But I will vouch that this was such a pleasant experience. The owner is an older woman in a shop full of lamps, shades, and yes some dust, with no heat. But she is just like my grandmother, shuffling around doing what she loves, by the way it looks, for decades. She had a no-B.S attitude and knew her talent which may be confused for attitude but it's not. She was more than eager to help fix the fraying wire and had it done while we waited. 10 minutes tops for more than a bargain and even gave a discount because she didn't have a plug in matching color. I would highly recommend the Lamp Shoppe for repairs.

Even though there's a newer chain hardware store on the other side of town, this is my preferred place to buy the odd nails, screws, plumbing parts, electrical supplies, and other things for home repair. They also have lumber, propane, seed, feed and fertilizer, live chicks(in season), and a nice selection of antiques. All that's missing is the pickle barrel. The staff is knowledgeable, and if you can't find what you're looking for, they either know where it's hidden on the shelves, or it isn't made anymore. Part of the space has been taken over by Woodbury Saw and Mower, which makes it even easier to do all your lawn care shopping in one stop. This is definitely a place to check out if you're in town.

Let me sing the praises of Sarah and Wholesale Cabinets!…read more I first came across this place in 2010, when I needed to re-do the ugly master bath. Sarah came back with a nicer design and lower price (by a good 20%) than the two other places I checked out, and from then on I was hooked. A few years later, we re-did the kitchen, and we went straight back to Sarah. She worked her butt off, drawing and re-drawing and re-re-drawing until it was just right. She listened to what we had to say -- and I mean, REALLY listened -- and used her experience and wonderful eye for design to come up with a kitchen that really worked. Her ideas were always spot-on, things that I never would have thought of on my own, but that once the kitchen was done, I couldn't imagine not having. Vertical tray dividers above the wall oven for my sheet pans? Frickin' brilliant! Oh, and of course the price was fantastic. I took her design to another place for a sanity check, and they came back thousands higher -- and that's without investing all that time in the design process! And then we moved, relocation for work, and recently bought an antique house here in Vermont. I knew even before the closing that I'd have Sarah do my kitchen again, and let me tell you, she has come through again, even better than last time, if such a thing is possible. And when my builder looked at her final designs, he said that if he had made the same thing in his workshop, it would have cost at least 30% more. Sarah, you are the best. THE BEST!
