You know you frequent a place entirely too much when you call to place a delivery order, and the owner knows your order and address by heart before you say anything. It should go without saying that I love Alameda Pizza. I am not what you would call a pizza connoisseur. When it comes to pizza, I basically have the taste buds of a 7 year old. I really only eat pepperoni. While I can't speak to their other flavors, the pepperoni is AMAZING. It's greasy - which adds to the flavor, let's be honest - and the sauce is delicious. What more can you ask for with pizza? I understand that not everyone has had great service when it comes to delivery. My caveat here is that I live about a half mile away, so when I order delivery (for those nights when walking 10 minutes is just too much effort) it comes insanely quickly. Having a yard sale with my neighbors is hard work! We decide to order a pizza. Where? One neighbor says "How about Alameda Pizza?" I order a large mushroom and onion, delivered. I am told that it will take 35 minutes to arrive. It's 1:10pm. At 1:33, some guy shows up at the sale with a padded box. It's our pizza, a full 10 minutes earlier than expected. Alameda pizza is a god-send! Some friends and I were on our way back to the bay area after a road trip to Portland and we decided it would be a great idea to order a pizza and pick it up on the way. After reading some yelp reviews we quickly decided Alameda was the place to go. Not only did they stay open for us until we got there to pick up our pizza, they had an amazing selection of goodies (very important for us veggie heads). We ordered a spinach, garlic and mushroom alfredo pizza. It was amazing! Probably amongst the BEST pizza's I have ever had. The crust was so yummy, you could tell it was home-made! We got pizza delivered from here for the first time last night. I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised. We ordered a large Caeser salad and a "weight watcher" # 2 pizza (thin crust w/ pesto, sun dried tomato, zuchinni, red onion,bell pepper, mushroom, lite mozz, and parm). The salad didn't look too great, but the dressing was surprisingly good. Very lemony and creamy. Could they possibly make it in-house?? Pizza was good too. Not sure how "weight watcher" it was (especially when you eat 8 peices. ahem), but it sure was tasty. Lots of fresh veggies, good, not too greasy pesto, light on the cheese. Delivery was pretty prompt and friendly. While eating, we had fun reading the menu, which is very long and has many misspellings and some odd items. A side of sausage patty with meat sauce, anyone? This place has always had a great recipe, and to be totally frank sometimes they had off days. The quality control seems to be so much higher this year, they are using the same recipe that I love, but seem to be executing it better. The sauce always tastes fresh now, and the dough is always perfect. Came in today - Tuesday November 8th, 2011 for a slice of pizza. Every slice of pizza is pre-made with cheese and then they add the toppings at a cost of $0.50 each. I selected a Diet Coke and Slice of Pepperoni for $5.17. Overall the slice was average at best - classic industrial cheese and sauce. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. Round Table or Mountain Mike's Pizza Buffet is higher quality and roughly the same price. read more

Came into Alameda to go to the PinBall Museum but wanted to eat first, this place is just a block to half a block away. The pizza is Awesome!! The crust is crisp when you bite into it and the crust is crisp but also soft. I got a plain cheese but I'm sure all the toppings are good as well. 1 person working at the time I went and he was very nice and the pizza was made fast. Pizza is decent if you were lost in the woods for 3 weeks with no food and this was all you had. On another note, I setup a reservation for a large grad party. Checked in 1 mo, 2 weeks, 1 week and 3 days before the event. They send some other schmuck to call me the night before and say that can't accommodate my party and put me in a bad position. Tripping over this place, I have found the east coast version (or as close to it as it gets) with Alameda Pizza. Have ordered a few other things there: greek salad is huge. The lasagna sauce had a questionable flavor and the presentation reminded me of something that Stouffer's produces when you are too tired to cook your own. Just stick with the pizza. The only 2 men I ever see in there are polite, friendly and accomodating. It's a lovely, little independently owned pizza place that is no frills, not fancy and has a tv so you catch the baseball game because you had to work late and your friends sold your ticket to a scalper@!@! I was craving some cheap Italian the other day, calzoni or something to that effect, and seeking the aid of Yelp, I saw a listing and the idea of pizza enticed me. I read some reviews of this place and when I came across one that said it had baklava- I was out the door. You don't have to tell me twice. I had three slices, double topping on each (plus one bonus slice- I'll get to that in a minute)- cheap went out the window in a flash; I wanted to get the overall feel for the place. One slice, pepperoni and mushroom, another pepperoni and pineapple (I had a sweet tooth calling out) were both good. The pineapple topping served me well later on as the slices in general seemed a bit salty. Ya, they don't skimp out on the toppings, so a plus there. My third slice however, a sun dried tomatoes and spinach, was ok. Some of the tomatoes were burnt, just a bit too long in the oven, maybe the combination topping was tricky to time. The pizza bread itself was good and chewy, only the third slice was off a bit. I also like the fact that it was a thin crust. As to cutting the slices in half- not so much. For the size of their slices, I would have preferred to fold the pizza, next time I'm going to request no cutting. So yes, the pizza here warrants another visit and considering the other pizzerias in Alameda, this one tops them. I did have two of their baklava and although small, they were good enough, and ya, that made it worth my short drive over there. The lady behind the counter was nice and patient with me, for I took longer than usual to decide what to get and wasn't so clear at the outset. When my order to go was ready, she said that she included a free slice of cheese pizza (hence, the fourth). That was cool of her. That slice was good for the most, once again, just a tad bit salty, but hey it was free. As I was waiting for my order I noted the interior was lit only by the decorative neon lighting, and yet it was bright enough. Being that it wasn't a busy nite, they didn't bother to turn on the main dining lights. Kudos for them for being green or thrifty, which ever way they swing it- worked good for me. I ended up spending more than a cheap Italian meal that I had in mind, but in so doing, I've found a new place to fill my pizza craving in Alameda. read more

It was a sad pizza day for me when I moved to Alameda about 11 years ago. One place after another had the same, Dominoes type crappy pizza. Then came Alameda Pizza. We couldn't believe how good it was, even by San Francisco and our East Coast standards. It must have been a fluke. So we tried again. And again. And again again again again again. We've since moved out of Alameda, but I still DRIVE from Oakland to get this pizza. Absolutely perfect balance of sauce and cheese. Sauce is really good, rich. Cheese is plentiful. Crust excellent. Their thin crust "weight watcher" is also excellent, an unusual combo of sun dried tomatoes, zucchini, lite mozzerella, onions. Delish and of course we eat two of 'em to make up for the healthiness factor... If that weren't enough, and belive me, it is, they also make some of the best take-out wings in the Bay Area! Nice, large, meaty wings, coated in a slightly spicy, tangy sauce and baked in the pizza oven. Not fried, not covered in orange goop, highly recommended. The small staff is as friendly as can be, will learn your name and preferences and treat you like a member of the family. I wish they'd open a place up in Oakland! read more

I want to give this place a good review, but the other night I ordered a deep dish from Alameda Pizza that was just a poor excuse for pizza. The dough in the middle of the pizza was all cheese and was undercooked so that I had to scrape it off of the box. I understand it may be harder to get a deep dish right but the cook should have never given us this pie. When we called to complain and get a refund (something I have never done) the cook laughed and said that he knows it was sub-par and he shouldn't have sent it out. Of course there was no manager there to help us and when we called back the next day, he was still not there to help us. I am no fan of chain fast food restaurants, but my advice is to save your 30 bucks and get a 5$ pizza from Dominoes. read more

Our favorite pizza joint on The Island. We order there at least once a month. Owners are friendly and even remember our usual order when we call. We especially like the thick crust pizza, it's doughy and light. A small thick crust is plenty of food for two people.
