I hired Sam at Bear Flag to collect a judgement award. He charged me $390. During the time of his services, he failed to communicate with me in a timely fashion. When it came time to submit the account number to the defendants bank so that I could collect the judgement award, Sam submitted the wrong account number for the defendant. Of course, the bank wrote that there was no individual by that name. I have been emailing and calling Sam repeatedly for 3 months, begging him to let me know what I can do to remedy the request to the defendants bank so that I can collect my judgement. He has not answered his phone. He has not returned my voicemails. And he has not responded to emails. It seems that Sam has taken my $390 and run. Very upsetting and I plan to file a complaint with California's better business bureau. This is all incredibly disappointing and disturbing to feel taken advantage of by those whom you hire to support you in the Justice System. read more

Great experience with Bear Flag. I called up a bunch of process servers to get a quote and better understand the process for how to serve papers for my specific scenario. I've never been involved in a legal dispute, so I wasn't quite sure how everything would play out with the unresponsive person I was serving. After speaking to Sam, the owner, I felt that he was by far the most professional and competent. He asked me questions and understood my scenario, while other servers didn't seem to be as patient or helpful. It seemed like others wouldn't try that hard and would hit the max number of tries, coming back to ask for more money. I felt like Bear Flag would really try to get the job done within the max of 3 times. Sure enough, they did. After they received my papers, they finished the job within 48 hours. Getting the job done, and done so quickly, was a huge relief to me after months of anguish. They followed up with an email and processed the appropriate paperwork with the court within the week. Bear Flag was the most expensive option of all the process servers I talked to, but at the end of the day, they were extremely professional and responsive. Bear Flag is awesome! We needed a subpoena served to a very elusive individual who represents a very, very, very elusive company. Bear Flag has several "tricks up their sleeve" to find people who don't want to be found!!! They really went above and beyond to get this subpoena served. And, they served it the same day I sent it to them! Sam is very knowledgeable and even called me when he received the subpoena to let me know it had some missing information. I'm so glad I discovered Bear Flag earlier this year! My firm had been using a large, national company to do our process serving, but decided that having someone local would probably be faster, friendlier, and easier to deal with. Thankfully, Bear Flag is all three - PLUS they saved us money on service. I had to serve someone and was only able to give one day's notice as I wouldn't be available to help properly serve the individual the rest of the week because of vacation. They offered to come at 6:30 AM to serve the guy and sure enough were here ringing my doorbell at 6:30! These are the goto guys if you need a process server. read more

Serving people and companies with legal process is not an easy job. In addition to the often surly reaction a server will often be subjected to, you have to be creative with people who are trying to avoid process and your lawyer clients are often on deadlines. Bear Flag is the BEST! They are competent, reliable, responsive, (and caring!) I'd never had to do this before, and the person I was serving papers to was dodging the sheriff's department (who I'd given papers to serve.) I was in a pinch because I was running out of time to serve papers, and needed a service who worked evenings. I spoke with Sam who not only took the time to listen to my situation, but he explained to me the whole process and the number of tries that they could attempt. He suggested the lower priced option. I was so stressed about it I was going to pay for the higher priced (three attempt) option, so clearly he wasn't trying to get me to pay more money than necessary. In fact, they accidentally overcharged me by $10 and then promptly refunded me (I didn't even realize that I was overcharged!) And they kept in amazing communication with me. They let me know when the papers were served, what happened, and they also let me know when the proof of service was filed with the courthouse and emailed me a copy of the paperwork. Hopefully I never have to do this again, but I do want others to know how GREAT Bear Flag is.
