So happy Al Pastor is open and that it even beat out our opening night expectations! Some dishes are more familiar while others are unique but all were prepared and presented very well. We tried the lamb queso fundito, guacamole, tuna ceviche and baja tacos. Ceviche was the hit of the evening. I'm not a raw fish person (I know, bad foodie.) but the hubs is. We both agreed this was top quality, flavorful and balanced with great acid and sweetness from the citrus. Guacamole was also excellent. The lamb queso is definitely a plate of real cheese - none of that goopy orange business. It's naturally a little heavy and oily (as one would expect when melting a chunk of real cheese) but the lamb hidden underneath its cheesy blanket is tender and delicious - think short rib style. My arteries say no but my tastebuds say maybe just every once in a while? Needed a few more tortillas but I'm sure that wouldn't have been an issue if we had bothered to ask. The mahi tacos were very good. Definitely needed a good hit of the lime wedge that came with it. The black bean base added a nice layer of flavor and texture. For drinks, the hubs had a Negra Modelo and I did the Mexican sangria with a nice blend of tequila, Malbec and what felt like a hint of cinnamon or clove. Those aren't listed so maybe I'm making it up but whatever, it was delicious. Next time, I'm going for the pitcher and MAYBE sharing. Glad to hear there's a happy hour where I can try out the margaritas next. Attentive, friendly and very personable service from Kylen. Based on her calm, collected demeanor, I never would have known it was opening night! Overall, this is a great addition to the dining scene out here in the 'burbs. I really wanted to like this place as it had been a while. The service seemed to be confused at best although well meaning. After waiting 30 min for the app of nachos they arrived , we ok at best very little cheese and Luke warm. The tacos were tiny for 4.50 each and the quesadillas had very very little fillings. We went today the 23rd of June 2017 for lunch. First, the atmosphere is nice, staff was friendly and restaurant was quite clean. The food presentation was beautiful, however appetizers were in need of seasoning. My wife's tacos soaked through the tortilla and they fell apart. The ribs I had (6 bones= 1/2 rack) which I think is an entree size were like jerky, tough and not much seasoning. The sauce given to me for the ribs was not balanced and was off putting. The beans and rice were ok. By way of portion control, identifying food either as small plates or entree may be more accurate. In terms of price to value, seams to be a bit high compared to similar establishments in the area. The server did not refill my water until I had to ask at the end of the meal. My wife's drink, a ginger lime spritzer was very refreshing and enjoyable. On a side note, the folks next to us had what appeared to be a nice guacamole flight. Also, the wine at ten dollars a glass is to expensive for table wine compared to five to six fifty at other establishments. Though they should be ready to go on the first day of business, I think they need some more time to work the bugs out. read more

OMG this place is great, Bobi had the Chicken Quesadilla I had the Taco Mixta a Taco sampler. Really fresh and the flavor is great. Another bright spot was their Chips and fresh made salsa is amazing. One has a beautiful smokiness with a touch of heat and the other provides a freshness also with a touch of heat. AL Pastor lives up to it's name! The AL Pastor tacos were the best I ever had! The restaurant is decorated very hip and rustic; high top tables sporting wine barrels as bases with granite table tops. Excellent addition to the Eagleview/Exton area. Ambiance is modern yet cozy; they have a back seating area with long table for larger parties (10-12). Food was excellent- nachos, wings, and both ceviche appetizers were really good. Had the spicy octopus tacos for entree which had a nice kick. Server was friendly and knowledgeable. Gotta try the cauliflower tacos! My other favs are the chorizo quesadilla and ceviche. I love the atmosphere of the restaurant and their $2 taco day. Tried it for lunch and it was ok, nothing great. The Mahi Mahi tacos were 3 small tacos with fresh fish. The Pork Belly tacos were also on the small side, but tasted ok. Another server brought us 3 side sauces which helped kick up the flavors or each dish. The spicy mango sauce was the best of the 3 as the avacado sauce was a little watery. Very good service and probably a nice place in the summer, but the food was nothing special. read more

First time here was on 5/10/2019 around 8:30pm and probably won't come back. We sat at the bar and it took forever for us to get acknowledged. Once we got a drink it took forever for one of the bartenders to take our order. I should mention the bar wasn't even full. There were several open chairs. We ordered tacos that were mediocre at best. We ordered the octopus, spicy tuna, pork belly, and pulled pork. The pulled pork was the best out of all 4. If service was better I might have considered going back but, the bartenders were too busy worrying about their friends. read more

This my third visit. Stopped her for a quick bite and enjoyed it again! Service was very efficient and our waiter was very pleasant. We started out with Nachos Texanos. The small was plenty for 3 of us and could have served 4. We all had a spicy tuna and cauliflower tacos. Both varieties were delicious and tasted light and fresh. Next time I would ask for more cabbage on the cauliflower taco, but one dining companion disagreed with me. I've also heard the fajitas are excellent and I will try them soon. This is also a great place to eat with families. The whole atmosphere of the area is very inviting. There is often live music outside. read more

My husband and I, along with two dear friends, went to Al Pastor for the first time Saturday. We had made dinner reservations days ahead. When we arrived, it was very hectic at the check in desk, with three young women at the computer. One of them told us our table wasn't ready yet. We stood around the desk waiting to be seated, as several other people with reservations checked in. They were each told something different. That was our first indication that no one knew what they were doing. When we were seated, it was so noisy, we couldn't even speak to one another without almost yelling. Our waitress was good, but that's about all that was. Drinks were horrible! Margaritas, Mojito, and Margarita Martini were expensive and tasted like someone who had never worked the bar had made them. As an appetizer, we got the guacamole sampler, which was really good. I'd say we'd come back for that, but not worth enduring everything else. Two of us got the blackened shrimp tacos - no black on the tiny three shrimp on the flat soft tacos and literally no flavor either. The guys got the brisket tacos - good amount of meat, but dry and tough. We definitely will not be back and will tell our friends not to bother. read more

Great food - I had the cauliflower tacos and they were delicious. My daughter had the chopped salad which was fresh and tasty. My 9 year old had the nachos, which were enormous and plenty for all of us to share. I am so happy to have great choices so close by in Eagleview. This will be one of our regular stops. read more

Three visits and three great meals! Really enjoyed the ambience, service and of course food. Have sampled all of the taco offerings, and look forward to trying some of the other menu items during future visits. It was a very warm early February day during our visit, so the front doors and windows were open. This should be an excellent place to enjoy outdoor dining once spring and summer roll around. I loved the whole dining experience; the waiters were fun and upbeat, the whole staff was warm and welcoming.We loved our waiter Patrick!!! My group enjoyed sharing and tasting each other's food choices. It was a fun night enjoyed by all and we are all looking forward to returning. First of all the most misbehaved children must've been there all at once. It sounded like a school lunch room. Our two kids were even stunned of how loud it was. Second, the food took forever to arrive, and had a very steep price for the quality of food. $10 for a margarita, filled 3/4 of the way with ice, hardly anything to drink in there. Steep price for chips and guac, the $25 surf and turf fajitas were not worth the money either. I came here for the second time, hoping it would be better after the re-opening, nothing much has changed. Overpriced, so so food, experience not too much. $100 bill for 2 adult and 2 kids' meals!! I keep trying to love this place because the location is great and the food and margaritas are decent, however the high prices and poor service make it hard to keep coming back. Need to knock about $4-5 off most of the entree prices. Portions are small compared to other restaurants and the dishes do not even include sides. And maybe consider having a basket of complimentary chips & salsa like most other Mexican restaurants, instead of charging $4? Yesterday it took about 20 minutes to get our drinks after several prompts to the waiter. I never write reviews, but I would just love for this place to get better so that we can visit more often. $70+ for 2 people to eat dinner at a casual Mexican restaurant just seems a little crazy to me. read more

Been here twice now for dinner and had a similar experience both times. Pros: - Menu has some unique offerings that are different from the usual Mexican fare - Outdoor seating in the warm months is great Cons ... As many other reviewers have mentioned, the wait staff is undertrained and unmotivated, which makes for a negative experience. Poor management? If I'm shelling out upward of $45 for two basic entrees (nachos and tacos) and 2 Coronas, then I think decent service should be a given. We arrived for a late dinner a bit after 8, and were seated immediately - Several empty tables, and I wouldn't classify the place as being busy at all, so no excuse for poor service. A solid 15 minutes passed before our waitress graced us with her presence. She had waters, asked us if we wanted anything else to drink (we ordered Coronas) and she buzzed off before asking us if we wanted apps or were ready to order. (Which we were, since we had had so much time to review the menu.) This was pretty much the status quo for the rest of the evening. I've never gotten a more negative vibe from a waitress before. I felt like the few times she did come to the table (to take our order, to take my plate away, and to deliver the bill - that's it) were total drudgery for her, and I felt like we were inconveniencing her simply by being in the restaurant. We will probably be back ... The food is decent, and different than the usual Mexican restaurant offerings; And the outdoor seating is nice in the summer. I am a (long-time) resident of Eagleview, and am psyched about new restaurants in the community. With that in mind, my wife and I went to Al Pastor on opening night - we ordered chips/salsa, Guacamole, Ceviche (shrimp), Lamb Queso and the Carnitas Tacos. First...and bottom line, we will continue to go back and support Al Pastor, as we are thrilled to have options in our community and very appreciative of the owners/managers brining this to our neighborhood....within walking distance! So with that in mind, I am hopeful that EVERYONE will post open and balanced reviews so the owners/managers can continue to improve. What we like: · the location - nice spot...will do really well as they continue to improve! · the size of the restaurant - I like the smaller space - nice ambiance/style - casual with a cool bar - will be even better in the Summer · the staff - all were VERY nice/friendly... · the overall taste of all the food - everything we ordered (no exceptions) was good - especially the ceviche... What we felt needed real improvement: · Salsa - great taste, but was too small (especially since it is not "free" as many Mexican restaurants offer) - would be better to have a slightly larger amount · Guacamole (this is a big one for me) - it was good, tasty...but...was not table side and seemed obviously pre-prepared (a bit colder than would be if made totally fresh). Just my opinion, but a place like this (small/personal) might benefit from an option for tableside, totally fresh guacamole. · Carnitas tacos - again, these were tasty, so not bad...but...they were really small...and REALLY dry. Not sure how to fix that, but felt like it needed some kind of sauce. There was also nothing else on the plate (other than a lime)...kind of surprising · Lamb Queso - this is a tough one...it was ok, but too cheesy (I know, it's queso...)...will be curious what others think about this one...the cheese was kind of similar in texture to what would be on top of French onion soup... · Price/portion sizes - I am ok (and would actually prefer) a higher value/quality experience for sure...but...I felt that that cost could present a challenge given the relatively small portion sizes (salsa, chips, tacos...) versus the current prices...especially without meaningful improvement all around. Let me start by saying I typically only write good reviews on yelp so for me to be writing this should tell you something. I have absolutely no Mexican heritage but my husband does and after being with him and living in San Diego for 6 years I have an appreciation for good Mexican food. Needless to say our search for good, authentic Mexican food on the east coast has been a struggle and we were so excited when we heard about Al Pastor. The ONLY reason this place is getting 2 stars is for the service. I made a reservation, we were sat immediately and my server was amazing. The food however had absolutely no flavor. I am not even that adventurous when it comes to food so I don't mind plain but not when it comes to Mexican food. To top it off their side of "rice" is just white rice! On what planet does any version of Mexican rice come out plain white? The Baja fish tacos had a weird vinaigrette on them and my husbands pastor tacos were so soggy they were causing the uncooked tortilla to fall apart. I hope they can take my review and add some true Mexican flavor to their menu and we would consider coming back because of the awesome service. read more

First time visiting this new restaurant. Food tasted ok, nothing exceptional. I had pork belly tacos and they were very greasy and messy. No side dishes served and I was still hungry leaving the restaurant. Margarita was nothing to write home about. We had to ask for more chips, no salsa provided. Guacamole appetizer was very small and did not feed our party of 4. Our server messed up several times: it took over 15 minutes to get our drinks, she could not answer questions about ingredients in food for person with food allergies, (was supposed to check with chef about ingredients and forgot; had to leave and come back again to take order after she asked chef for details) and gave us the wrong check at the end of the meal. I will give this restaurant some time to work out the kinks, maybe then I will give it another chance. read more
