Akarui is located off of Capitol and 11th in the Capitol District. Seating was relatively easy but it took a while before a server came by. Once our food order was taken, service became better. I played it safe by ordering the Bento A with teriyaki chicken, seaweed salad, gyoza, California roll, and a scoop of rice. It wasn't crowded but the service was marginal. Solid. Grabbed a quick bite to eat before rolling home. Ordered a bowl of Spicy Ramen and some chicken wings. They do serve Poke bowl and things looked fresh too. Tasty snack before working down the block. It's all street parking around Akarui (booo) and I wish I had the time and energy to enjoy a hot bowl of ramen, though the photos of ramen didn't look appealing at all. Maybe some sake would have changed my mind, but alas I settled for Takoyaki and Taro Milk Tea. Boba was delicious. Takoyaki was messy, and the flavor was okay. Customer service was decent. Yum yum sauce this is good. Awesome ramen spot I discovered in the capital district. I got the wings to start crispy and delicious. Had a couple tasty beers then I dove into the seafood ramen. We tried this restaurant when we were back in Omaha during one of the cold days. It was actually right before going to the Zoolights. A great way to warm up is with a good dish of ramen at Akarui. The food was amazing. I always order the Tonkotsu ramen. The pork belly was very tender and marinated with an amazing sauce. Service was very polite and helpful. Nice and quick place to grab Japanese inspired bites. We tried 2 of the different ramen dishes and 3 poke bowls. We also tried the pork buns, edamame and takoyaki. Overall, the selection is good and varied for choices in appetizers. There are enough ramen choices + poke bowl toppings to keep things interesting. In terms of authenticity, I think they are doing the best they can given our location in the midwest. I have certainly had better cuts of fish and better toppings in Hawaii and on the coast, but I appreciate their effort to bring more diverse food into the Omaha metro. It wont be the poke bowl you had in LA or Honolulu, but if you come with the expectations that this is Omaha Nebraska, you'll be just fine. I went to this place for their poke bowls and I must say I was superrrr happy with them! The portion size was great, and I could tell the fish was fresh. I got shrimp and raw salmon. I wish you could choose more than 3 toppings before they start charging more but they give a lot of food so I'm not really bothered by it. I also tried their boba and it was great! They are filled with all the things you want in a poke bowl with lots of additions you can add. Every time I visit a new city one of the first things I look for on Yelp is a boba cafe. Akarui ended up being just a four minute walk from my hotel so I ended up making this my first food-stop. I was absolutely blown away by the beauty and tranquility of the cafe and the food. I ordered a Thai tea with boba and a plate of gyoza and I have to say it was hands down the very best Thai tea and gyoza I've ever had before. I didn't go in with high expectations but I was so impressed that I went back again the next day with friends so that they could experience how great of a place it is. We were pleasantly surprised with the freshness of our poke bowl ingredients considering we are in the Midwest. We've had poke in Omaha from another place before, and the raw tuna had a weird texture, probably from being frozen too long. The tuna at Akarui had a better texture, closer to fresh. I've ate here twice now. Once for take out the other for dine in. Service is quick. Poke bowls are pretty good though pricey as you'd expect of most poke places. My dine in poke bowl was honestly smaller than when I ordered take out though so that was a bit disappointing but could of just been this one time. My husband ordered the Kaarage and gyoza. The Kaarage was crispy and delicious! I also tried the Akarui fruit tea. Pretty good but if you dont like those floral tasting teas I would avoid this one. read more

The sauce on the shrimp was so tasty that I also ate the whole bed of lettuce it was served upon. The lettuce was fresh and crisp. My husband had the Chirashi. He said the items were good and fresh. 4 stars for the spicy chicken ramen. I had never had ramen with chicken like that before. Most use chasu or ground chicken, but this chicken was coated in flour and pan fried, very tasty and a nice texture. The broth was spicy though they have volcano spice on the table if you need more. Located right next to the Capitol District, right when I walked in I could tell that it was set up to be COVID-friendly: all staff wearing masks, polyglass shields around the food, and adequate space between tables. They have a variety of ramen, appetizer, and poké options. Apps are around $5-$10 each, and menu options range from $8-$15. Although they have a variety of menu options, I opted for a build-your-own poké. I also got an order of gyoza and crab rangoons (guilty pleasure). They also have milk tea/boba, and a bar. Everything was absolutely delicious! I loved the flexibility of the poké menu: from the type of rice, protein, and toppings. Service was extremely fast, and the staff were very friendly. This is the best Japanese Cuisine, nay Cuisine in general, I've had since the soup at Pho LV. It was flavorful, rich and spice-filled. I can tell whoever the chef is loves their craft like a mother to a child. The California Roll in my bento box made me like avocado for the first time since I entered this mortal plane. Great new ramen spot! We stopped by after arriving at the airport late from a flight delay and were craving some ramen. Ordered the spicy miso, gyoza, and traditional boba milk tea. Due to being California natives, our standards are a bit high. The spicy miso would've blown us out of the water if it had more miso flavor. It was somewhat lacking in that category. But otherwise, the spiciness was perfect and the other flavors were great. The gyoza was spot on and soft. The boba was soft and chewy. We would definitely come back next time we're in downtown!
