I've recommended Air Group in the past, but based on my recent experience, I have to significantly lower my opinion. They charged me well over $500 to do preventive maintenance on two air conditioning systems. This is a 250% increase over what they charged just three years ago! That's pretty outrageous. I called their office, thinking it was an error. They told me, essentially, nope, those are our rates. I then wrote a letter to the company president, but have not received a response. read more

AirGroup's biggest people is there customer service. They make concessions for the customer. I recently called in for an emergency because we had no heat and I have a baby in the house. Despite having my heating system serviced, with a couple months the system was not working. Would you know that Airgroup refused to do anything to assist. I was told that the service was done outside the 30 day window and that we signed a contract that requires us to pay for someone to come out on the weekend. I told them I'm not willing to pay because I believe the issue stem from the service not being done efficiently. They couldn't care less. Worse company EVER. read more

Emergency situation quickly resolved by Air Group. We have used Air group for decades for maintaining our boiler and air conditioner. They have always given us great service in that area. Last night the emergency release valve started to pour water out. We made a call into air group. Within 30 minutes, Ivan the tech was at our doorstep. Ivan immediately identified the issue (a fault of our own), fixed it and then spent the time to tell us the critical safety parts, max pressure levels, max temp levels, what valve could have be used to turn off the incoming water (not really visible but now identified with a card by Ivan). Ivan remained to make sure that everything was operating ok while showing us also how the air is released from the system (new to me since I use to bleed the radiators in the past). Even though this was out of hours overtime, the cost still remained reasonable. Ivan - a great tech! read more

Alex Dicrosta came to my house to do the spring AC check. What was supposed to be a simple check up turned into an all day event as we discovered problems with my system. But I couldn't have been more impressed with Alex. He ran through every possible solution until he fixed the issue. I am sorry to see what Kristen S has gone through. I had no problem with Air Group ever, and after they have installed my Generac whole house generator in September, I have nothing but praise. In terms of the tune up, I always call to make the appointment. I need a Saturday appointment due to work, and I have never had any problems. I never had any sales person or technician pushing me to buy service plans. Maybe I am lucky, but until something really happened, I will highly recommend Air Group. read more

I've had some great experiences with techs and a few bad ones since they took over Ketzenberg and Org. The last tune-up on my gas furnace left much to be desired. The tech seemed more interested in selling me a new furnace, which is running fine. He changed the filter and failed to properly seat the door to the AC-1 unit. He identified a problem with the diffuser fan that needed to be replaced. He failed to cover the inspection hole at the flue coming out of the furnace, a possible CO leak. Worst of all, after he left I noticed corrosion and significant rust holes in the flue connection to chimney, another possible dangerous CO condition!. Finally, my humidifier which is a simple GeneralAire 1040 legacy had some water overrun in the drip pan. I never had that problem until Air Group serviced it. The tech just said to run it at my "risk". I figured it out on my own, as I had to adjust the flow rate of water into the humidifier. Finally, I knew the diffuser motor bearing was making noise and had to be replaced. The tech added 3 other items for replacement. I had a friend who was knowledgeable in my system help me with the necessary repairs to get my system back up. I replaced the corroded flue pipe myself, not a rocket science project. To sum it up they have a few bad techs....just hope you don't get one. I will not be renewing my service contract and will be looking for someone else to take care of my AC and Gas Furnace! read more

My Generac generator quit during the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy after only 4 days. All power was out, with an estimate of restoration by JCP&L of "10 more days" after 6 days outage already! I called a number of authorized service agents and couldn't schedule a visit in less than 10 days from the day I called them. Air Group was at my home in less than 4 hours, and within one hour had completely fixed the pro9blem. I then asked for my 100 hour tune-up, and they completed that also, with all necessary adjustments, oil and spark plug changes. My highest compliments to the Service technician - Chris K. - and the professionalism of the customer service rep - Karen. Air Group did an absolutely fantastic job for me yesterday. A/C system was replaced. The crew was professional and respectful and took great care to make sure that everything was done in a neat and clean manner. Hard wood and carpeted floors were protected with NEW tarps and rubber mats. Cleanup was taken care of and there was little to nothing to do once the guys left. Looked they had never been here. The system installation and set up in the attic was well engineered solid!! I actually ended up with more room in the attic than there was previously. You don;t need to call for quote. It is $25 for each vent. $50 for dryer vent on top of your house work. It is more experience the these 1 star place and much less cost then others. At the day, a crew showed up on time exactly at 9am. They first lay out the floor protection, then start count. A vacuums machine was brought to 2nd flood to hook with attic vent. The gentleman also checked all the vent in the attic and help me taped the loos/broken connection, free. After cleaning the 2nd floor, they went to curl crawl space to clean the 1st floor. In the end, they use detergent to spray and wipe all the vent cover. They also vacuumed and cleaned all the filters in house. I would use air group in a few years for my next cleaning. read more

These guys are like the Cartier of plumbing , HVAC etc.. crazy expensive but they do great Work and available at odd hours.

I have used Air Group two times out of Whippany NJ. Once for expansion tank and valve replacement on my Furnace and one for a Furnace pump. They charged a $160 diagnostic fee for both even though I knew I needed a new pump for the second visit. They charged around $1300 and $1250 for both these repairs respectively in addition to the diagnostic fee. The technicians were nice and did a good job. The "new" pump I got was all scraped up and I never saw it come out of a box so I suspect this pump was not brand new. The materials are only a small portion of this so this is mostly labor. I'm giving two stars because the prices are excessive. Each of these jobs took less than 2 hours. Most lawyers don't charge $600/hr. I would not feel comfortable recommending this company based on the price. read more

We decided to get new appliances. I had a local company deliver stating that they had all these COVID -19 guidelines and assured me they were following them. Needless to say they showed up unmasked so unprofessional. I was so reluctant to have anyone else in my house but because of our new stove we needed a plumber to change the gas valve. Long story short I called AIR GROUP. A little nervous after my first experience to have any one else in my house. BUT I can't tell you how pleased I was with them. They were so unbelievably professional. Showed up fully masked and gloved. He even covered his shoes! The first time in months I really felt safe having anyone in my house. We have now had numerous positive experiences with air group so I feel compelled to write a review. We had a bad experience with another company working on our hvac - it was a situation where we had an odd problem that was difficult to figure out. We went through a month of back and forth with the other company and called air group to give us a quote, they not only figured out our issue, stayed for 2 days to make sure it was completed correctly, and they came in cheaper than the other smaller company. Every employee who worked with us was polite and professional. We have also used them for electrical work and plumbing in our building and we have had positive experiences each time. They often come in under their estimate and do high quality work. An excellent and trustworthy company! read more

We have a two zone home and needed the air conditioners replaced in our 40 year old home. In the end, we decided to replace the furnaces too and got a number of estimates. Yes, they varied but not by ALL that much. In the end, it was the customer reviews about their service that made the difference and they were installed by Air Group almost one year ago. Came home last night to a beeping and followed it to the furnaces where the flood alarm was beeping. Floor looked dry but I called them at 10:45 PM and left a message that I wanted it checked and that we would be leaving the house about 10 AM. Got a 7 AM call and the tech got here at 8 AM. Incredibly personable and knowledgeable. Solved the problem (no real problem!) but stuck around to check out the entire system. This was a total validation of our decision to go wtih Air Group. Air Group wanted $189 bucks to to come over and and diagnose the problem. The highly touted aluminum heat exchanger leaked after only 8 years. They over sized it Truly incompetent engineering The manufacture revealed this The unit has a 15 year replacement warranty. So I need someone to come out and and provide a quote to install the exchanger that needs replacing. $2500! Some warranty DO NOT USE THIS CONTRACTOR unless you are not spending your own money. read more

Air Group charged me $169 for a service call,said I needed new ac system. Had another sales manager come out to determine exactly what was needed. He measured rooms ceiling height and thoroughly checked system. Then sent me an estimate for $10,000.00. Had Jersey Refrigeration come out and they changed capacitor for $225. For many years I've used Air Group as my provider for routine HVAC and emergencies as well. They handle electrical and plumbing too. Last year a neighbor called me at work and told me water was leaking from my house. I left work and call Air Group ( my previous 2 plumbers couldn't help me) and they were at my house before I was. In all my encounters with Air Group in the past, they have always new prompt and polite. I was never overcharged and all repairs were done correctly. Vincent Yee was our technician and worked at our home for 10 hours, performing maintenance on our AC system that had not been serviced in 5 years. He was professional, knowledgeable, personable and very hard working. He instructed us on many things regarding the systems in the home and its 7 furnaces, 4 ERVs, 2 dehumidifiers and 7 AC condensers. There is more work to be done in the fall (maintenance with the heating systems) and we look forward to Mr. Yee's return! We feel fortunate to have found Air Group and met Vincent Yee and know that our home's HVAC systems now have excellent care. read more

Mostly have used Air Group for Plumbing and Electrical services, although have an HVAC contract as well. A little pricey but all but one of the services I have had were worth every penny. I live in a condo complex that as it turns out has old water valves and the main water shutoff is in an unexpected place in the kitchen (almost completely hidden by unthinking renovation pre my ownership) and being old and brittle none of the valves can be completely shutdown. Unfortunately, the only other way to turn off water completely to my unit is to shutoff the water to the whole complex of over 400 homes, which is not happening short of a major repair. All the valves are sottered on so it would take this massive shutdown to change out the valves). We learned all of this during my first service call which involved both plumbing issues and electrical work. During the changeout of a broken kitchen faucet, we had a minor flood due to the water valves not shutting off completely and the hot water pipe valve getting stuck in open position. The water went through the floor and overhead lights in the basement. Luckily both Mike(risking burns to carefully nudging the valve shut as can be) the plumber and John the electrician working together were able to clean and dry everything before any damage took place. They took photos to show me that the ceiling was dry and all my plumbing and electrical needs were completed - including the new kitchen faucet. That was two years ago. Since then I've had other plumbing and electrical work, and we are now prepared regarding the problematic water shutoffs. Yesterday Kevin Stramiello was here hooking up my washing machine (after having new flooring installed on the first floor of my unit including the laundry room). My husband had dealt with unhooking the washer and experienced the problem of consistent dripping from the valves not shutting off completely- luckily the floor installer devised a trick to prevent the constant dripping and allowing him to do the install and to keep everything dry until my Air Group rehook up occurred (I called for the rehookup when I saw the difficulties my husband was having with unhooking the washer). Anyway, Kevin, as has all (but one service person from airgroup - I wasn't here and my husband didn't notice the slight mess and never got his name), have been clean and neat and a pleasure to work with. read more

We are really happy with this company. Our real estate agent told us about them when we were purchasing our home. During inspection, we caught that there was a problem with the HVAC unit, and airgroup did the estimate and ultimate repair. Three months later, we hired them to do maintenance and purchased their "gold plan" for maintenance. A couple of months later, there was water dripping through the attic ceiling into our home. The condensation pan under the HVAC unit had overflowed. It was midnight when we discovered this, so we called air group's hotline and left a message. We were very upset about this because we spent a lot of money on their maintenance plan, and had just had maintenance done by them a few months ago. They called us back before 8 AM the next day and had a technician over the same day. Turns out that the float switch device they installed that was supposed to detect water in the condensation pan and shut off the AC did not get triggered because it wasn't installed in the right place. Also, the leak was caused by a clogged "P track." The technician cleared the P track and placed the float switch in a lower place in the condensation pan. He also did some cleanup. He wrote up everything in the report, and I called air group the next day to ask if there was anything they could do about my ceiling. A manager got on the phone and told me that they would send someone out to repair it at no cost. They have a company that they use for these issues. I didn't have to explain a lot, and the manager said he already read through the report and understood the issue. The ceiling repairman called me the same day. Of course, we have to see how the ceiling turns out, but I'm very pleased that we didn't have a fight on our hands to get the repair taken care of. This is a company that stands by their work. read more

Lower bId elEctrican came in for a panel upgrade replaced panel and midway thru I noticed our service was undersized for the 200A panel along with putting in oversized breakErs for the wiring, got rid of them, hired these guys to complete a correct upgrade to pass permits correctly with out issues. Johny and Mike did an excellent job explained what they did wrong corrected it and more importantly cleaned up after themselves like they were never there along with taking the time to point out other issues that might arise later. I appreciate an honest contractor for once as there are few out there. read more

Buyer beware!!!!! I called Air Group 1 this summer because of a small drip I had coming from the a/c unit in my attic and the lack of cool air coming from our small side unit. I spoke to one of the service techs on the phone and he told me what he believed to be the problem. He said he would send someone out , inspect the issue, they would then have to go to the appropriate heating and cooling store to get the parts and return to fix it. He said the approximate charge for the repair, time and equipment should be around $300. I thought that was very fair upon hearing their estimate. I was not home at the time of their arrival but my wife was and dealt with the tech. He tech showed up on time, where upon inspection, all he had to do was level my attic unit. He did this by jamming some spare wood I had in the attic between the unit and ceiling. He did not check the side unit at all. In the process of leveling the unit he broke one of my a/c units connecting tubes and left it there for me to find later. My wife said the tech was there for about 30 minutes and for just leveling the unit, no parts, no ride to the store we were charged $550 plus an additional $150 just because he showed up. This additional charge was never discussed or explained. He never even looked at our side unit by the way. In the end, the tech fixed the problem - no more leeks but broke something in the process which I had to call some else to fix later. We were charged $550 for him to jam wood under our a/c unit instead of fixing it properly at a rate of $1100/hr plus the fee of $150 just to show up. How this company is in business, I have no idea. If you have or have had a similar experience with them, please tell the truth about this terrible company on Yelp. No one else should be ripped off by these guys!!!! read more

I had an AC unit that was old but still working and had to call for minor maintenance which didn't cost much. I decided to get a new system so that I would have no problems. What a mistake. After using the AC for less than 2 summers, the evaporator coil needed to be replaced which costs about $1000 to repair.. not covered under warranty. This company told me to call Carrier which is the mfr they buy from to see if they would defray the cost. It was a complete waste of time. I complained but neither Air Group or Carrier assumes accountability. Then I looked online and found so many negative reviews about Carrier products and potential class actions some related to this part and well ..many other costly repairs to new HVAC systems which from the number of horrible complaints on Consumer Affairs, I'm not looking fwd to what will break next. Air Group, of course said that they were unaware of other cases with this evaporator Coil issue even though the complaints are readily available online and assumed zero responsibility. Air Group's response was " Sometimes things break". Yeah.. but things shouldn't break on a new unit with minimal use. We chose Air Group to install a ductless air condioning system for us. A former neighbor had Air Group install one about 7 years ago and they were very happy with the work. We spoke to the new owners of that home and they were also very pleased with the system and the company. Air Group is one of the most professional companies we've ever dealt with. From the receptionist to the sales person to the installers, everyone is skilled and knowledgeable. The technicians were very respecful of both the interior and exterior of the house. Fantastic job. Air group helped us convert to central air from window units. Had to run new ducts throughout the house and done in 2 days. With the exception of the huge crew, you would not even know such a big project was going on because they were clean, fast, and efficient. They are not the cheapest but also still very reasonably priced. The efficiency of your a/c has a lot to do with how it's installed so we chose to go with the company that seemed to know just about everything when it comes to cooling. We've now been using the system for about a month and the house cools down exceptionally fast compared to houses I've lived or stayed in the past. We plan on using them for maintenance and other heating/cooling projects. read more

Courteous, reliable and professional. Our air conditioning unit broke down last night. We called Air Group at 6:45 AM this morning, and left a message. We expected a call back after 8, but Air Group returned the call within 5 minutes. A highly qualified technician came to our house later in the morning, and worked with us to provide solutions that work for us. It's almost 2PM on the same day, and it's about 90 degrees outside. Last winter, on a very cold day, my home's forced air heating system died. I made a few calls looking for same day service. Air Group said they could be there in a few hours, but couldn't tell me what the circuit board replacement would cost. Some years earlier I had the board replaced for a few hundred dollars including labor.The Air Group service tech found the board was defective, and told me the charge for the board would be $600. I called their office to confirm their excessive price, and was told that that is their price. I mentioned that this board is commonly available on the internet for around $150. Air Group's attitude was take it, or leave it! With the outside temperature less than 30 degrees, i had little choice but to take it. I strongly feel that this is an outfit to avoid. read more
