I was very surprised at the very lax/vague statement of work, the proposed price tag of $25,000 and the fact that when I wouldn't sign at 9:00 PM, the quote paperwork was taken away. I ended up with a master plumber who determined the cause and repaired the pipes for a fraction of the proposed amount.

Replaced the valve and added 3 more redundant valves. The work took less than 2 hours. Plumber used crimp bands and pex instead of pro-press,soldering and copper . To me it was pricey but ever since 2020 I guess prices went up. Honestly expected to pay around 1000, but it is what it is . The weird thing is that he requested cash or Zelle only for payment . No option for credit cards or checks which was odd since every GC I hired took credit cards. While he was getting parts , I had to go to the bank and get cash withdrawals . Took a star off for the inconvenience.

DESERVES ZERO STARS! I'm renovating a bathroom and setting up new laundry room in my house in…read moreSheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. I shared approved Dept of Buildings plans and supervisor came out for a walk-through and verbally quoted me $20,000, saying as he left he'd write the detailed proposal based on his $20,000 verbal quote. However, when he emailed his proposal the price shot up 92.3% to $38,460.00! I emailed back to get justification, but never received a response to the exorbitant markup from the verbalized quote at my house. I wanted to know why Harris would not honor the $20,00 I was quoted during the site visit? I have been a repeat client of this business paying $1000s at each of their visits to do my plumbing work, and was told that because of this fact, I'd get a slight discount on my renovation proposal for the plumbing aspect. But a 92.3% markup from original quote of $20,000 is extortion, fraud and just bad business practice to say the very least! I found out also that they don't come out and tell you that they charge a discharge/service fee to come out, but $150/per hour of travel time is quietly--not disclosed to customer--added to their bills, yet never disclosed to you upfront. They were coming from the office location in Brownsville and I'm all the way down south on Avenue Z in Sheepshead Bay and they must take the side streets to get to me because commercial vehicles are not permitted on the Belt Parkway. I will stop being a repeat loyal customer to Harris Plumbing and Heating and will not refer them to anyone else ever again. I'll be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau also. Good riddance Harris Plumbing and Heating!

No repairs were done, no meaningful diagnosis was provided, yet I was billed $280.35 for "one hour of service." Moreover, this is something they could have easily asked me to check prior to coming over. At no point before the visit was I informed of a mandatory one-hour minimum charge. Only after the technician declined to perform the job was I handed paperwork with that language buried above the signature line. This is a classic bait-and-switch, no disclosure up front, refusal to provide the service, and then a hefty bill.

We hired A Real Good Plumber (Paul Shay) in July 2026 under a signed $4,000 contract to restore gas…read moreservice to our three-family building in the Bronx - a building sitting without gas, with tenants displaced. The signed contract required a $2,000 "startup payment," which we paid, and included filing the required LAA with the NYC Dept. of Buildings, which he confirmed in writing would be filed within five business days. Twenty-nine days later, the LAA was never filed. Instead, after a site visit, he sent new contracts nearly tripling the price - then claimed the new price was "in addition to" the signed contract, and finally claimed our $2,000 startup payment was actually a "site visit fee," something that appears nowhere in any document he wrote. We terminated for non-performance and demanded the refund; as of this review it has not been returned. Every claim in this review is supported by the signed contract, payment records, and his own emails.
