Downtown Oakland

I must start by saying that I have never really been much of a legal-action guy. But then a…read moresituation arose where I felt like I was being legitimately screwed by an ex-employer who was reneging on a commission agreement. I saw the SCA posters on BART one day and thought "What the hell - I'll give them a call." I explained my situation to the attorney assigned to my case (I'll call this person JC), and provided all the documentation I had on my situation. JC was very accommodating and transparent about everything; process, fees, etc. The great thing is that there are no fees unless you win. And, if you win, its all money you likely wouldn't have had if you didn't sue for it. While the discovery process (going over all my documents and info from the other side) took a few months, I wasn't really in a hurry. I let JC do the work. Once in awhile JC would call and ask for clarification on an issue or for more documentation. A few months later, JC called and asked what my bottom-line settlement was ... We came up with a number - JC went back to negotiate. Not long after that, JC sent me digital forms to sign online, told me the settlement amount and reminded me of SCA's fees. A couple weeks after that I received a FedEx envelope w/ checks for me. Simple. I never had to meet with the other party, never had to go to court, never even had to go to the SCA office. Super easy. If you think you're being screwed at work, or at your last job, I highly encourage you to at least call SCA.

If you want an appointment in Oakland you will not be able to have one. They will schedule an…read moreappointment and not tell you that Oakland is only for Notary services. This happened to me twice - the second time when I specifically asked for an Oakland appointment and was told they are only there on Thursdays. I scheduled for the Thursday - 3 weeks after my first appointment - arrived at on the correct date and time waited in the lobby. I was then told by the Notary that the Oakland location is only for Notary appointments. I went outside and called the Oakland office number. Spoke to the employee who answered the phone who was located in Walnut Creek. Explained that this is the second time I specifically scheduled for Oakland and the second time my appointment was made for Walnut Creek. Mentioned that at no time was I told by any employee that the Oakland office is only for Notary appointments. There is no mention of this on their website either. He asked if a specific date was ok for me. When I said "Please hold on, I need to look at my calendar" he continued speaking even though I could not hear anything he was saying because I was physically looking at my phone. When I returned I said the proposed date and time was not good for me because I had a vet appointment on that date he replied "Oh, I know" ( I have no idea how he knew I had a vet appointment). After I said I would just call an Attorney to accomplish what I needed, the employee then provided additional options. We agreed on an appointment for the following week in the Walnut Creek office. Upon my returning home I had received not one but two (2) emails confirming my appointment at the Oakland office. With the many errors that were made by Guideway employees I wonder if they will be able to correctly complete the forms I need to submit to start the process of closing my mother's Estate. The employee I spoke to was somewhat condescending. The worst thing this employee said during our conversation was: "The Oakland office was too dangerous for our employees so we now only have that location for Notary appointments."
