Now there are often 20 minutes waits while the upper floor is vacant, you have to wait to be seated, atmosphere is basic sports bar vibe, staff are bland. This local is hella disappointed! Andraes Kitchen has definately left the building/gas station. My family came to town, we wanted to take them to a chill place where we knew the food would be amazing. Well...not the case. We went in early on a Saturday, just a handful of people were there, seated immediately, we were off to a good start. Our waitstaff were extremely kind and attentive (no complaints in the customer service dept!, reason for the 2 star). We sat down to see the menu only had tacos and sandwiches. Where was the Halal Chicken???? Where were the Hot Dogs? Hello...Pork Schnitzel?. We ended up getting burgers, tacos, po boy and salad. Sadly, the burger is not the AK burger and should be renamed, Poboy was skimpy with shrimp and they were heavily breaded, so basically a bread sandwich, Salad was good, but how do you EFF up salad?, Cod tacos were eh, nice that the tortillas are still housemade, Fries were floppy (In the past if you would have asked me my favorite fry? I would answer Andraes first, so I was bummed). I guess the best way to describe how the food changed is that it no longer feels like it was made with love. It honestly felt like it was still OLIVE (blech) with a name change, with the exception that there is a really great plant shop located inside. The interior is decorated great, cool stuff to look at, breezy and open, music was at a nice volume. But I wasnt there for that. I was there for that yummy food I first tasted at a Sweets game in 2014. The ambiance was very nice and pleasant here. However, the service was pretty bad. The waiter after bringing our food didn't stop by really at all. We had to stop him to bring us more water, napkins and the check. On top of that the cheese on my tacos smelt like you wiped back to front down there and sprinkled it on the tacos. To say the least it was bad and the stench was noticed by everyone at the table. Other then the cheese though the meat was good and the spice was great. This was recommended by a tasting room and I will say we were highly disappointed. We came on Monday and won't be back. The service was great. The host was friendly, the server was knowledgeable and the rest of people look like they were working hard. They all looked young and we were impressed. The food however, was not worth the trip and is why we won't be back. The tacos are overpriced with hard tortillas and greasy fillings. The salad had cold, fatty brisket on it and was overly dressed. In town for some wine tasting, could find the food truck I was looking for, in the mood for some street tacos. Wife found this place, had some positive comments on their shrimp tacos, my fav, so gave em a try. A VERY different shrimp taco. The bread and deep fry the shrimp and it comes in a ( wry tasty) corn tortilla with shredded carrots, cilantro and a moderately spicy sauce. Was very good. Had the Quirk Mercado Lager (a corn beer). Was also very good. Tacos were pretty pricey at $5.50 ea. but worth it for the experience. Excellent service, clean restrooms. Will go again to try all the other taco offerings. read more

I don't understand. The menu is drastically changed. It was obvious as soon as we walked into the place. It smelled more like fish sauce than the familiar low-n-slow barbecue place we knew it to be. There is a review 08/19/23 that says best-brisket-ever. But we were there 08/18/23 looking for that brisket. It's not there. The nachos were weirdly packed with pickled jalepenos, pickled onions, black beans, and cheddar, no signs of meat or southwestern flavors. The wings were pungently reminiscent of tabasco, more vinegar, and sugar. The tacos were ok, but topped with sweet, pickled veggies. I don't understand. The menu is drastically changed. One star because zero was not an option . The wait staff and hostess were dreadful . Drove from out of town with two other couples. On a Thursday at 4 pm the place was largely empty they acted so off put at our party of 6. Before being seated the hostess says to us ( while we are standing in the foyer) there will be a 20% Gratuity added to our bill and it all must be in one check . Then this snotty little manger came out and said we could only have seperate checks if we sit at different tables lol . We left, there are sooo many amazing and accommodating places to eat in Walla Walla . I hope the onset is aware they are turning away business so they can stand around and do nothing . read more

This really cool place was recommended by every local we ran into in the tasting rooms. We delayed because it was just tacos but dang we wish we had gone earlier in our trip! They have great outdoor seating but we choose some A/C inside. Seating is two levels with wrought iron railings. It's really cute. Bar is in the center and it has many options. Especially tequila! So back the tacos. They are amazing. On our table we tried the shrimp, the fish, the brisket and our very favorite the short rib! All the meat is made in house and they have a sauce that is just yummy. Pickled onion and cilantro on top! So good! We added a quesadilla to the table and we were really glad we did! So good and very filling. We will definitely be returning! Would love to see a salsa or house made hot sauce option but be undeterred it's a great place! read more

Upfront, we didn't eat anything. The total lack of service drove us out the door. Stopped in hoping for a cocktail to top off our excellent dinner experience down the street at Hattaway's. Mercado was recommended but after being seated by the friendly hostess, we did just that. We sat. Then waited. After a few minutes, two employees began cleaning the other end of our table. Nobody came to offer us anything or take our order. We were ignored, so we left. It was around 8:10PM on a Thursday evening. All we wanted were cocktails. I noticed a blackboard sign saying Last Seating at 8:15. I can only assume they didn't want us there and wanted to close early. I must say it turned out great because the smoke was overwhelming inside the restaurant and we strolled over to Public House 124 and got just what we were looking for including a welcoming and friendly experience. I'm not sure how this place doesn't have more stars?! My family ate here this morning and WOW--the food was all-around delicious! Excellent service and the entire place was very clean (yes, even the restrooms!). Other people complain about the cost but it really isn't expensive considering the quality of food you receive; being from Seattle-area, the price of the meals are very reasonably priced. No, you don't get chips and salsa for free but this restaurant isn't your typical Mexican restaurant, which is what makes it so special. Phenomenal food. It was so good, we went twice. We had their Thursday night special which was a slow roasted pork taco. the meat was so tender and flavorful- and I'm not really a meat lover. The portion was very generous. Went back Sunday morning for a Bloody Mary and brisket hash. Again- knocked it out of the park. The vinegar add to the hash gives it such a unique flavor. We did not so they said we would have to wait an hour. We agreed that time was fine, it was a Saturday, so we would come back. Just put us down. Then the hostess was like well our biggest table is a bar height table with bar stools so there is no back support, knowing full well that we had a handicap in our group. Very disappointed with the service. The server took our order and never returned until she showed up with the bill. Someone else served the food. No one ever asked for drink refills or how the food was, if we needed anything, or if we wanted dessert. The real kicker was when the sever did return with the bill, their ipad was programmed to the tip page, hence asking for a tip before telling me what the total bill was! First time ever a server wanted to know her tip before showing me the bill. The restaurant was not busy. Don't know why the serviced was so bad. The whole dining experience was screwed up!! Honestly, I was hoping their service would get better after moving into a bigger space, but it turns out it has stayed in a nice steady decline. I'm a local, and used to LOVE Andrae's Kitchen (now AK's Mercado) but there have been too many chances given with poor service to keep going back. There had already been a couple instances at their old location with rude and careless staff that I had stopped even trying. So I tried again now that they're established at their new location and it bombed again. Their "convenient" text your order in deal is a joke. They will ignore you. I even tried calling to confirm and they didn't answer. Twice. If they're busy. I get that. I truly do. But maybe a "hey we're swamped I'll be with you as soon as I can" kind of thing would go a long way. Straight up being ignored for 15 minutes and not answering the phone, waste of time. I feel so bad that their service is still on a decline because I love their Cubans and their Poutine and I loved their atmosphere. But they've lost another local. read more
