Nothing against the staff who work there because they are all SUPER friendly, but I feel like that's about all that is good about the place. Oh, and their sauces are pretty tasty. Those two things equal two stars. Everything else is pretty lackluster though. My brisket was super lean, super small (as opposed to long, horizontal slices of actual brisket) and there was no smoke ring. Come on, It's not barbecue if there's no smoke ring. The texture was also nothing like brisket, so I'm guessing it was something like tenderloin. My beef ribs were also very lean and they're definitely not the full size, almost a pound per rib, type that I was expecting. Holy WOW! We were at University Hospital area and in need of lunch. Nothing really sounded all that appealing then we say Alabama Que! what a awesome find! As far as bbq goes they're nothing spectacular. However as far as bbq goes in Ohio and in Cincinnati particularly they are at the top of the market. The turkey tips are great and whatever you do, get the hottest of the bbq sauces. The sides can make or break a bbq place. The cornbread here is real, dry, authentic Southern cornbread not the sweet, sugary kind normally severed in Ohio. The mac and cheese is also authentic. As for the vegetables, well I'm a meat and potatoes guy. But I've heard that they are good too. Price wise they are fair and the portions are filling. Tenderness and just the right amount of fatty-ness in each bite. The Hot BBQ sauce is just a tad more kick of spices and pepper. I'll break up my review into a few parts. 1. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich, and a beef ribs sandwich. (Both with the 'original' sauce which on it's own was fantastic.) The pulled pork was phenomenal and I certainly intend to get it again. Far more meat than the sandwich could hold, and the taste alone made it a deal. The beef rib sandwich (which did not come as an actual sandwich but were literally bone-in ribs with a bun on the side) were good but were a bit too burnt. If you're trying to decide between the two I'd obviously recommend the pulled pork. 2. Cornbread, would not recommend. Very dry, didn't have a taste out of the ordinary. 3. Sweet tea, the best sweet tea I've ever had. Some places, the sweet tea is just a generic tea bag + 1 lb of sugar. At Alabama Que you get a fresh made sweet tea with actual fruit in the tea, and the difference can easily be tasted. Also not overpoweringly sweet which maybe not everyone will like but it was a plus for me. 4. Service was friendly, but a bit slow. To be expected for a relatively popular joint with only one register. 5. Price, relatively farily priced, however the cost can get pretty high if you decide to get any of the large sized dinners. Overall 4/5, not the greatest thing in the world but I do intend to return. read more

Best for take-out, good ol' Southern BBQ! They don't advertise Turkey Tips as being famous for no reason, they are very tasty! It is also a nice option at a BBQ place to have a "healthier" choice. The Vine St. location is steps away from Taste of Belgium with lots of metered parking available, but the restaurant only has a few small tables and is not very inviting to eat your meal inside. This is probably some of the best Barbecue I've ever eaten. The hot BBQ sauce is literally like mana from the gods. I am not exaggerating. The definition of BBQ is "low and slow"! I watch too many food TV shows! The stuff that passes of as food is no where near BBQ. I challenge any frequent customer to take a photo of something bought at this restaurant that shows an actual smoke ring (as all true BBQ has)! The "fresh" juices are from concentrate and might have fresh fruit pieces added. The (awful) baked beans are Bush's Vegetarian beans. The only sides I had were the beans and the mac & cheese, which was just ok. The big guy (owner?) was not very pleasant with me, maybe he was having a bad day? While I was waiting for my food, someone came in and asked someone to move a car from the driveway which to me was odd because I see that big white truck parked in that driveway all the time. terrible front desk service!! i was told i had to wait in line behind those who were ordering to get my pickup order that had already been ready for 10 minutes (food was already starting to get cold & there were 6 people in line). a minute or so later a person walks in, goes straight up to the desk, tells her name and grabs her pickup order. more people come in for pickup and stood around not knowing how to get their food. 20 minutes later, there are 7+ people standing in the small room waiting to get our food, which was in our line of sight sitting on a shelf behind the desk. by the time i had gotten my food, it had been sitting on the shelf for 30 minutes, making all of my food cold and my turkey bits tough/ chewy after the microwave. This place is awesome. The only thing I don't like about it is on week days they only deliver until 8pm. They serve generous portions. My fiancee and I both had the chicken with mac and cheese and green beans. The rolls are awesome, the chicken was tender and sooo good,. They deliver quickly and the staff was really nice, the driver and who I talked to on the phone. mac n cheese wasn't bad, and the green beans were pretty good. Went back for the best BBQ in Cincinnati. Wow. Had BBQ Turkey tips which were out of this worl with medium BBQ sauce accompanied by yams and green beans. Just saying the sides rocked. Chatted with the owner who is terrific ex-military and firefighter who really knows his cooking. Had a long discussion regarding which part of the cow to get the best beef ribs.
