When we went to court to ask for child support and other filings considered the paperwork was not filed at all and the judge couldn't rule on anything. Ms Bartlett stated it was filed but the judge again said there was nothing. After court was over I received the paperwork to sign it and have it filed properly and the date was stated for that day. I was not happy as I was not receiving any money at all and was trying to get on my feet. I switched lawyers and I believe she knew I needed someone who was more experienced with a high conflict case but when I went back to court with my new lawyers to ask for back child support they denied me months of support because it was my fault that the first lawyer dropped the ball. I was upset but my new lawyers were uplifting and encouraged me this was her mistake and request my retainer back. I did not seek it as I am finally done with the divorce but I wished I had asked more question throughout the process as ultimately this was my life and money that was on the line.

Janice and her office staff were always professional, kind, informative and prompt. I worked a lot with the paralegals in her office to help keep costs down, but Janice was always available if I needed her. They kept me updated regularly, answered all of my questions and concerns and generally put my mind at ease during this difficult time in my life. Except for providing them all of the information they needed (financials, properties, etc.) there was not a lot I had to do. Many months into our working relationship, a family emergency necessitated I put the divorce proceedings on hold for a long time. A year actually. Not only was this acceptable to Janice, but her support during this time meant the world to me and has not been forgotten. All of my documents were downloaded to Dropbox so that I could access them at any time. You may think all of this is standard. And it should be. At first I believed she was an excellent attorney and was very hopeful. That changed quickly. She heavily promotes the recent bench trial verdict in In re Durable Power of Attorney of Dock Dean (Case No. 23STPB13044, Los Angeles Superior Court) as a $47 million victory on her firm's website and in press releases. In reality, this appears to be self-promotion. She went after the easiest targets among the three defendants, obtained a large judgment that has not yet resulted in meaningful recovery for the estate, and is now billing my father's estate for hundreds of thousands of dollars--amounts that independent tax and estate planning professionals have told me provided no real benefit to my father. Her most serious error was representing two beneficiaries with unequal interests in the estate--the victim's son and granddaughter--creating a clear non-waivable conflict of interest. This led to her actively pitting me against my niece and permanently damaging our family relationship. She has since become adversarial toward me in court filings, including making negative statements about me that appear to violate basic attorney ethics rules. What should have been her breakthrough case instead exposed disloyalty and poor judgment. I also experienced her overstepping her role as an attorney. She repeatedly tried to control aspects of my personal and financial life and offered financial advice without any qualifications to do so. Her communication style was often intimidating and made me feel pressured rather than supported. Former employees have posted concerning reviews on Glassdoor about the work environment at Evans Law Firm, which aligns with my experience. I strongly advise anyone considering hiring Ingrid Evans to trust their instincts and look elsewhere. She is not the dedicated advocate she presents herself to be. Our fathers ex-wife…read moreorchestrated a death bed "will" while our father was on morphine and other meds in his last day of life...and she did this while we were on a lunch break from being in the room with our father. He passed away the next day. We had no idea what the ex-wife had done while we were out of the hospital room. It was not until we got a Fed Ex from the ex-wife's attorney a week and a half later that we found out she stole the whole estate from underneath us. Our family consulted with Adriana and she immediately knew that we had been victimized and she took on the daunting task of proving to the courts that the this death bed will was NOT our fathers final wishes for his children. She was energized and had spark which is very rare to see in an attorney - especially when her job is overturning a signed will. It is most definitely an uphill battle and she took it head on. As with any very difficult litigation, it took a while to get to where we ended up...but it is results in the end that matter and she pulled us through all the way. After that day administrative rights were stripped away from the ex-wife and awarded to my sister so she could properly distribute the estate - the way it was intended to be.
