China 88 reminds me so much of my favorite Chinese spot in Raytown, which I love--and the best part is it's just across the street! I ordered the sweet and sour chicken with a side of shrimp fried rice, and it was really good. I especially appreciated that the fried rice included onions, carrots, and peas, since a lot of places only add onions. We ordered takeout and had no issues at pickup--everything was ready on time and our order was correct. Overall, a solid experience and definitely a convenient go-to spot. read more

The food is always so consistent and for a great price. We usually place one big order for our shop once a week. We know exactly what to expect and they are always SUPER FAST. When I say fast, I mean I was pulling out the $50 from my wallet to pay and she already had my change ready to go. If you're in a pinch for time and want some solid Chinese food, check them out. They also have an indoor seating area, if you prefer to sit down. I appreciate that it's clean inside even though the area is undergoing some construction with scaffolding blocking the business. China 88 was always my go to restaurant. Food was always consistent balanced wonton soup, egg rolls, ma po tofu ETEC. I went there last night in search of some comfort food and was so totally disappointed. I literally had to drain the broth out of the wontons after I tried it and redo it with Lee Kum Kee broth powder in order to make it taste decent. The eggroll was a mushy disgusting mass on the inside. Crab rangoon were good as always. Have not tasted my mushu pork or my ma po tofu yet. I was very very very disappointed. Since COVID this place has really gone downhill and I have to wonder if they even have the same chef working. It is filthy, I certainly would not want to eat there. I would steer clear of this and I am going to look on the reviews pages to find another good Chinese restaurant in Lee Summit area. read more

The order came quickly. Unfortunately the spring rolls were a little mushy inside. So my husband and I didn't like them. The cashew chicken was all right but the sesame chicken tasted more orangey than like sesame chicken and neither my husband nor I enjoyed it. The servings were plentiful though. My favorite non buffet Chinese takeout in the metro. I live in Olathe but anytime I am in Lees Summit I try to stop here. Love the General Taos Chicken and the Crab Rangoon. This has been our go-to Chinese restaurant since moving to Lee's Summit three years ago. The food is delicious and they have yet to mess up our order (which is a big deal considering most places in Lee's Summit are incompetent). However, the lady at the front desk is pretty rude every time we come in, which is why I gave them four stars instead of five. Other reviews do not lie that they are not well decorated either, but this doesn't really matter to us considering we're just picking up our food. We enjoy the food from China88. The food is well prepared and portions are good. (I'm usually surprised how heavy my pick up order is). Always like to get the Hot and Sour soup, very flavorful and really is hot and sour. Reliably good with their Crab Rangoon and fried dumplings. That can be a good light meal by itself. Any of your favorites come to you well executed: Kung Pao Chicken, General Tso's chicken or tofu, Orange beef, Curry Chicken, Ma PO Tofu, Hunan or Szechuan anything, and fried rice or noodles. Some thai recipes available too. Nice menu full of selections. My vegetarian kids like the vegetable and tofu soup!! Pretty much a carry out/delivery place. Never tried a delivery. Chinese restaurants seem to come and go a lot in Lee's Summit. We tried calling the one we use to order from for delivery tonight and got a private residence...so we turned to the phone book and on a whim called China 88. I think I saw their drivers out a few months back so guessed they delivered. We ordered two entrees, two small egg drop soups, and appetizers. Got it all delivered for $30.00 including the tip. I really enjoyed my egg drop soup. The small is enough for a small meal in itself. The broth was thick and there was lots of egg white in the egg drop. My crab rangoon actually had the taste of crab and I could see some pink chunks in the creamy cream cheese. The small is three and the large is 6. I went with the small and was fully satisfied. Hubby was happy with his Spicy Pork and I really enjoyed my Sesame Chicken. Enough for at least one and probably two meals of left overs. I also liked the fact that most items came in reusable containers and the driver was friendly and the service was speedy. We will be ordering from China 88 again. read more

This China 88 just moved locations from 291 at 5th in Lee's Summit to Woods Chapel Road. In fact, this place seemed to open up overnight when the Japanese Restaurant that was in the location suddenly closed for business. My husband called in for take-out one day and ordered our favorites: Broccoli with Tofu and fried rice for me and a lunch special of crab rangoon, sweet and sour chicken, and egg drop soup. Food was ready when promised - just a few minutes later, in fact, and everything tasted delicious. Plus - it was all under $13 for lunch for 2 with PLENTY left for tomorrow's lunch, too. Eating here is eventless but consistent, with a happy staff and a HUGE menu with large portions. Lots of parking and good hours. This is my local Chinese place, for sure. read more

You're losing a star 88, for several reasons, here are just a few... I realize you're going to drop that fry basket into oil hot enough to kill anything in just a few seconds, but I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to knock it on the inside of the trash can to release the fried bits from the previous batch of eggrolls, rangoon, etc. I don't pretend to know health code, but I'd say that's a violation of some sort. Frying a large batch of chicken chunks to keep on hand for use in the various fried chicken chunk dishes (sweet-sour, tso's, orange, sesame, etc.), and keeping it at room temperature before tossing them in the wok with their respective sauces, is really having an effect on the quality of meat. In other words, that crap becomes inedible after the second round of cooking. Stay away from the fried chicken chunks dishes. Moral of the story, some of their stuff is good, and some of their stuff is bad, but it's all pretty darn cheap, so quit complaining! read more

Best takeout/delivery in LS! Ever since our family moved here about a year ago, we have been looking for a REALLY GREAT Chinese delivery place, without much luck. That is, until a coworker told me we should try this place. I've never eaten in, just gotten delivery. (We already have a sit-down place we like.) However, China 88 has always been fast, fresh, and generally superb! My SO asked them to make his house lo mein spicy, and it was AWESOME. The crab rangoons have SO MUCH filling! Time it takes for food to arrive is standard, about 30 minutes I think. We've ordered from China 88 about half a dozen times in the last few weeks; it's so good! Also, they have SMALL-sized portions available, which is perfect for my child! And they're open until like, 10:30 pm! And you can order online!! read more

China 88 is my go-to Chinese takeout. Combination meals are a deal (Entree, rice, soup, eggroll and crab rangoon for around $7.50). Shrimp lo mein is a steal (Small has more than 10 shrimp and a grip of noodles for less than $5). Food is good, albeit inconsistent in flavor. The cashew chicken has a couple of different tastes, depending on who's cooking. Both are good. Order with the "Beyond Menu" app and your takeout is ready in 10 minutes. read more

Love it. This is a family business; as such, yes, there are boxes against the wall. Yes, it really needs to be updated. China "88" is the year when the family opened the restaurant (1988). My review is more about the food, which is always fresh and delicious. The Crab Rangoon is a little different here - it is not the traditional star form. It is more like a scrunched up dumpling and tastes very sour cream and onion-like. One of my favorites. China 88 was my family's go-to Chinese takeout place when we were living in the Lee's Summit area. Their portions are very generous- a basic lunch combination gets you soup, rice, an entree, and a set of crab rangoons or an egg roll. They have canned and bottled drinks, or, if you're eating in their dining area, they have fountain Coke products. The food was delicious and definitely a great price. Not very expensive at all. I will admit that their dining area decor is not stellar, but the food and prices more than make up for it. I would highly recommend China 88! read more

There were literal open boxes stacked against a wall, there was paperwork and open containers scattered around the cash register, and the stench was unbearable. Delivery order has taken over an hour (and counting) and I live 4 blocks away- when I called to see why it was taking so long I was told they were busy and I could come pick it up in 10 minutes. We ordered delivery because we've had a few drinks and didn't want to drive. A refund isn't an option. I was told I could come pick it up in 10 more minutes or wait 15 more minutes for delivery. Solid Chinese food. It's a traditional Chinese place so there's not much they could've messed up. It's more of a takeout place than dine-in from the looks of it in that the kitchen was busy, but there was no one there. We came in to order carry out and the food was ready within about 15 minutes. There were TWO China 88s in Lee's Summit. The one on Woods Chapel Road is much better than the other. The food is always fresh and delcious, the service is very courteous and friendly, and the plates and glasses are really lovely. In contrast, the place on Melody Ln. was loud and the chicken was overcooked. We will only go to the one on Woods Chapel Rd. in the future, it is great. read more

food is always made fresh when i eat here. if your eating chinese, this is your best bet in lees summit! prices are very reasonable and food is tasty and always smoking hot! the fact that they are open late and deliver late is very useful since i get work late and get hungry even later! Thats why i give it a 5 star!! The General Tsos' Chicken is only 7$ for a small order and i always substitute lo mein for white rice. Well after going here for years I think it's about time I slap my 2 cents on the board. This is my family's "Go-to" Chinese food. Over the years I have had almost 1 of everything, and always have been satisfied. Food for the price comes in enormous portions, and not being able to eat all that goodness is the only empty feeling you will have after eating here. The basic Chinese dishes are delicious but I will suggest orange chicken over generals tso. The pork fried rice is a must with any dish, and the handmade crab rangoons are light and crunchy. If you're looking for good Chinese food at a good price, China 88 is the way to go. read more
