2nd bite, 1st Waffle Dog...
Joey M.

"I don't wanna get a movie hot dog! [in tears] I want a Papaya King hot dog! - Cosmo Kramer, Seinfeld da Scene: visiting for a few weeks and headed to Kakaako Farmers for breakfast and gifts to bring home. Tucked into the 1st corner when you cross to the 2nd side is the Aiwi Waffle truck... as I scan the menu, I see Waffle Dog and my mind spins into nostalgia. I immediately order one up and while waiting thoughts of KC Drive Inn Kapalulu memories flood back. Countless nights spent cruising Waikiki ending with a Waffle Dog and Ono Ono Shake in the parking lot with friends. Anticipation... da Grub: Harmony is my best description. Crisp yet tender waffle hugs the all beef frank closely, all enveloping, almost like it was a dipped corn dog. Yet it had all the score marks and texture of a waffle! The frank itself is juicy, plump perfection, semi-med grind showed little glistening pockets... savory perfection! The Honey Mustard took it to another level, bringing some sweetness and tang at the same time. da Service: They made me feel like a calabash cousin, and while chatting found a California connection as they spent some time living in the East Bay! I actually rushed away to catchup with my family and took my 1st bite walking away... my knees almost buckled it was so good! After we circled the market I made my daughter go back with me to grab another one and take some pics... they are SO NICE! Bay Area peeps show some love, you must check out this Aiwi Waffle Dog on your next visit to Oahu! Found them at Kakaako Farmers, and am already planning a visit to their storefront in Waikiki!!

Amazing! Everything is gluten free and so delicious! My 7 year old is a waffle lover and said they are better than any gluten waffle! Wonderful service! Will come back to this gem

I love mochi waffle anything and this has got to be hands down the BEST waffle place I've been to on island. I got their banana mac nut waffle, their banana lumpia waffle and their house cold brew. Delicious! Prices may seem steep, but trust me you can taste the quality in the Ingredients here. I feel like I'm not even that big of a foodie to be able to tell quality of honey, but when I say this honey is different!! It totally is. I don't know how to describe it other than it tastes expensive. The workers are so nice and friendly here , they helped give me recommendations on what's good and I love that they have outdoor seating for you to enjoy everything. Highly recommend!

Food Truck "Waffles & Waffle dogs"

Saw the is truck during the Saturday Kaka'ako market and immediately thought in my head "Waffle Dog". I remember as a kid in the early 90's visiting my Uncle on the island, he introduced a place (KC's) known for their waffle dogs. Seeing this on Aiwi menu instantly got me in nostalgic mode and had to try it. It was delicious!

Super friendly service. Located on the second floor of this building. Outdoor seating with a nice view. The waffle dog was very tasty, especially with their house honey mustard sauce. The cold brew was tasty too- I should've stirred it up a lot more before because of the maple syrup sits on the bottom. The whipped cream was very tasty

We were lucky enough to stumble in here on the day of their soft opening. They are on the second floor of the Ohana Hale building, with a lovely space overlooking the park. Mr. M tried the waffle dog and the banana wafflelumpia. Both were really good. The owners are great. I hope today is the first day of a wildly successful venture!

Sooooo good! Yes it can be pricey BUT it's a huge portion, very well made and fresh ingredients and!! It's gluten free!! Worth it.

Absolutely phenomenal GF waffles. I love the consistency and texture--the mochi makes it a little chewy. The owner came up with an amazing recipe. Only wish the coconut cream was dairy free so I could've tried it! Also, the girl working, Eva, was super sweet and friendly.

Was intrigued by the idea of Gluten Free and organic waffles. I normally don't like Gluten free things because you can taste the difference - NOT these though! Absolutely delicious. We got the Berry Medley and loved it. It came with Maple Syup on the side, but didn't need it, waffle was tasty and chewy without it.

Happened upon this truck tucked in the corner at Kakaako Farmer's Market on Saturday and couldn't just walk past Banana Lumpia meets Mochi Waffle, y'all W H A T? One order comes with 2 for $14 Brother taking orders recommended adding whip cream, coconut custard, and honey. Y E S, pleaseandthankyou ($1 each) It takes a bit of time but Aiwi (pronounced Ivy) is worth the wait!

Had the mixed berry waffles with coconut cream on the side. So perfectly golden and crisp on the outside.

Very Berry Mochi Base Waffle with Ube Custard (gluten free!)
Han N.

I came shortly after they opened, and they were very busy, but so friendly and gracious. I love that they have a mochi base option since I'm gluten free and everything is made with so much care. I got the Very Berry with Ube Custard and it was so good! I didn't even need the maple syrup. I also appreciated that it wasn't overly sweet. I need to go back to try the other flavors!

Taste was just ok, same as the one at supermarket. * Mango Lilikoi smoothie - refreshing but a bit over sweetened. * Mango Coconut Smoothie - have mango flavor and taste pretty good * Avocado Smoothie- my friend throw away after couple sips, she said she can only taste fake avocado powder flavor. Knowing me, I was most interested in the dessert, but we ended up dining here on a whim. We had really great service when we dined in. I ordered the oxtail soup because I hadn't had it before, which fulfills my rule of trying new foods when I can. It was tasty, with a unique spice blend reminiscent of other beef soups I've had in the past. However, I was particularly wowed however by the complementary bread and raspberry jam. Call me simple, but the bread was actually the star of the show for me, perfectly soft and buttery. The location in Waikiki is perhaps a clear reminder that it is a tourism city. The atmosphere is that of fine dining. Not a bad place to grab a meal when on vacation in Honolulu.

Bad customer service. When you get there in a busy/rush hour, they expect you to grab a ticket but they barely use that thing. I waited with my family while the ladies behind the counter talk amongst themselves to finally notice us. Server Emily had a really bad attitude. She didn't even welcome us or greeted us when we walked in. Seems like they just hire anyone.. Rush hour is around 6pm-7pm. Not that busy. You usually see the same people everyday. Food at the restaurant... the prime rib isn't even a prime rib. New York and shrimp is too expensive for a very thin not deveined shrimps. I like my steak med rare but the last time I ordered it, they cooked it very medium well & so I got it taken back to the cook to get another one but a manager named Geraldine stepped in and said they'd have to charge me twice if I wanted another one. I'm a local and this was really unfortunate. Will never come back here due to the lack of customer service.

We ended up getting their kalbi loco moco and a short stack of buttermilk pancakes to share. The kalbi loco moco definitely hit the spot. The pancakes were fluffy and was almost the size of the plate it was served on. Price for the pancakes were reasonable at $10.95. At $17.95, the kalbi loco moco was a little bit expensive for the amount of beef that came with the plate. Service was friendly and fast. The seating area reminds me of an old school diner. Waffles for Lunch in Hawaii Kai, Honolulu, Hawaii…read more.. My friends and I tried to dine at La Liégeoise a couple of weeks ago, and they were closed. There was no notice on Instagram, and we had driven all the way out to Koko Marina (during normal business hours) for nothing. A couple of weeks later, I called several times to make sure that they'd be open. No answer. I messaged the business on Instagram, and they answered that they were adjusting their hours. They promised to be open when we planned to visit. We parked easily and for free by Zippy's. We were greeted cheerfully and noticed the brightly decorated shop... very festive and cute! There was a comfy sofa corner, children's corner, and Instagramable wall murals. The back patio overlooks the marina! We each ordered the Combo: one savory waffle sandwich, a sweet waffle, and a drink for $20. I got the Frenchie sandwich with pickles, smoked ham, garlic & herbs aioli, and emmental cheese. It was filling! I liked the plain, Authentic waffle. It had a nice crisp and some caramelization on the outside. We tried to pronounce the name of the business, and each received a 10% off coupon for our next visit! Thank you!

The salad on the side also had a delicious dressing that tasted almost like a smoky meat sauce, but with a slight tanginess to it. Yum!!! We also ordered a burrito, and wow...their burritos are HUGE! They're packed and loaded with everything you could want inside. We got steak with roasted potatoes and some other veggies. The café itself has such a relaxing atmosphere.
