Cute decor that makes u feel like you're dining on the coast in Italy. Although they have outdoor seating and it's highlighted in most pics, we preferred sitting inside next to the open double door as it was more comfortable and not as much road noise. (There's a road between the outside dining and the restaurant) that frequently has cars & motorcycles going by. Bread was tasty & they brought sampler of sundried tomato w/cheese on skewer for each of us as part of their cover charge. We asked if they could make us a salad (b/c they didn't have one on the menu) and got a bowl of butter lettuce-lol. It doesn't seem veggies or salad is much of a thing in Italy b/c this happened at a couple restaurants. Tortellini appetizer was good. Tagliolini Tartufo was excellent and had generous amount of truffle shavings. Veal was pretty good. Rabbit (?- maybe it was lamb- can't recall) was not good- made with an Asian flavoring and NOT good. We were satisfied with service and would recommend to others if you're in the area. Spent about $75usd per person without alcohol.

Well, it wasn't worth building a trip around it, but we did really love Amalfi Coast so in the end it worked out. As for this restaurant, I wouldn't go for dinner. Food just isn't very good. If ur in the area already (not spending crazy $ to take a water taxi or drive a distance), stop by for a cocktail. Having a drink here is worth it if you're nearby so would definitely recommend that. The bar is the only portion that's part of the cave and truly, many places along Praiano and neighboring areas r built into the cliff so it's not all that special. Unless you're arriving via water taxi, the walk to this place is a lot so wear shoes that u love to hike in-lol. We paid an additional 15Euro/pp to have VIP seating right along the water. Not worth it. U could easily sit on the patio and have equal views and experience. One of the nice things about Europe is often that they don't rush u as much as US restaurants. Not here. They were ready to grab r order immediately and when we asked to start with a drink and appetizer then order in a bit, they told us they had to put in r complete order at 1 time. Seems odd since they were able to add drinks as needed, but whatevs. The linguini with anchovy (it was more of an essence) was amazing! Would totally recommend it and we don't even like anchovies. However, everything else was meh to bad. The lamb ribs were a pile of fat and not good. The filet was really overcooked so rough to eat. The tagliatelle with ragu had almost no meat in it. Probably spent $100usd pp without alcohol and would definitely not recommend for dinner. *Tip - if you're walking back up that huge hill after drinks/dinner, stop off at the hotel just above Il Pirate and have a cocktail or dessert there. They have an elevator that will take u up to the top street that u can use if you're either a guest or dining there. I promise u it's worth the $ for the ride.

It took a minute to find the restaurant because you have to walk down a lot of stairs to get to the bottom of the mountain (like most places along the Amalfi Coast). The food was AMAZING -- one of the best meals when we were in Italy! I had the pasta with anchovies at the recommendation of our server; I'm not an anchovies gal, but this was DELICIOUS. The ricotta and pear cheesecake was also one of the best that I've had. Would highly recommend. And of course, the views are amazing!

When it comes to pizza, I'm a snob and this place has it all. Here's the KEY--Their speciality is fried pizza. This is very unique! After making their super fresh dough, they lightly fry it. Afterward they sauce and add toppings. Then they quickly bake it in a fire oven. I promise you, it's great. This is a great pizza to share and definitely a novelty. The have a "la super" margherita-- which is a margherita pizza that is 70cm long. This is great is you have a group and it can feed about 4-6, if you get appetizers. We also had: Capri which is pizza with red sauce, basil, beefsteak tomatoes and fresh mozzarella. A traditional margherita- the best in this area. Melagianella- an eggplant dish, with basil and Parmesan. Tasty Fried Food- a mix of fresh, fried vegetables. Caponata napoletana- delicious! We got this without meat. Similar to bruschetta, just much better. Service was excellent. We enjoyed this place so much, we went twice. They do take reservations and do have outdoor and indoor seating. Please see my photos and check this place out. You won't regret it because I don't!

We understand that Italy has a more relaxed pace than the U.S., but it would've been nice if someone checked in on us occasionally for drink refills or to see if we needed anything. I asked, they said no it was not meant to be cold, and promptly brought me a new warm one. Which tasted good. But then ... the check comes and they charged full price for everything. Like they didn't even knock off the cover for the mistake they made. I didn't ask if they would discount the meal because I shouldn't have to. A high quality restaurant would have done it without putting me in the awkward position of having to ask. They would have just done it because serving a frozen dish is just kind of embarrassing ... especially on the Amalfi coast where they take so much pride in the quality of their cuisine. Anyway, I just paid the bill and walked out. Poor etiquette on their part ... you should not put your customers in the position of having to ask. Just do what's right up front.
