A long-time fan of Alaska Airlines, but super disappointed in a flight last week from FAI-ANC on a 737-800. I was in row 11, called "Preferred Seats Located in the Main Cabin, these seats offer extra legroom. Available for an additional fee during booking or check-in." I am 5'6" and average weight, but sitting upright my knees were just a couple of inches from the seat in front of me. Had the person in front reclined their seat my knees would have been crunched and their head would have been in my lap. The row behind me was just as cramped. This was not an Alaska Airlines standard in any row in the past. It seems like "Shrikflation" has come to Alaska Airlines. Earlier this year we had multiple problems with flights, but attributed it to growing pains. In all cases the crew on board were absolutely amazing. I'm just so disappointed I am in Alaska Airlines management right now.

Multiple canceled flights, delays that make you question your life choices, and those moments where you are staring at the departure board like it personally betrayed you. It has not always been pretty. But then again, I have also had flights that were smooth as glass. Easy boarding, friendly crew, no nonsense, just get in the air and get where you need to go. When they get it right, they really get it right. Now let us talk about the seating situation, because this one hits close to home. It does not happen every flight, but when it does, you feel it. You are already working with limited space, and next thing you know, you are leaning outward just to exist, shoulder to shoulder with a stranger like you both accidentally bought the same seat. At that point it starts to feel like we should be splitting the cost of the ticket, because I am definitely not getting full use of mine. And speaking of things that feel a little thin, the food situation needs help. You are charging real money for these flights, and we are living off pretzels, coffee, and water. Bring back something with substance. People will pay for a decent meal if it is actually worth it. At the end of the day, I am not writing them off. There is enough good here to keep coming back, but it is time to polish things up. Upgrade the planes, give people a little more breathing room, and bring the experience up a notch. I've flown 150,000 miles with Alaska and they've all been enjoyable, pleasant, relaxing, predictable, and well taken care of. I've flown Alaska to Seattle, PV, ABQ, Austin...you name it... and even been pleasantly surprised by the once-in-a-while free cocktail, early boarding, and flights being ahead of schedule. They run like a well oiled machine at PDX airport, which I super appreciate. When I was at SEATAC, my luggage did not arrive for 40 minutes, but a brief 2 minute chat with the luggage counter, earned me 2,500 Alaska points to make up for it. My only small gripe is I don't like the new "Atmos" name at all LOL. When in doubt, book Alaska. read more

A long-time fan of Alaska Airlines, but super disappointed in a flight last week from FAI-ANC on a 737-800. I was in row 11, called "Preferred Seats Located in the Main Cabin, these seats offer extra legroom. Available for an additional fee during booking or check-in." I am 5'6" and average weight, but sitting upright my knees were just a couple of inches from the seat in front of me. Had the person in front reclined their seat my knees would have been crunched and their head would have been in my lap. The row behind me was just as cramped. This was not an Alaska Airlines standard in any row in the past. It seems like "Shrikflation" has come to Alaska Airlines. Earlier this year we had multiple problems with flights, but attributed it to growing pains. In all cases the crew on board were absolutely amazing. I'm just so disappointed I am in Alaska Airlines management right now. read more

With a simple email out of the blue, Alaska Air cancelled an itinerary I booked months ago instructing me to call them for alternatives. I was prepared for the worst given that the wedding we are attending is not flexible nor is the hotel refundable. Honestly, they worked their little azzes off to find an alternative that worked. I have been an adoring fan of Alaska Airlines since 2002. No longer. Their mileage program used to be the gem of the airlines,but now it is clearly just polished gravel. They have made it more difficult to achieve status, can't get their IT together to save their lives, and though I have gold status this year, they have made exit rows $75 more. What good is status? Flew this airline from SPOKANE to BOS. Checked my bag at the airport asking the agent to wrap my soft sided bag and she refused. When the bag arrived part of it was missing as well as some of my personal belongings. After spending an hour in the middle of the night filing the complaint waiting for the agent to check the baggage area in the back I went home. Hey Folks, beware this Airline destroys your luggage and looses your personal belongings and then tells you tough luck. our policies blah blah blah. I can't login to my account without prodding to review this airline, which I've done six times now in six other states. Anchorage: never a problem. Folks are always superb. We usually take some oddball flight leaving at 1:00am or 5:00am (when people are just starting their shift). Even at that hour these good people have been exemplar at their job. Even the flight crew that I know out of the area are the greatest. The three that come to mind are Lisa, Jane and Samm. Especially, Samm. After our last flight we bumped into her on the way home at a Target. It's funny to see her expression when we tell her what happened behind her back. While she can't really chime in as to events on the flight, you can almost read her mind when it comes to recalling the occasional idiot that was across from us. AS 268 from ANC to SFO on 09AUG2023 Flying First Class Cabin. Boarding was smooth and quick. No really hiccups. Preflight process and procedure went well. Seat: 1D had a torn side pocket. The tray was a bit sticky, I always carry a wipe for this purpose. Cabin Crew: did not really try to be personable, unlike other AS flights that I took. Food selection: pre-ordered meal. I ordered the Cheeseburger. A really good large burger, very flavorful and moist. The burger was served hot. I would give this meal a 4 out 5. read more
This was my first time flying on Alaska Airlines. The flight attendants were friendly. You are able to pre-order your snacks prior to travel, which is good. The bad part is that there's nuts on these meals. If you have a nut allergy, this is bad as some people that have nut allergies aren't able to be around nuts. The seats are very tight for a short person, so I'm sure that a tall person would be miserable. I recommend you opt for a premium seat or first class. read more

Worst air line ever!! Paid for direct flight because I have a baby. They delayed our flight from Las Vegas to anchorage and we still had to stop in Seattle. Only gave us $50 credit each for me and my wife. To top it off on our way back even though we got there with enough time to board our flight, there was only one line to check in bags for all international flights which only left us 20 minutes left by the time we reached check in. We got turned away and had repurchase tickets again and wasn't even able to used the credit they gave me in the first place. Never flying Alaska air lines again. Alaska Airlines does NOT do customer service, at all. I have been on hold with them over 3 hours being bounced here and there. Nothing has been resolved because they think I'll give up and go away. This is a warning! Whatever you do, find another airline to fly. What happened for me to get to this? The airline extended the flight time and let us know at 10 am, flight supposed to be at 6:45 that evening. So, since my husband was flying with our kitty, he got there a little later. We chose Alaska for the nonstop to Portland option, so kitty didn't have to sit in cage more than necessary. I had to drive farther from the coast to get him. He got there an hour before the flight, but they used the ORIGINAL flight time to gauge the check in time, not the new advertised flight time. The person at the luggage desk had just sent off the luggage. And, she would not let my husband put his luggage on the plane as a carry on, even though it qualified size wise. Then, they wouldn't fly the luggage on another flight. Just... tough. My husband had to give his luggage to our son, who had taken him to the airport. He left the luggage in Albuquerque because Alaska Airlines would not help him in any form, despite being an hour in advance. So, since I was already in route to Portland and the kitten was already drugged, my husband had no other option than to board. He is here in Oregon for 3 weeks without his luggage! They don't care! And, they spent 3 hours of my time making sure I knew it! He will drive back. Alaska Airlines does not care. They put you on hold with didddledeee video game music and ignore you for hours at a time. Then they say, "oh well!" Don't fly Alaska. They don't care about your well-being or your luggage. If my husband had truly been late, we would have let this go. But, he was not late, and Alaska Airlines is not at all a fair-operating business. read more

Not only the make mistakes, they take no responsibility for their own admitted mistakes and even just blame their own people without trying to fix the problems they have created. I even talked to a "supervisor" by the name of April, who told me she was going to refer the case for review!!! as she agreed it was a mistake on their end, but that " anyway information is in our policies and emails that you could have reviewed" ! Unfortunately we were scheduled to fly out of Anchorage, Alaska to Fayetteville, Arkansas on July 21, 2025. On the evening of the 20th we received texts about an IT outage. The next morning, we went to the airport and were told things were corrected and our flight would be on time. We boarded in Anchorage and flew to Seattle. Without warning or explanation, the pilot aborted our landing. We had a 2-1/2 hour layover before DFW, so no problem. WRONG!!!! Turns out all flights were delayed, some were cancelled. We landed in DFW and missed our flight to Fayetteville, AR because of Alaska Airlines hardware issues. Customer Care was swamped. We didn't get vouchers and were stranded overnight. All the airline was willing to do is offer crummy $250 vouchers for a future flight and reimburse us for the hotel after we provide all receipts though their customer portal. Even after calling and explaining I would not use their future travel vouchers, they refused any refund. Fortunately I purchased flight insurance and got reimbursed through them for my hotel and meals. Alaska Airlines pretends to care about their customer. They don't . read more

Not sure why this bunch of amateurs get good reviews. I have been flying on them twice per week for the last four months and they are consistently bad. Bedraggled looking crews, consistent delays, food served while wearing purple nitrile gloves, poor air flow in the AC, smelly aircraft. Pretty disgusting. Why am I using them? So there is a lot of things that make them get one star for one they don't let you check bags 40 minutes before flight also they pull you out of line to make you go use a kiosk to tag your bags even after you wait 2 hr in a line then stick you back at the back of the line they bow to woke agendas. It's just there overall attitude towards customers. Dear Alaska, I am beyond pissed at you. I missed a flight yesterday from Cordova, AK to Anchorage, AK and you cancelled my entire trip. I had to rebook via my company's travel agent. If I missed a segment that is on me and it's up to me to either rebook or find another way to get to Anchorage. For you to cancel the rest of my entire trip is unacceptable. Then when I rebooked you gave me the shitty middle seat. To top it off you left my luggage in Seattle on Inbound flight even though I had over an hour to get to my connecting flight to Anchorage. I didn't get my luggage and toolbox until the next day. Then today your asshole male gate agent at C3 from Anchorage to Seattle told me it was on me because I missed my flight yesterday. I told him no Fuck it it's on you and your airline because you canceled all my flights. I don't need a shitty attitude from your gate agent when I asked politely if there was an aisle seat. What really pisses me off is this is the second time in less than 6 months you have not had my luggage at my destination. I really wanted to give your airline a try. However, after the shit you have put me through with delayed luggage and your employee's surly attitude I am going back to United and canceling my Alaska Credit Card this bullshit is unacceptable. I needed to fly Alaska Airlines on American Airlines to Chicago ORD then to Anchorage. Delta didn't have the best itineraries for my schedule. They changed departure gates but didn't update the app timely. I needed to go to G2, a Jet Blue gate with Newark still on the screen. We were delayed leaving ORD by an hour. Excuses. Then another 30 minutes waiting to take off. I really don't understand a separate cart for Biscoff cookies and pretzels and beverages. Seemed dumb and it could have been combined on beverage cart. The smoked salmon bagel was alright. No beverage, so I waited to eat it. A lot of turbulence over Canada. Return flight delayed leaving Seattle waiting for Alaskan Air flight from Chicago. See a coincidence here? The Bahn Mi salad was really good. They are smart to give out 8 Oz cans to avoid dumping out extra pop. Please bring direct flight options to Anchorage from Minneapolis! read more

Usually pretty good, however don't fall for the bonus miles if your bags are not at baggage claim within 20 minutes. We landed and waited 20 minutes on the plane before we could start unloading then had to wait an additional 40 minutes until we got our bags even though others got their baggage after about 20 minutes. Went to the counter for miles and they said it's due to weather and they had to de-ice which made no sense since the other baggage already came. read more
