Total dive, we almost walked out after walking in but I know the secret to finding hidden gems is taking chances. The counter service was spotty but I think the girl working the counter was doubling with doing other jobs too. I ordered the brisket with baked beans and green beans and the sides were the prize of my plate. The brisket was average but the baked beans had a hint of brown sugar flavor to them that set them off. The green beans had somewhat of a smiley flavor and were juicy and cooked just right. The service was exceptional and the spot was in close proximity to University of Cincinnati, and all in walking distance. the sides were good ((7.5/10), but personally I wouldn't recommend the chicken. Got Alabama Que delivered through Uber eats yesterday for the first time. I ordered the pulled pork + hot sauce, greens and macaroni and cheese. All of it was insanely delicious and generously portioned. The greens were perfectly cooked and the Mac and cheese was gooey cheesy + topped with a crispy cheesy top! Sometimes they're great, other times not soo much! I've ordered from them hundreds of times! So i can see the inconsistencies. This time around I ordered the beef brisket, mac, and green beans. The beef brisket was more so on the dry side. Ive had more tender and fattier pieces before that were wayyyy better from here! The macaroni is actually pretty consistent. Overly cheesy. Sometimes just TOO much and not much flavor/salt. The green beans which I dont get often, but did this time were pretty good. I enjoyed the pieces of smoked turkey throughout. I always seem to sniff out the best BBQ. This one is two blocks from where my son practices in Cincy. Meat is well smoked, tender, juicy, and full flavored. Sauce is a perfect balance of savory sweet with a bite of heat that'll keep you licking your fingertips for hours afterward. Don't look closely while passing by, and you might miss it. My wife and I heard the food was good, so we chose to stop in. We ordered the rib tips, turkey tips and a couple of sides. The male personnel we encounted were arrogant, to say the least. Once we got home, we were SORELY disappointed by the chewy, cardboard consistency of the product. My relationship with Alabama Que goes back to 2012. My brother would tweet about it every week and peeked my turkey tip curiosity... in late August 2012.... I experienced them for myself. They were amazing!! 2013 was all about the turkey tips. Every get-together we had, we purchased a pan of turkey tips. But as time went on, sprinkled in with the amazing food, we'd get a batch of dry tips or have to wait much longer than promised.. and our trips to Alabama Que's decreased. I probably haven't been in 8 months and I wasn't really missing them, but I was at my mom's house and came across a special where the Alabama Que guy was talking about his food. Prior to the special, I had no clue that they used Amish turkey, or that his food was such high quality. I had forgotten what I was missing. I called my husband and asked him to pick some up on his way home. He ordered 3 turkey tip meals with sides of baked beans (2), greens, Mac and cheese, potato salad, and green beans . Our meals were delightful!! We didn't enjoy the green beans, but everything else was spot on! The portions were great and hubby said the wait was less than 10 minutes. We were looking for a good place to eat near University of Cincinnati Hospital and near The Graduate Hotel where we are staying and saw the Listing for Alabama Que on a sheet the hotel gave us. Since we are from Al and like Barbeque we thought we would give it a try and we are so glad we did!!! I got the pulled pork with baked beans , Yams and Banana pudding! The smoked meat was super moist, seasoned just right and has a sauce unlike any I have ever tasted...not sure what was in it but it was good The yams, baked beans and banana pudding were also good. On top of that the owner and everone who served us were extremely nice and even showed us a better way to go home! Went here on a Saturday night and ordered a regular dinner plate with turkey bits and beef brisket (original sauce) with a side potatoe salad and baked beans. Also ordered cornbread,sweet mango iced tea, and strawberry cake. It was my first time here and it was well worth it. It is available on ubereats but we all went here for Saturday night dinner. The location itself is fairly small and it apparently is a popular place for ordering catering size portions. The bbq was amazing. The tea was perfect and not too sweet. I had the Turkey Tips. Generous portions of smoked turkey tips, with the right amount of BBQ sauce on top, I chose the hot BBQ. The turkey is flavorful and very tender, almost able to cut it with the provided plastic fork. My two side items were the green beans and the potato salad. Both were fine, but after seeing the pictures on his website, I almost wish I had gone with the collard greens as they look fantastic! The proprietor, a gentleman named Dwan, was more than accommodating to our crew. He offered up his own review of all his menu items, a reccomnedation of his turkey chili (I had a cup, it was great!) and even his own viewpoints on Cincinnati Chili. My Lunch cohort had the wings. Much larger than the wings you find at your typical BW3's and the like, these wings were cooked crispy, lightly breaded, and according to him "Tasty." I got this delivered through Uber Eats and WHOA- this meal was banging!! I got the two meat, two side combo- Brisket, beef ribs, Mac n cheese and potato salad with a bread roll. Including the service fee (had free delivery ) it was $13 and it was so worth it!! The hot BBQ sauce has a nice kick to it. It's all about the food. You don't go there for atmosphere. This place is on my list for return business.

I took the Yelp deal that was active here, paying $7 for $10 to be redeemed at the restaraunt, and went by one day when I was craving something smokey and wholesome. The walk in area is about 20 square feet, with three tables and an ordering counter, so takeout is definitely the model here. The menu is sitting on the countertop, but it's really pretty simple - selection of meat and sides and sauce. I went with the "two meat plate" which comes with your selections, a bun (Klosterman it seemed?), and a large side for $7, then for the extra $3 I went for two small sides to try and get a sample. I ordered the beef brisket (rarely eat red meat but this sounded good today) and the turkey tips (which is their "claim to fame") small side of mac and cheese, large thing of collared greens (with pieces of turkey thrown in - which I love the idea of that, as someone who eats very lean as a goal and LOVES flavored greens), and a small side of mac and cheese, and a small side of green beans. WHat I got was a large thing of mac and cheese and the other two as small, which is fine but ultimately not very happy with that. Broken down though, I was pretty unimpressed with the amount of meat you got for the $7 plate. The Side was huge, and the mac and cheese was extremely heavy and greasy and all that wonderful mac and cheesiness you would want from comfort food, no real flavor beyond that. ANyways! The meats were pretty small servings, and while the brisket was absolutely delicious, the turkey tips tasted overcooked and really unsatisfying. I wouldn't make a return trip for those, especially if the brisket is an option instead. The collareds with turkey were awesome, and I love that they were an option to begin with - so few places have turkey on the menu, so I love seeing it. The green beans were alright, though I would have preferred they be cooked in less butter or fat. The biggest problem with the sides though, while they were very accurate to the amount mentioned on the menu (down to the oz), I think I had a different idea of how much a 1.5oz side would be, because they seemed very small for what I actually received. More of a sample than a real side to a meal. As a whole, I would give Alabama Que a second shot with a very different order, now that I know where the strengths and weaknesses on their menu are, and I'd make sure I reiterated my order to get it clear. The "hot" sauce was pretty good as well, even though I thought it was a little extra sweet, it had a nice bite. It's not a bad place, but I think there's much better options to eat along short vine (MBK, Al Medina, being my favorites).
