is better and cheaper than in most restaurants in the MSP airport. This is a tough one to write. I had the privilege of being removed from the plane 5 minutes before takeoff on my return flight to MSP. I was using a companion ticket that my wife bought. At the last minute she had to make other arrangements for business and I boarded without her. Big mistake. The flight was overbooked and by removing me, per policy, Alaska was able to board two others and dodge paying them for their trouble. I found a "cheap" flight home 9 hours later. Only $330. So why so generous with 3 stars? The MSP team found my bag which was NOT removed from the early flight and notified me. When I arrived at 11:00 PM, a young women came down to baggage claim and took my bag out of locked storage without me asking. So points off for a bad policy on companion tickets...we'll likely be shopping for a new credit card and airline. But kudos to the local team at MSP. read more

If you like having your flight delayed and having to cancel plans with family this is the perfect airline for you. No flights to Hawaii the next day and are all booked. Might have to stay in Seattle overnight but Russell Wilson would probably pass again on the one yard line. I'd rather hot air balloon to my next destination. I'm not q big poster but after a horrible trip with sunny country airline I thought it a must to tell everyone what a pleasure it is to fly with Alaska. The only reason I gave this one star was because a zero was not an option. This is regarding a saver fare ticket I purchased for my family and I to travel to Seattle March 28th-April 4th. Despite multiple attempts to get this ticket refunded--due to Covid19--the best that Alaska Airlines customer care was willing to do was issue me a credit certificate for future travel. Seattle was basically shut down due to Covid 19, and was considered an epicenter of the virus during our visit window. All of the customer care representatives were inflexible and unwilling to even consider a monetary refund. Even though the U.S. Department of Transportation stated that they must refund my tickets--Alaska Airlines told me that a credit certificate is a refund! I again requested a monetary refund--they stated that they would not do that! I would highly suggest that when flying--do not choose this airline even though flights may be lower. read more

After boarding my flight and taking my seat in the exit row, I put in my earbuds and zoned out. It wasn't long before the flight attendant was waving his arms to get my attention I took out my earbuds and he all but yelled at me to get out of my seat because I disregarded his safety instructions. I explained that I was unaware that he was giving safety instructions but he again told me to change seats with another passenger. I was completely confused by his irate orders for me to move so I was probably a little slow with getting my things together. But as I picked up my bag to change seats, he barked, "that's it, i'm getting the captain, you're off the flight.", and stormed up the aisle like a six-year-old on punishment. I asked the guy sitting next to me what was happening. He shrugged his shoulders in confusion and got up for me to get out. I was in the aisle, about to sit down in the seat he told me to sit in when he came back down the aisle and barked at me to get off the plane or he'd call the police. Completely confused about what was going on, I looked around at the people sitting near us, all looking at the flight attendant with the same look of confusion I had. Arrived early in Minneapolis from San Diego on flight 2732 and waited for 20-25 minutes for a gate to open. I stopped at the restroom after deplaning and then took an electric cart down to baggage claim. I have MS so the carts was used to keep me on schedule. The flight was posted in at 7:45. Arrived at bag claim at 8:05 to reclaim my bag from the carousel. It was nowhere to be found. Spotted it in Alaska's locked bag claim office, no personal available or in site to retrieve the bag. Called the 877 bag claim number several times, waited on hold for as long as 15 minutes but no human ever answered. Had Alaska paged at least 3 times to come to the bag claim office. Went to the ticket counter at least 3 times hoping to find someone. No luck! Frustrated we left the airport. Called Alaska customer service and discovered the bag claim office closes at 8 pm. I can imagine that the rep is/was under orders to leave at 8 despite the arrival time. Not a good experience. Customer service had no solutions and not certain when the bag would be delivered. On balance the flight attendant (Kim) on the Horizon/ Alaska flight was exceptionally helpful and aware of my potential needs in case of an emergency. Alaska I think you may have a systemic issue with proper coverage of bag claim issues conflicting with rules of operation. read more
