We called knowing we needed a new thermostat, quick install, new units in the house. Thermostat actual cost $84. Installation cost $414, plus dispatch fee of $125. All in $575 for a thermostat replacement. Basically highway robbery, very unfortunate wish there was honest people still in this world. I started off by calling AK Aire to change my thermostat. That was 23 years ago. Since then I have called them to convert my shower, add new fire alarms etc. The best was my air conditioner that went out. They saved me thousands of dollars by calling all over the country for a motor. They said to give them 1 week to find this part or we would need a new A/C. They came through with their promise & found a motor compatible to my unit. I have been with them now going on 26 years. Everyone is helpful & professional. Kelly, Allen & Glenn cannot be beat for their knowledge of what is needed. The girls that answer the phone are pleasant & helpful. Even letting me know when the technicians are on their way. Beside incredible mechanical skills, the sensitivity to my drama over our generator malfunction - leaving me in an over the top panic about potential flooding without a sump pump and 3 ref/freezers melting - is so very appreciated. I was overwhelmed and despite it being a holiday weekend, and a Friday no less, Alan came to my rescue late in the evening (after working all day at another job quite far from our house) and temporarily restored power and ordered the replacement part. Alan always takes everything calmly in his stride (unlike me), has confidence in his ability to fix what is broken - even when it not just a plumbing or electrical issue - but my anxiety too!!! they are horrible in keeping their assigned times. i had an 11:00 appt. & here it is 4:00 & still nobody from ak aire is here to do the job?? i called & they told me he was running late & would be there in 1/2 an hour ( that was 3 hours ago) and still no repair guy??? this is the second time this company screwed me - waiting around all day for the repair man than never came! do you self a favor & call another company unless you enjoy hanging around all day for these guys. i give them 2 stars at most read more

AK Aire deserves more than five stars. They installed a 20 kw Generac whole house generator in one day. They came with a full crew of electricians, plumbers, and support staff. They were unbelievable. I would recommend AK Aire to anyone who is in the market for a generator. They are true professionals who go above and beyond to please their customers. Whenever I call them, they were responsive to any questions I had. They are neat, and removed any debris once the job was done. AK recommended by a friend, all smiles and yes's. The job took longer than expected and no complaints or extra fees. However, AK left a pressure gauge on our gas pipe to pass the mechanical inspection. All good. Time to remove it. Fireplace installed wks later, still there. Multiple phone calls to remove the pressure gauge. Still there. Failed final inspection because of the pressure gauge. More phone calls, still there. Warning to All. Rewrite your contract that final payment is made after passing the final inspection on anything they handle: ie: Gas, or Electric, or Plumbing. read more

Avoid - unresponsive and unprofessional. A relatively simple outdoor gas line job to close our outdoor gas line ended up leaving an open-ended pipe on one end because capping wasn't done on both ends of the severed line. This exposure led to water and debris accumulation, requiring a full line replacement. We gave AK Aire on multiple chances to talk to us about the job and help make repairs, and we weren't even asking for anything for free. All we got was "yes, we'll get back to you". We gave them MONTHS to get back and no response after numerous attempts. This is unprofessional and unresponsible behavior. The front-line person is friendly and courteous, but it hides the fact that the company doesn't want to own up when things don't go right. The new contractor was shocked at AK Aire's workmanship, and we ended up having a new line installed. read more

Ak Aire has been a pleasure to work with. Kelley was extremely helpful and took the time to provide us with different options when giving us an initial quote. She was very organized and presented the options clearly. Her team showed up on schedule and was extremely patient while taking the time to thoroughly explain the work that took place as well as what was going on throughout the entire process. Their company motto should be "if I ignore my customers maybe the problem will go away". I would strongly recommend that you don't hire this company. I had them install an AC on my second floor. 3 days after the installation the AC wouldn't start. They did come out on a weekend and fix it. Also, they put most of the registers on upside down. Wasn't happy with the AC from day one. It wasn't cooling down the upstairs. I asked them to change out the registers to ones that can point down. They receptionist said (because the owners who are a husband & wife) "the owners don't return customer calls" and that they don't make resisters that point downward. That was about the 4th lie and that's when I threw in the towel. Note: Kelly, one of the owners happens to be very good with stretching the truth behind a keyboard. So when she responds take that into consideration. Do yourself a favor and pay an extra few hundred dollars and hire one of their competitors. read more

Best HVAC Service in Central NJ - Plain and Simple. Period. I know Alan since 2008. If not for him, I would not have bought our home. During pre-inspection we had issues with Realtor, I hired Alan who came to run a thorough diagnostics on the yet-to-be bought property's HVAC because the Realtor and the seller were less than forthcoming. Alan's report was thorough and irrefutable. Because of him, we ended up getting several thousand dollars in credit. Shortly thereafter, we hired his services to replace with a brand new Carrier system which has been running great for the past six years. He comes to handle maintenance work etc. Alan is the GOLD standard of what a true professional should ever aim to be - straightforward, no nonsense, extremely reasonable in behavior and rates, but not pushy at all. He is honest and committed. I wish most people I deal with out there are as professional as Alan is. He is a highly knowledgeable person that knows everything out there about HVAC.
