Four stars for Alaska Airlines, and yeah, I am giving them another shot. I have had my fair share of frustration with these folks. Multiple canceled flights, delays that make you question your life choices, and those moments where you are staring at the departure board like it personally betrayed you. It has not always been pretty. But then again, I have also had flights that were smooth as glass. Easy boarding, friendly crew, no nonsense, just get in the air and get where you need to go. When they get it right, they really get it right. Now let us talk about the seating situation, because this one hits close to home. It does not happen every flight, but when it does, you feel it. You are already working with limited space, and next thing you know, you are leaning outward just to exist, shoulder to shoulder with a stranger like you both accidentally bought the same seat. At that point it starts to feel like we should be splitting the cost of the ticket, because I am definitely not getting full use of mine. And speaking of things that feel a little thin, the food situation needs help. You are charging real money for these flights, and we are living off pretzels, coffee, and water. Bring back something with substance. People will pay for a decent meal if it is actually worth it. At the end of the day, I am not writing them off. There is enough good here to keep coming back, but it is time to polish things up. Upgrade the planes, give people a little more breathing room, and bring the experience up a notch. Four stars for now, with the hope that next time it earns that fifth.

"Preferred seat" in Row 11 on Alaska Airlines 737-800.

A long-time fan of Alaska Airlines, but super disappointed in a flight last week from FAI-ANC on a 737-800. I was in row 11, called "Preferred Seats Located in the Main Cabin, these seats offer extra legroom. Available for an additional fee during booking or check-in." I am 5'6" and average weight, but sitting upright my knees were just a couple of inches from the seat in front of me. Had the person in front reclined their seat my knees would have been crunched and their head would have been in my lap. The row behind me was just as cramped. This was not an Alaska Airlines standard in any row in the past. It seems like "Shrikflation" has come to Alaska Airlines. Earlier this year we had multiple problems with flights, but attributed it to growing pains. In all cases the crew on board were absolutely amazing. I'm just so disappointed I am in Alaska Airlines management right now.

I can't login to my account without prodding to review this airline, which I've done six times now in six other states. Anchorage: never a problem. Folks are always superb. We usually take some oddball flight leaving at 1:00am or 5:00am (when people are just starting their shift). Even at that hour these good people have been exemplar at their job. Even the flight crew that I know out of the area are the greatest. The three that come to mind are Lisa, Jane and Samm. Especially, Samm. After our last flight we bumped into her on the way home at a Target. It's funny to see her expression when we tell her what happened behind her back. While she can't really chime in as to events on the flight, you can almost read her mind when it comes to recalling the occasional idiot that was across from us. If you could tip flight attendants, I'd double her tip. Fast, efficient, friendly! The airline could use more like her. Oh and she's cute, too!!! 09/23

Disrespectful to customers, withholding personal goods that are left behind when folks are trying to rightfully obtain them back ! Making people come not once not twice not even 3 times to the airport but 5 plus times now to obtain their own personal goods because they can't manage to do their jobs like be at the counter an do customer service let alone have a key onsite to obtain items for customers. You know it's THEE WORST customer service in THEE ENTIRE airport when TSA is aware that they are NEVER there to do their job! Let alone that every other airline desk that you ask help from to try a figure a way to a resolution also tells you they're never there when they should be at the ticket counter. Seriously don't fly with them they need to just leave the airport if they can't manage basic customer service requirements. Like speaking respectfully to customers and not walking off or hanging up the phone with saying I can't help you right now I'm busy bye.

Alaska, I love you and in the case of Delta I have to say the same…read more.. Its all good here. Great gate agents, now in B concourse and generally always on time. I get a kick out of the mass of humanity that accumulates in preparation for red-eye flights in and out of ANC. Most of the year, Delta's flights out of ANC depart around 1am immediately following a flight arrival...the terminals are like half way houses for travelers, tourists and other wandering sorts who find themselves out of their hotel or home at a time when they are normally expecting to be asleep. Delta does a good job of keeping the chaos to a minimum, getting the planes loaded and in and out on time. However, there was that one time that a complete drunk made it on board and passed out in an emergency exit row...that was almost comical to watch the flight crew coerse him out of his seat so that a competant individual could man the emergency exit in the event of an emergency. I wanted to beat the idiot sensless but he was already there so why waste the energy, right? These are Delta jets here too so no small planes and generally great on-board service. The flight attendants keep liquored up in the front and sufficiently satisfied in the back to make it through the typically 5 hour flight from ANC to the lower 48. I have flown other airlines in and out of Alaska and find that Delta gives me the best service, best opportunity to upgrade and reliable departures. Oh yah, during the peak travel season they throw in some extra day time departures too...but be prepared to pay for the atypical travel times to Alaska.

However, Delta's scheduling practices and timing on the ground for arriving flights need more work. Yes, there are more air travelers in 2019, but that should not be the reason for a 35 minute delay to get to a taxi way for a flight that just landed. My inbound flight had last minute arriving gate changes that caused anxiety for flyers that had connecting flight layovers of under 60 minutes. The flight crew could do little, but meekly offered that "all flights are delayed, so you may still make your connecting flight." At my final LAX destination we had a 45 minute ground delay; we docked at a changed gate, it was 35 minutes before the plane could leave for the correct terminal.

No phone contact at all. No contacting you. You must sit and wait for an ungodly amount of time for one of them to speak up. So there's no one to report Uber driver crimes to. The cops defer to Uber. Uber just ignores it. No justice. Today, an Uber driver rode off with my phone, refused to answer my phone or Uber support when they called to inquire about it, drove an hour out to Wasilla, and dumped it in the woods. I was one of Uber's first customers when they first started in only three cities. Today, they lost my business permanently. This was a major wake-up call to how unsafe Uber has become. I'm posting this review now so others may be aware that if your driver commits a crime against you, the police and Uber both may leave you hanging dry... and allow that driver to keep on doing to others what they were doing to you. The screenshot is what you get from Uber support if you try to report anything involving illegal activities. That's all. There is a driver named Kaitlin who gets ridiculously high while driving (to the point she can't communicate with the passenger) and won't return your phone if you leave it behind. I would highly advise avoiding rides with anyone by that name who drives a Kia Sportage with the license plate JXW941.
