Since I came to Halifax I didn't enjoy a meal that much. It was so delicious!! The Fatoush Salad is yummy!! arabian shawarma is to die for!! The mixed grill was great with rice. I'm Arab and it's very hard to find a shop in Halifax that makes food similar to what we make at home or what i usually have in the old days. I love their food very seasoned and delicious such as the kabab and rice or the shawarma wraps with fries or rice! Their hummus is excellent too and the design on the inside is amazing, so Arabian and homey. I ordered their shisha ( hookah) and their apple was definitely recommended if u wanna smoke. The only thing thats not good is their poutine. Ordered than by mistake and probably shouldn't have tasted horrid. They sometimes mix up with your order so you may want to check it before u leave the place with an order as well! Overall, i come here with my family a lot and we love it here. Wonderful experience. Our decision to try this was largely a curiosity having driven past it many times this year when we visit my mom who lives near by. At 5pm on a Summer Saturday I expected a crowd, but it was empty but busy with lots of take out activity. Apparently they get busy after 8. We each tried a different dinner plate and shared. All were excellent. Lamb shank, Tandoori Chicken, chicken Shawarma. The shawarma had an interesting spice flavor that reminds me of cinnamon, but was something else. I finished it off with Turkish coffee, which is somewhat like espresso, but has a lot more sediment in the bottom of the cup if you don't stir it up. Definately will be back. read more

Tried this place for the first time last night and was not disappointed. We started with the baba ganoush. It was the best baba ganoush I have ever tried. It had a wonderful smokiness to it. I had the tandoori shawarma as a main dish and it was amazing. I also tested the shawarma and shish taouk that others at our table had ordered and it was all very fresh and perfectly seasoned. Our waiter recommended the rice for a side and I was glad he did. It was really delicious! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was the service could have been better. Our waiter was very friendly but no one checked in on us to see if we need anything and we had to ask for the bill after sitting around a while. I could understand if it was busy, but it wasn't. Overall, I was very impressed by this place and looking forward to going back. read more

Went there on date night for the first time tonight and barely no one there- I think it is a best kept secret. Had the Beef kabab plate-2 beef kebabs on yellow saffron rice, a refreshing salad and hummus served with pita bread in a basket. Bf had Lamb plate- a huge bone in piece on saffron rice. It was all delicious and great mix of flavours, fresh and hot. I don't eat lamb but when I tried it- oh so tender and delicious. Service great- will be back! Ps: sit on the private areas with couches and pillows and you won't need to come back as you will never leave- so comfy and intimate. read more

I liked their food and the options.. service wasn't bad either.. decided to try the delivery option considering that they are only a couple of kms away from where i work.. shawarma..tabboleh..and laban.. i got a bill for 33 Dollars had to tip of course.. I was surprised. considering that the whole thing should have cost less than 23 dollars.. but i guess it was the delivery charge.. well I would recommend you visit them for the good food.. but think twice before asking for delivery.. read more

Cool decor. Cool vibe. I think it may be the only hookah bar in the HRM now that Ottoman Cafe has closed (correct me if I'm wrong). Ottawa shawarma shops have spicy garlic sauce as well as regular garlic sauce (also occasionally oregano sauce), Halifax shawarma shops haven't seem to caught on yet, but Aladdin has! I ordered a chicken shawarma plate with all salad instead of rice. She charged me extra for the salad and spicy garlic sauce, and my meal was over $20, which is insane. In any other major city you'd get the exact same thing for $10 less. After all the excitement I gathered over the spicy sauce, she forgot to put it in the box. That was annoying. I have to say the salad was really delicious, Lebanese salad (fatoush), is terribly underrated. it has fried pita chips in it and a delicious balsamic dressing. The hummus and pita were good too. The shawarma itself was disappointing. Their garlic sauce is solid, but the chicken wasn't shaved off a spit, which is a deal breaker for me. It was just chopped chicken breasts. The lady who served me was also not particularly nice. I'd come back to try the spicy garlic sauce and maybe some different items off the menu, but I can't recommend the chicken shawarma. read more

Tried here for lunch on an overcast Tuesday in December at about 11:50. We were the only customers in the restaurant at first, and within the hour there, I think only two take-out customers came, so assuming this place must get busier in the evenings if it's successful enough to stay in business. We were greeted immediately by a gentleman who I assume is the owner. The atmosphere is very Mediterranean/Middle Eastern, with colorful decor, basic wooden tables for about 50 people? Three cozy shisha/hookah lounges with pillows and comfy furniture for probably another dozen people, a bit of natural lighting coming in. There are daily specials written out, but a regular menu with a good selection of options. I had the chicken schwarma plate which had a generous serving of rice, a good dollop of hummus, fair amount of seasoned white chicken strips, and salad. I could only eat maybe half and took the rest to go, and it was very flavorful, costing maybe $13.95? I wanted to try their Turkish coffee, but they didn't have any that day, so I settled for a green tea. My friend had their beef kabob plate with the same rice and salad, and was able to finish all of his, commenting that it was very good and he'd get it again for sure. He didn't ask for anything to drink and the server didn't actually offer water we realized afterwards, which is kind of bad, but he didn't care. The shisha flavors are available on the food menu, which is fun. (Just for those who don't know what it is: "Shisha smoking - also called hookah, narghile, waterpipe, or hubble bubble smoking - is a way of smoking tobacco, sometimes mixed with fruit or molasses sugar, through a bowl and hose or tube"). I only tried it once and found it fun, but didn't think to have any with lunch yesterday, seems like more an evening activity. Maybe next time! read more

So I just moved to Halifax and saw the good reviews and wanted to try it out. When I pulled up there was so much litter and cigarette butts around the entrance that I was turned off. If a place cant be bothered to clean the entrance of its business then I can only imagine the kitchen. Im still interested in trying but will not be going back until its cleaned up outside. I expected better from Canada. Theres like a five gallon buckets worth of cigarette butts under the patio. The marijuana place next door looks cleaner. This is in my neighborhood and everytime i drive by I notice the same beer bottle and trash lying around. Dirty. I drive by the place everyday and as of Oct. 24 the same beer bottle and timmies cup and cigarette butts that have been there for the last few months are still there. Filthy. Clean up! read more

I have just had the most amazing Chicken Shawarma at Aladdin. The chicken was unbelievable and the garlic sauce and hummus are the best I've ever had. Amazing food, unique atmosphere and really great service! I don't think they have a very large staff team as there is usually only one man in the kitchen and one waitress there at a time? We thought that was a bit odd but neither the food nor the service is lacking. We always have the same young girl serving us, and we are very well taken care of by her every time we come. The owner and his staff are very friendly and helpful. The decorations and music feel like home! I usually get the beef kabob with garlic fries, and its delicious every time! the Tandoori and lamb are also incredible. Ive recommend this place to my friends. read more

Aladdin's was recommended to me by a good friend, who is well aware of my love of Middle-Eastern type foods. Firstly, the food on the menu and the food on the on-line menu didn't match, so trying to plan ahead on what to order - as I like to do - didn't work. At the restaurant, I had wanted to start with a hot drink - it was chilly outside and I wanted to warm up. I was informed there was no regular coffee, only Turkish. Sadly, although I believe Turkish coffee to be very good, I do know that it would be far too strong for me. I ordered a falafel plate, and it was reasonably good and tasty. However, the service, or total lack thereof, was very noticeable. We finished the meal, and even half an hour later the plates were not removed from the table. In fact, the server never did come to the table, other than to bring water at our request. Consequently there was no offer of dessert or tea/coffee. I definitely missed ending my meal with a hot drink, and possibly dessert. read more

We come to Aladdins quite often and are a huge fan of their shawarma and today tried their grill platter which was a great as a sampler to give you a taste of everything. Sooooo gooood. The option to have shisha while waiting for your meal makes it a great spot to share with friends. I just had my take home baklava and it was the best around. so delicious.
