EDIT 4
I have removed the words that Aly objected to because they are not necessary.
My message is clear without them and Aly's ugly threats only further my position.
Aly's most recent response:
"There are dozens of outstanding reviews of my legal services on my law firm's website: http://www.sanfranciscob....
You claim I provided you a 1/2 hour phone consultation, yet I have no record of your name. During all consultations, I listen carefully to the details of the prospective client's concerns, and we discuss possible legal strategies and a realistic budget for representation.
My suggestions for down payments to my prospective clients differ on a case-by-case basis, and I strongly consider their budget to present an affordable down payment and even suggest payment plans.
Your review contains information that is incorrect and legally tortious even as edited, yet it seems your goal is simply to blast misinformation and defamation still. You have republished your own defamatory remarks about me by requoting them as I quoted your words in my private message to you. This is defamation per se and forms the legal basis for my action against you. You must remove this language altogether from your public review.
It serves no public interest to other Yelpers to spread misinformation, but simply raises the spectre of a Yelper's own profile - nothing more. If you seek fame, blasting others on Yelp is a meager manner in which to effectuate that. It takes years to build something productive yet mere seconds to destroy it. By trying to defame my law firm, you are undermining the excellent work I do for my clients and our community. I have already contacted Yelp about this matter and will seek legal recourse in Court against you, be sure."

EDIT 3
I have edited the original review.

EDIT 2
Looks like Aly thinks he can fight the anti-SLAPP laws since he's threatening to sue me.
For the sake of clarification, in my original review I was relating my experience - our conversation as I remember and understood it. I do not have a transcript of the conversation. I was not quoting Aly verbatim. The lack of quotation marks should have made that clear.
Here is the message I found in my Inbox from Aly:
"In your review of my firm and of me, you state that I said, " **** *** ** ***** " These false statements of yours are defamation per se of my character and business. Freedom of speech does not protect you when you defame me with libel or slander. I am warning you that I will sue you for this for injunctive relief and monetary damages in Superior Court of CA. For litigation purposes and to serve you a Summons and Complaint, I can easily find your identity and address via subpoenas. You must remove this libel immediately from anywhere you have written it, including Yelp."

EDIT 1
My response to Aly's comment: Notice how Aly never addresses the issue I brought up in his response to my review. Also, he has not proven that the testimonials he presents are real.
I am real and you can message me if you want further info.

So this guy expects you to pay up front thru paypal for a phone consultation, before even scheduling the consultation - a little shady, but nothing conclusive.
We do the phone consultation and instead of actually addressing the issues in our case and discussing a possible strategy he goes off on a highly unprofessional tangent - that's my opinion of course. $70 down the toilet.
The kicker: If you want to hire him he expects you to give him $5,000 (cashier's check) without providing you with a fee/retainer agreement. He claims that he writes a fee agreement tailor made for the client and as such the client should provide the
$5,000 as a sign of good faith. If the client fails
"to sign and send this proposed contract back to me so that I receive it within seven (7) calendar days (unless another time deadline is indicated in the email that I send to you with the proposed contract, or in the contract itself), then I will charge you a nonrefundable flat rate of $250 for my time spent in drafting and sending you the proposed contract, which I may immediately deduct from any monies you have sent to me"
My life advice to anyone who cares to listen: Do whatever can to avoid ever having to deal with a lawyer - I'm sure there are some out there who are decent human beings, but good luck finding 'em. read more
