I need to give a special shout out to John in the office at Alara. He's amazing. He has gone above and beyond for us to make every day of our stay a five star stay. The building is always clean, maintenance responds immediately to all needs, and all staff goes out of their way almost daily to make my special needs son feel like a rockstar. I cannot emphasize enough how pleased I am with these apartments. The apartment is spacious, the pool is clean, and the lounge area is gorgeous. There are parties for the tenants with lots of free goodies to be had as well. I've never seen a place quite like this. We are treated like VIP every single day. Avoid at all costs. Management and front desk is unhelpful. Jon is particularly difficult. If you want to receive your packages, you'll have better luck finding a needle in a haystack, and they just say "Sorry about that!" It's extremely overpriced and fees seem to add up for no reason. This is my first apartment in Denver, I moved from Southern California and all I have to say is I love Alara and never want to leave. It's a little pricey but worth every Penny, location is amazing can walk everywhere. I can go days without leaving the building, take an elevator to your private entrances the market or amazing gym, computer/printer and WiFi room, coffee and morning snacks everyday. The office staff are all very nice and make us feel loved. They are always throwing fun events and leaving us nice presents. This place is the best I would recommended to family and friends. I've lived here a little over a year. location is awesome, apartments are ok. when it comes to cleanliness, I give this property one star. The trash area is usually filthy. The carpet in the hallways are disgusting you can visibly see what looks like old vomit, dirt and who knows what else. on top of that they try mask the filth with over powering air fresheners that are enough to make a person sick. my car was also broken into which our parking area is supposed to be secured. They told me it was a police matter but I don't think the police needed to be involved if they would have had security as they were supposed to.. i've lived at the Pullman and at platform at Union Station. Both of those apartments are five star excellent very clean and secure. I cannot wait to move out of here. read more

They will do anything to fu*k you over and get more money, they won't tell you what it's for. Maintenance requests are always fixed and responded to within 48 hours. No complaints at all about the leasing staff, they are always very helpful! WORST application experience I have ever had. When we (27f and 29f) first toured, the leasing agent, Jon, was very nice and personable. The unit we wanted unfortunately suffered water damage from the previous tenant and didn't have a specified date for move-in just yet, so he offered to honor the price of another unit if we applied that day. So we did! Within a few hours, they had updated the unit number like we discussed, but also raised the rent from the quoted price about $260. I regret not asking for our initial agreement in writing, I had hoped it wouldn't be needed since we confirmed multiple times with two separate agents, but just goes to show the level of trust you can have with this property. After we attempted to fight the raise in price, with no luck, we decided to move forward anyway since we really liked the property and location. We sent all of the proof of income that was asked of us and was approved on their list of income source options (my income alone is about 3x the rent and we both have great credit). We waited patiently, but did not hear back for a week. After sending multiple emails, Jon called my roommate and told her that my emails requesting an update made him "want to not work as hard" for us. I cannot even begin to express how unprofessional this man was on the phone. He made multiple comments about how "annoying" we were and how we should go look somewhere else if we feel they are taking too long. Not only was he extremely unprofessional and rude, he told my roommate to change the details on their income proof to make it more believable!! I'm not sure the exact legalities of this, but I can't imagine this is even remotely an okay suggestion to make. After all of this, we were denied because "There are inconsistencies with documentation from one or more applicants that we are unable to verify." I can only assume he asked us to make those changes so he would have an excuse for us to be denied. I am very dissatisfied with the service and level of professionalism this apartment complex provides. Unfortunate, since it is a very nice and convenient location. read more

Lived here 14 months & signed another lease to 2024. I've listed both good and the bad as I want to be fair. Reason I give Alara a 1 star lies entirely on the greed of their management and lack of respect they have towards good standing residents as I hold a high regard on customer service, especially when you're paying over $3,000/month for rent. THE BAD: Alara management has absolutely no empathy for residents who suffer from severe maintenance issues affecting them. Ex: elevators breaking multiple days in a row, parking garage gates not opening causing you to have to park on the street & my favorite, fire alarms going off literally from 3 am to 4 am for about 2 weeks straight. Now I will say, management is quick in trying to repair these issues but will never consider giving any residents a break in rent for their suffering especially the fire alarm system and made it clear money is far more important than tenants. They'll also quickly hit you with a $145 late fee on rent, even if it's for utilities. Ex. I prepaid my rent prior to leaving the country but was unable to pay the utilities since we're not given that bill until the 1st of the month. Upon getting back on the 9th, I got a nice summons at my door demanding for rent with a $145 late fee for a $175 utilities bill I was 4 days late in paying. Upon calling management, they told me they already waived a late fee for me the first month I moved in and despite that fee being waived because it was a technicality on Alara's end , they used the first waiver as an excuse not to waive it for me not. No empathy at all and no appreciation over the fact I had just signed another 12 month lease, I'm a model tenant who at one time escorted a homeless person solo who was camping inside and I also sustained a minor back injury in Alara's weight room due to negligent install of their weight straps. Not looking for any awards here but maybe some consideration when deciding to throw a $145 late fee my way on a $175 utilities invoice. But not here. The typical greedy landlords who don't appreciate their customers. Other factors to consider which pretty much apply to anywhere living in downtown, not just Alara, is if you're facing the street, you'll hear plenty of mentally ill homeless people screaming profanity in the middle of the night and a lot of traffic noise from morons who believe it's cool to remove the muffler on their car so everyone within 10 miles can hear them. Plus Denver Metro Fire Dept loves to blare their sirens at night. But again, that's with any downtown location. Now the good about Alara, the front office folks and leasing agents are really nice but they don't make the decisions regarding any rent issues. Now if you have anything wrong with your apartment, including a burned out light bulb, you can put in a work order to their maintenance team and they are quick to respond and repair it for free. That's Awesome! The weight room is nice (despite the weight straps being installed incorrectly) & the pool area is very nice although I'm surprised there's no jacuzzi. Alara is kept very clean. For the last couple weeks one of Alara's parking garage gates appears to be broken as it is permanently open and I was pleasantly surprised to find that Alara hired a full-time security guard to sit in a patrol car and guard the gate 24/7. This is impressive! You are also a 10 minute walk from Union Station, Coors Field & a lot of other cool downtown places. Alara is very dog friendly with a free dog grooming area you can use & a free bicycle maintenance area. King Soopers right at the tip of your fingers with a private entrance for residents only which is cool. Again, Alara deserves a 1 star rating for the fact they don't appreciate their tenants & use no discretion when lobbying late fees whenever possible. They need to be held accountable and appreciate their tenants! read more

I moved here from CA and have had a really bad experience, mostly with the from desk. Jon is particularly difficult and horrible costumer service. My mail went missing and his response was like "Yeah, sorry, nothing we can do about that!" He's really not good with any issues and I'm surprised that they have someone like that working at the front desk as his "desk side manner" is so confrontational. I wish I had come to yelp to read other reviews before signing my lease. I think it's overpriced too. BEWARE - management is sleazy, racking up fees and costs, half of which they cannot explain. MOST IMPORTANT - do not sign a lease with any AUTO RENEW CLAUSE. Our lease stated that if you did not provide notice of vacating your lease or not renewing 60 days prior to the end of the lease, it will automatically review as a month to month rental (in our case) for $1300 per month more than current rate. Because of travel, we did not give our notice until 51 days before end of lease. Lived in a number of apartment buildings across the country and never came across such a provision. They charged inflated rent for 9 day even though we were out by end of of original lease end date. Effectively they charged almost $1000 more. Adding insult to injury, they just sent another bill for $101 without any explanation. There are plenty of other buildings in the area that are more reputable. There are mice running around the outside of the building at night, people don't pick up after their dogs if the dog has an accident in the halls, homeless people are all over and I've been followed at night when walking my dog multiple times. And I'll never forget walking out to a dead pigeon in front of the front door one night and watching some guy walk up and start kicking the dead bird and and blocking the entryway. Moved into this "luxury" apartment. Carpets were dirty and not cleaned. The balconies were filthy. The glass outside of the balcony never cleaned. Amenities have been closed for months. When asked if any discounts or refunds would be offered was told no that we signed an lease that said they had the right to close amenities at any time. I expect closures for maintenance etc but when everything is closed including the dog wash, for extended times, there should be a discount offered. We chose to break our lease early due to the regular noise of neighbors playing music at the pool and their apartments on weekends and regular fire alarms that will cause your ears to ring in pain. Pros - above average apartment gym, - business center which is nice for working remotely, - pool, - secure underground garage parking, - King Soopers grocery store downstairs, - maintenance is quick and generally fixes requests within 24 hours Cons - the pool gets loud during weekends in the summer, I would not recommend a unit facing the pool, - the general demographic in 2019 was a lot of young professionals who like to party on the weekends, - people leave trash in the trash rooms even though they are not supposed to and they get really stinky - The area around the building and grocery store attracts a lot of homeless. OH MY WHERE TO START!!! We chose this location for the King Soopers, location and the supposedly pet area. We did like the newness of the building and thought the quality would be appropriate for our time here while our house was being built. We had to move in to a 2 br initially because our 3 br was not done as promised! after a 6 week delay we finally moved in. I agree with all previous poor reviews on ELAN. Mgmt is very poor and condescending to say the least. Krista looked at me when I complained like I was crazy and talked to me like I was 2. I even asked if I could have the new CALIFORNIA owners email. I was ignored! Ryan was the only personable, professional person I spoke with in the entire 15 MONTHS WE lived there! You can hear everything in the hallways as you walk thru. The fee for the garbage valet is 35 a month and yes people leave their garbage out by the door. Maybe because It is totally disgusting when you go to take your garbage to the garbage chute room and the area is full of boxes, garbage and overflowing garbages chutes. Once there was kitty litter spilled on the floor. Yep I was the one with the blue recycle bag in one of the reviews! The spots on the carpet were not from us... If you aren't bothered by the homeless then you will love it here! ALWAYS loitering near the pet area, benches, the back door, sidewalk. On one occasion a drunk/high young women danced and yelled for two hours in the morning, starting a 6am. Called the police and nothing was done because you know this is public property. Eating there coco puffs in the early am, sleeping on the benches, smoking not just cigarettes! Dirty clothes, blankets left all over the place. Chicken bones, plastic food containers...I was approached in King Soopers by a young homeless person and asked to buy them milk and cereal. AND I went to restroom and another women was in there basically cussing at herself in the mirror and partially bathing herself! ON TWO and yes TWO occasions a person defecated on the sidewalk at the back of the building. I called Jamie @ leasing office to let them now and it sat there till Monday (2 days) and I finally found Ryan and he had it cleaned up. Really??? Needles and drug paraphernalia on sidewalks. AND if not that you will find dog urine on the corners of the Northwest corners of the building! Building not secure! Doors not locked. Even a security guard told me a door not secure and he wrote it up 3x. Nothing was done. We had someone try to open our apt door 2x in the middle of the day. We reported it to mgmt. OF course they said "we have never had a break in or anything like this." 2 days later a letter was sent out to all tenants that a break in had a occurred and personal property stolen. This happened 2 weeks prior to our report. Fire alarms are a constant here! The parking gate was broke for numerous days and if its not that, you have to sit behind a king soopers employee to wait for the security guard to come let them in to park. Elevators are sooooooo SLOW. You will see strangers constantly visiting because yes they rent out a few rooms. OH and don't think you can return anything at the kings without a receipt, due to all the theft ( numerous times security is following a shoplifter thru out the store) that goes on in this store you are treated like a criminal too... Will not be renewing my lease! Overpriced and understaffed. They have a valet trash service which beans people just leave bags of trash outside their door instead of their provided trash cans. This means the hallways have trash bags in them and for the amt you pay to live here it's gross. They allow Air BNBs and VRBOs which means it's noisy and I'm tired of living in a rotating barrage of people. There have been thefts in the building despite their claim of security. Until I notified them there were random people using the electrical outlets outside the building. The only redeeming things about this building are it's location and some of the staff members. I won't be recommending this place anymore like I did 6 months ago! Such a shame. These places keep getting worse. Boyfriend actually saw someone urinating off their balcony to the sidewalk below. It seems as though this place has become a shitshow which is a shame. Trash is dirty and they should discontinue the valet service. Dogs should be kept on leash all the time instead of owners letting them off leash like it's a free for all. There is trash all over the building cause there's no trash cans anywhere. For the amount we pay to live here we shouldn't be this disappointed in the building and living next to strangers who rent out the display apartments. When we moved into Elan Union Station Apartments in August 2015 they were well taken care of for the most part. We had very few problems. Before long Alara took over the property and things went down hill quickly. 1) The cleaning service does not keep up with the building. Trash is overflowing in many of the public areas for days at a time. The hallway carpets and common areas are not vacuumed, the carpets are stained with urine and/or spills, and the lobby is dirty and a mess. The whole building just looks dirty. 2) There are no guards on duty for much of the day and night. Even when there is a guard on duty he is no where to be found. 3) The elevator has been out of order 5 times in the last 2 weeks. According to the man who was fixing the elevator at 6:30 AM, the tenants are to blame. He asked me with attitude to tell my neighbors to be easier on it. 4) The metal gates securing the garage are broke again. The last time this happened it took 2 weeks or more to get them in working order. This is a security issue for obvious reasons. 5) There are many homeless people outside of King Soopers digging through the trash cans and just hanging around in one big group. Others are sleeping or sitting on the benches alone. When Elan owned the building the security guards would keep the homeless people from loitering. It felt so much safer. 6) Because of all the homeless people outside the building there are leftover chicken bones littering the side of the building for your dog to eat while you are taking him/her outside to go to the bathroom. There is no place to take your dog on the premises, so we are forced to take our dog in front of King Soopers. People don't pick up their dog poop and the building does nothing about it. 7) There was a period of time when the fire alarm would randomly go off for a long time. This happened in the afternoon, evening and even at midnight. We just had to wait it out. 8) The pool was closed for a while over the summer because of something in the water. Not sure what that was all about. I go to the pool very seldom, but was there once over the summer and saw a guy who was so drunk that his friends had to lift his body off one chair to another so he wouldn't get sunburn. The office person was giving a tour and walked right by the group and drunk guy without saying a word. 9) The management team will tell you they are working on catching those who rent out their apartment on AirBNB, but they don't appear to be doing anything about it. I have heard over and over again that they have corporate apartments here, but every weekend I see people dragging their suitcases in on Thursday and leaving on Sunday. I've asked several people where they are from and if they are here on business, but I've never had anyone tell me they are here for their company. The common response is that they found the apartment on AirBNB blah, blah, blah. 10) The dog wash seldom has shampoo in it. I still pay $10.00 to get water and a blow dryer. It's BYOS. My husband and I have both talked to the apartment managers on several occasions, but hear the same story; they are corporate apartments not AirBNB, they have security some of the time, outside the building is not an area they have control over, they only use one company to fix the elevator and garage door and they have a call in, etc. All excuses and little action. I would not rent this apartment again. It is not a luxury apartment, but a hotel. read more

Alara has a great location, is nice for living in general, and has friendly front office staff who are helpful regarding all routine questions. Though, the back office bureaucracy at the management company-level, and lack of flexibility amid the pandemic, has been awful. We would not recommend this place for living in 2020, due to the Greystar management company's pandemic response to its residents, as well as their unreasonable renewal policy at the end of your lease. Surprise! For my studio, the rate automatically went from $1471 all the way to $2953, with no flexibility due to COVID-19 even 45 days in advance of lease expiration. Despite incoming residents getting lavish deals (1 month free, etc.), there's been zero compensation/offers for existing residents after taking away all amenities for three months (not even trying to partially open working spaces or gyms until mid-June, long after many surrounding properties did so). The pool and lounge remain forbidden, as of June 30. Though, the pool has actually never been open for the entire time that I've lived here (half of a year before COVID) - despite it being a major sales point. As mentioned above, Greystar's Alara Union Station has a clause imbedded in the 43-page lease contract, as well as behind the staple on the back page of the physical lease renewal offer, stating that your lease AUTOMATICALLY renews at a ridiculously high rate month-to-month, if you do not tell them multiple months in advance. read more

We spent a full weekend searching for a new place to call home, as we are relocating from Southern California. And when I say full, I mean it. I think we saw 12 apartments not counting the hours spent searching before our trip. We were sitting in front of an apartment building we were debating going into after not being able to get in touch with anyone and feeling fairly exasperated as we just weren't in love with anything we had seen thus far, and sitting across the road was Alara. I convinced my husband to go in, even though it seemed a bit out of our price range. The second we walked in, I was hooked. We were greeted by Mel, who is absolutely darling, and she informed us that she had a full day, but could fit us in the following day. We continued our day with a few more set appointments, but in the back of my mind I just knew that I was going to fall in love with Alara and I was trying to figure out how I could convince my husband to jump on board. Well, luckily I didn't need to do the convincing. Mel (Melanie) took us on the grand tour, and we continued to fall more and more in love with everything about it. The floor plans are more spacious than other units we looked at, and the amenities were well kept up and very clean. The gym had that new equipment smell, which I cannot say was true for some of the other complexes we visited. Mel never made us feel rushed, it never felt like a sales pitch, and by the end of our tour we felt like we were friends. The night after our experience at Alara was the second to last Game of Thrones episode, which I can fairly say was super intense. We also happened to watch it at a local gay bar with a drag queen hosting, which I'm sure you can imagine made for quite the evening. The thing that stood out to us was that after the show, all we could talk about was Alara and how excited we were to make that our new home. Mel - if you see this, thank you for everything!!!! When we moved in, June 2015, Kip and Ashley were The two people you could count on in the leasing office to always take care of anything needed. Not to mention they were a lot of fun, respectful, and seemed to really love what they did. When they left, things went to shit. The new crew in the leasing office are rude, have no idea what's going on and take no accountability. They have a deer in headlights look as soon as you walk in, a sour attitude follows that. The customer service leaves something to be desired, to say the least. It's comparable to going to the DMV. Nobody there likes their job and seems to enjoy saying "no" to everything asked instead of finding a solution. My boyfriends car got stolen from the secure garage and the leasing office was hesitant to help in any way. The after hours security was suspiciously oblivious and led us all I believe it was an inside job. They sit right in front of where he parks. There are people who should be recognized. The maintenance staff, Ryan and his team go above and beyond, as well as Melanie who is on the leasing transition team and someone who I've known for years to come in and turn things around. Unfortunately, shes only there until Alara, the new name is fully adopted. On a positive side note, our neighbors there are great! We have made life long friends here and it's in an awesome location. Bums do not roam the halls or get into the building, like I have experienced at other complexes in LODO. I'm not writing a review to trash Elan. I rarely write reviews unless it's truly an objective point of view and one that could help others. It's important you're aware of what you're getting into leasing here, although not everything has been bad. I have been living at Alara for 2 years now, and was initially living in the unit next door but had to be moved within the first few weeks due to a terrible odor that they were unable to find a cause for. The assistant manager, Samantha, at that time was very receptive and came up to inspect my unit and figured out a solution quickly. After moving, I've had a great experience living here until recently. I should note that the apartment I moved from was unable to rent for nearly an entire year due to the smell! Over the last several months, my current apartment has started to develop the same odor in the entryway/kitchen. After multiple maintenance visits for inspection/replacement of suspected equipment, there has been no improvement in the odor. The same maintenance supervisor recognized the odor from before and remembered all of the issues I had. I was additionally told by another maintenance employee that multiple units in my vicinity smell this way and there has never been a cause found. Two outside vendors were brought in to scan for moisture & inspect ductwork but did not find a cause. The odor is concerning as my allergies/asthma have been terrible during this time and I am worried that something is making me sick. All I was offered was to put in a scent machine to mask the smell, or move units but would have to start over with a completely new lease again. I asked to please terminate my lease 1.5 months early, giving them 2 months notice as required for courtesy as I cannot stand the smell, and their response after 2 weeks was the two vendors that came in "didn't smell" it so I was not allowed to waive termination. Both vendors that came in were wearing masks, the first was offered to remove his mask by the maintenance supervisor to smell but he said he was only there to check for moisture and was not interested. There is a new assistant manager now for the property, and not once has the management team come to my unit to inspect it. Additionally, the communication has been quite poor. It is frustrating that after being a loyal tenant for the last 2 years that the most I am offered is to pay an exorbitant fee (more than rent for the remainder of my lease) to terminate 1.5 months early, even after giving proper notice. I would not recommend this apartment complex or management team to anyone looking, as they clearly do not care about their tenants and will not offer help for issues that arise - even when they are out of the tenants control. UPDATE: The community manager's response is to have me "reach out to discuss further" after I have been reaching out to them for months trying to find a solution to this problem. Diffusing a frustrating situation with a statement that is incorrect is not helpful in an apartment community again shows they do not care about their tenants. My compromise was to give a 60 days notice so that I could move out only 1.5 months early, giving the complex a chance to fix the odor for the next tenant...but their response was - No, I must pay a large fee in order to move out early even after all of the frustrations this has caused. read more

The property is very nice aesthetically. However, when you get past the aesthetics, the overwhelming issues set in. 1. More resources should have gone into sound-proofing between floors. I was told there was concrete between floors, which is not turning out to be the case. I hear my neighbor 24/7 at times it's like they are in my apartment. Management says they have taken care of it, but nothing has changed, and they charge over $700.00 for tenants to relocated within the building, in addition to rent - crazy huh?! 2. The wood floors must be glued down, and do not appear to be tongue and groove, so with the Colorado dry air, the wood begins to shrink leaving huge gaps between planks which makes it very hard to keep floors clean. 3. The public spaces are very nice, but those resources would have been better spent providing the kind of living spaces that speaks to the high rent prices. 4. The community gatherings are well-planned and well-attended. 5. The gym is likely the best amenity, and has good equipment, but does not have enough towels, towels are not replenished at a reasonable rate, and often times there are bottled waters in the refrigerator and sometimes there are not. Consistency would be nice. 6. The business center is nice although I have never seen it crowded, again, a nice to have, but likely resources that could have gone into making each apartment unit nicer. 7. There is not enough storage in the kitchen, and the cabinetry is very shallow. 8. The access security features do not work, so either you get locked out and have to hope that your key fob works at another entrance or you're fortunate enough that King Sooper is open and you can cut through the store to gain entry into the lobby. The call-boxes do not work and have not since moving in months ago, which makes it a pain to have to run downstairs any time you have a guest since you do not have the ability to let them in remotely. They also lease vacant properties on Air B-n-B, which is FAR less scrutiny than the process I had to go through to be a tenant on a lease. I find that to be slightly discriminatory and I worry about safety. 9. The office staff is friendly and helpful at all times which is a bonus. They make tons of excuses and sometimes are defensive when they aren't being helpful. 10. The hallways are not vacuumed with any semblance of consistency even though house keeping staff is in the building daily. Price vs. Benefits/Experience is not balanced. This place is just too expensive given all of the issues that still exist even months after the initial opening of the facility. There are better built options in the downtown areas, and I wish I had more time to house hunt before I selected Elan - it definitely seemed promising and I "was" quite excited to live here. read more

I moved in roughly 12 months ago and took over for another tenant. Over the last 8 months my rent, amenities, and utilities have drastically increased due to their incompetence. Every 3 months there is some bs audit and they up charge you on everything. Packages are lost/stolen, and staff is vague and unhelpful with even simple requests at times. What an absolute joke! Avoid at all costs!! When a someone from the property came to 'fix' my completely fine thermostat, they turned off the hot water. My maintenance requests were ignored and I was out of hot water to 10 days! The complex tried to act like it was my fault. There are so many extra charges they don't tell you about up front, like an extra $50 a month for trash which just leads to the halls smelling with garbage all the time. It is such a noisy building where you can hear everyone all the time. There were frequent periods where the fire alarm would go off for like 20 minutes (no actual fire), and there is an industrial area nearby so I personally could not open my windows without hearing an industrial fan. It is so expensive under the guise of a "luxury" building, but save your safe some money and live in a place where they will not charge you for every single thing they possibly can. Honestly, I have never lived in a place that has nickel-and-dimed me more and I have lived in some shitty places. What a shitty experience this was and I am beyond relived I do give that shit-show money anymore. read more

I love renting here. This place is not only classy, also very thoughtful. Been here 2 months, and everything is clean and great. Including most of the residents whom say Hello. I submitted a service for my refrigerator, and it was fixed the next day with a nice note and bag of chips. I mean even when I moved in, I received a pizza and ice cream from them. Did I further mentioned is atop a Kong's Soops market? ....Yeah! And a Starbucks, a Wells Fargo bank, and bar & grill restaurant. In the past 2+ years I have lived in 4 different rental buildings in the Denver metro area. I could be described as...picky...when it comes to residential living expectations. Let me cut to the chase: Moving to Elan Union Station has been my best decision so far in Colorado. I am hard to please, and happy with Elan. Important highlights: - Good floorplans. - Nice design amenities. Little things matter here. The kitchen cabinets do not have the standard building grad door pulls. I know, who notices things like that? (whoops, I do.) - Nice enough pool (but I haven't actually tried it yet) - Great Location. I love this location, and it will only get better as more retail/bar/restaurants open, which will happen since all the buildings near here (and including here) have commercial spaces in them. - Great staff. This has been a deal-breaker for me at buildings in the past. The staff is competent here. I honestly like all them. Carmen, Kip, Luisa, Ashley, Jamie, Ryan, Xavier. Seriously, The staff is what sealed the deal here. - Parking spots are reasonably priced (especially compared to some of the buildings downtown). - There's a King Soopers IN the building. Oh yeah, convenient to shop in shorts and a t-shirt in January by taking our own grocery store elevator right to the inner door, oh yeah indeed!! Side story of relevance: I had a couple issues within the apartment upon first move-in, and I went to the office to report it/request fixes. Turns out, while I was speaking to Ashley (who showed me units when I was looking for an apartment) about it, Ryan (head of maintenance) was nearby and overheard my issue. Within 5 minutes of speaking to him, I realized he not only understood the problem, but clearly knew the best way to fix it. Ryan has been great. I have met a few neighbors, and no one seems crazy or rude, and all have been friendly enough, so there's another bonus. I have no second thoughts about moving here 3 months ago, and frankly, I wonder if I should have signed a longer lease. Gripes? Hmm...trying to be fair here. I don't want this review to be looked at as a biased one, even though I have no ties to the building other then living here. - Lounge/pool hours. I guess I can understand the possible noise coming from the pool if someone were making a bunch of noise in the middle of the night. And I suppose the same could be said for noise coming from the lounge. But honestly, I dislike being prevented from behaving responsibly. Methinks the lounge and pool should be 24/7 access, with the caveat that people not behaving properly should have their access limited. - It would be nice if the last commercial space were taken by a bar/restaurant with some good food. - I wish second parking spots were less expensive, for the smaller units. I'd rent a second one if they were. - I'd rather pay less for the trash/recycling service, or have composting as an option if I'm paying this much for trash/recycling - Sometimes I do hear my neighbor stomping around above me. But I honestly believe this to be limited to me having a super-heavy-footed idiot above me. And he never seems to sit down, which is weird. - I want trash cans at the both elevator bays. The elevator that goes to the King Soopers does not have trash cans on the P1 & P2 levels, unlike the main elevator lobbies. This is an actual gripe I have and want rectified. Come to think of it, I'd like one on the G level where the entrance to the King Soopers is too. Or maybe King Soopers could put one inside of their door near the exit to our elevators? That might be a better solution. But those gripes are seriously me to reaching for things to provide factual counterpoints. They're weak gripes, and I know it (other than the trash cans; that's legit. well, and maybe the lounge/pool not being 24/7). Overall, I love this building. This place WAS amazing to live in, then it was sold. When it was sold, the apartments filled up, and the people in the office were replaced it turned into close to the worst if not the worst place I've lived, which is nice considering the fact they charge luxury apartment level rents. The most glaring issue is the front office staff. No matter who you talk to they say they will get back to you because they cannot even help with the simplest of questions or issues. When you press them two or three times, the assistant manager, Krista, might get back with you. When this happens you'll be treated to a nice condescending reply and she might help out with a couple of your concerns. It's not like we had constant issues that we needed help with, maybe once every couple of months would this occur, mostly centered around change of policy revolving around the sale. This goes without saying, and I should have been more careful of it a few times, but make sure you get everything in writing before you leave the office. Whether through malice or incompetence, things were said that were simply not true. Twice I was told one thing, only to show them that they were incorrect and the correct policy was in the lease. The second issue, once the place passed around 40% occupancy, it became glaringly obvious that the walls are made of the thinnest material known to man. My neighbors weren't overly noisy, but because of the building material sounds carried through the walls easily. The elevators are painfully slow, and there are only 3 of them in the whole building. The moving elevator was constantly left open even after people were done using it to move, so really 2 elevators. The garage has cracks and leaks that deposit lime and damage paint, the damage to my truck was taken care of, but was a pain to deal with. I can only imagine the issues I would have had if the problem occurred while the new front office people were there. The pool area is nice during the week when there aren't a lot of people around, but on the weekend it's clear that they never enforced the 2 guest policy, as there were parties of 15-20 people, most of whom didn't live there. This was frustrating when there were no seats available for paying residents. I knew this going in, but didn't realize that it would bother me this much, but paying this much rent, and there's no hot tub? All of these things would be expected out of a mid level apartment building, but to pay for "luxury" living, these things are absurd. read more
