The kicker: If you want to hire him he expects you to give him $5,000 (cashier's check) without providing you with a fee/retainer agreement. If the client fails "to sign and send this proposed contract back to me so that I receive it within seven (7) calendar days (unless another time deadline is indicated in the email that I send to you with the proposed contract, or in the contract itself), then I will charge you a nonrefundable flat rate of $250 for my time spent in drafting and sending you the proposed contract, which I may immediately deduct from any monies you have sent to me" My life advice to anyone who cares to listen: Do whatever can to avoid ever having to deal with a lawyer - I'm sure there are some out there who are decent human beings, but good luck finding 'em.
