I took my elderly mom with me for lunch on a Saturday. The food was fantastic! I had the Kung Pao chicken and she had the cashew vegetables and we shared crab rangoon and it was all exquisite. Drink choices are water or a 20 oz plastic bottle of soda. No tea, no coffee. The service was ODD. The lady that was working in the front was very curt and businesslike. She was never rude but it was just weird. Like, for instance, I told her that we would like the crab rangoon to start and she literally just walked away. No "ok" , no nod, no "I will have that out soon", just walked away. I was wondering if she heard me and I was pleasantly surprised when our crab rangoon did show up. All of our interactions with her were the same. Very minimal, no smiles or friendly "do you need anything else" type conversation. She just did the bare minimum and as a former retail employee, it made me chuckle because I get it, retail work is so mentally exhausting that you often want to just not be there. We did not get our check (there were only two other groups of two there while we were there so it did not seem busy) and we were ready to go so I went up to the counter and asked if we could pay and I did not get an itemized receipt at all, just a total! Very odd. I have never seen this before at any restaurant! I knew about what our total should be and it seemed a little low so I went with it. She did not do the thing where they give you two copies so that you can put a tip on the restaurant copy so I put no tip on my card and just used cash in the tip jar. Again, very strange! The whole experience was very strange but the food was great! I don't think my mom will ever want to go back but I would go. We have been coming here for about 3 years since discovering this great place to eat! Today, hankering for some great Chinese, I placed an online order. It was ready in less than 15 min and placed safely on the table in the entry way for me to pick up. I drove home approximately 10 miles and it was still piping hot! We got an order of shrimp fried rice, cashew chicken, crab Rangoon and spring rolls all for $25.... you cannot beat the price, the food or the great owners and their children! The food here is probably the best I've had in the KC metro area, but the Chinese women out here just looooooooove to yell at you when you call in an order. Her daughter and sister (I think?) help out at the restaurant and deliver insane customer service. So, if you can get past the "WHY DID YOU CALL ME RIGHT NOW?" attitude of the owner, or by luck, get to talk to the other sweet ladies, you'll find the food is fresh and to New York style Chinese food taste. I don't remember having a bad experience last time I came here, so maybe tonight was a one-off situation, but the service was horrible. When I called in the woman I spoke with would barely take my order, so naturally when I went to pick it up it was wrong. She seemed very frustrated that I ordered it wrong and almost charged me the same price until the child working there corrected her. This is the best Chinese takeout you'll get in Lees Summit! I've tried them all, and this takes the cake. The appetizers, crab rangoon especially, was fantastic. I've only had their chicken dishes and they are superb. The soup isn't the best I've had around so I'd skip it, but most dishes are good. My husband and I just wanted some quick Chinese takeout and weren't looking for a 5 star restaurant, but we were floored with how bad our food tasted from this establishment. I love Aikou! I come here multiple times whenever I'm in town. Very flavorful dishes, my favorites are the orange chicken and the Moo goo gai pan. Always fresh and very timely. They get a lot of flack for their customer service, which admittedly isn't the best, but they're literally just there to do their job and serve tasty food. The food was terrific! Don't let the small restaurant & take-out atmosphere deter you. The food was excellently prepared, fresh and abundant with ingredients. I haven't seen sweet and sour chicken served with the pineapple and veggies in years. Hot and sour soup was tasty with all the ingredients, instead of just the broth and egg like some places. Chicken lo mein was delicious and the kids split that with lots left over. The "chicken with veggies" had the white garlic sauce (moo goo gai pan) vs. the brown sauce "chicken with mixed vegetables" it is sometimes served with at other places. Crab Rangoon, steamed rice, and fried rice were well prepared too. Everything was good! We got the dinner combos and the portions were generous. They deliver too! Just moved to Lee's Summit and we are happy to have found our new place to order Chinese from. FYI Your maps app may send you in the wrong direction like it did for us. Tonight was our second time ordering from here. I always prefer to place my food orders online. So, I don't know about any poor phone customer service. The delivery guy was great both times. This is one of very few places to be able to get Singapore Mei Fun, and theirs is excellent! I have a hard time finding any place with good Kung Pao chicken these days, but Aikou has the best!!!! I love that it is loaded with veggies, chicken, and peanuts! No bland bites at all! The sauce is rich and so flavorful! I also love that they chop the ingredients small, how the dish should be. Twice I have had Sweet & Sour Chicken - pretty good. Today I visited during the dinner hours and ordered my favorite: Orange Beef. AWFUL !!! - the beef was at least 95% fat. I always enjoy my food from here. As far as good goes, it is excellent. Customer Service needs work. Today is the first day I think encountered the rude worker everyone talks about in the reviews. She addressed me by saying, "Ok, girl, it's your turn" She was unapologetic and even said "well you are a girl not a boy, right?" Well you can color me surprised by how much I enjoyed eating here. Went here with some people from work to give it a try (especially since my work is in their delivery zone). It is very small inside (I think maybe 10-12 tables) so it seems carry-out and delivery are their main business. Their lunch specials were excellently priced and averaged about $5-6 and for that you got an entree, fried rice, crab rangoon or egg roll and your choice of soup. I didn't want soup so they gave me an extra crab rangoon (which was delicious by the way, not greasy at all and had a generous amount of cheese). I opted for the Kung Pao chicken. Wasn't overly spicy but still had a good kick. Good portion size for the price (I actually took a little back to the office with me where is was summarily eaten). Definitely going to have to start getting Chinese more often at work. read more

I love this place, we order about once a week and our food is delicious! The owner is a sweet lady who speaks in a very matter-of-fact tone but don't confuse it with being rude. Our food is always fresh and we had not had anything we didn't like. Only because I couldn't do 2.5 stars. This place was very average. I got delivery and the lady on the phone was very unprofessional. Although the food did come in 20 minutes, she told me it would be 30-40. The man who brought it was on the phone the entire time and didn't even say hello or acknowledge my presence when I came to the door.
