My brother had cooked on the grill this summer and it took forever to cook the chicken. I call the hardware store and worked with Frank, who was awesome and understood my request for the grill to be assembled and delivered. Frank delivered the grill to my mother as part of an early Xmas gift and she was very excited to finally have a new grill. I would highly recommend Springhill Hardware over the big box hardware stores. It was a great feeling to support a local resident and business that has been there since I was growing up in Hamden in the 70s.

There was no floor model to inspect, and she trusted the store's description and history. When the grill arrived, it had only stainless trim, no wheels, and was clearly not the heavy-duty model she expected. She declined delivery politely and even offered to pay the price difference or use gift cards to upgrade to the better model. They refused. Instead of working with her, they issued a refund--and then left her a voicemail telling her never to shop there again. Their own voicemail admitted it was a "snafu" and they "don't normally sell natural gas grills," but punished her for not accepting a downgrade. This wasn't about being difficult. It was about being fair. After over 7 years of loyalty, this was their response. If this is how they treat long-time customers, I encourage others to think twice before shopping here.
