Service has gotten much better our last couple of visits, and the food is still really craveable. I'm glad things have gotten smoother, as I really do enjoy the food here. read more

Not the least impressed. Well, the potions were large. No alcohol. How the Chef got the Beard nomination escapes me. read more

I wish I had photographed the food and interior! It's a great experience at Ahan! We had a party of 6, and, normally you can expect a wait. But the host made room for us and we were seated in a few minutes. Our server was friendly, prompt, and knowledgeable. We sampled 3 appetizers - Galapao Lao (stuffed steamed buns), pork dumplings, and summer rolls (veggies). All were served with delicious sauces and were a great way to start a meal. For entrees, we had the Yellow Curry (one with chicken and one with tofu), the Praram Long. Song with Chicken, the pho Gai, and Sai Oua Fried Rice with Chicken. All were delicious. The owners have done a great interior renovation from the former El Dorado restaurant that was here earlier. I would call it relaxed elegance, very suitable for a date or family and friends hanging out. It's an interesting path to get to the restaurant, which makes it feel like an exclusive, insiders destination. read more

Ahan is right off of Atwood and its in a good location but don't be surprised if you end up driving past it. Getting parking in their lot is rare since there's only a few handful of spots. We ordered the sweeten Thai ice tea which was delicious, and spring rolls which were brought to us very quickly. But this is when it started going down hill. After 40 minutes already having gone by since we ordered our food, we waited an ADDITIONAL 40 minutes before got our Pork drunken noodles, and chicken pho. The service was awful. There was an event going on in the shared space of the restaurant but I still don't understand why the service was that bad. Either get more staff or don't open the restaurant if you can't cater to the customers. The pork Drunken noodles was flavorful but nothing special. The Chicken Pho was 80% water and green onions and had no flavor at all. And they never gave me a soup spoon or chop sticks for the pho. This restaurant isn't worth going to simply because of the poor service. You can try going during the weekday or there isn't an event going on so that May effect your experience. I just wont be giving them a second chance. A 2hour wait is unacceptable. read more

Insanely amazing food, a great spot for traditional laotian food. plus a really sick venue too!

The food was awesome. Loved the dole whip and the mango sticky rice, and highly recommend the pho tai!

I've ordered takeout/delivery from Ahan twice and had a good experience both times. They definitely make high quality and fresh food! The Chicken Pho is flavorful, the Vegetable Egg Rolls are big, and the Son-In-Law Eggs (which I had never heard of until coming here) are delicious and unique. However, I'm only giving them 4 stars because they give me lemons instead of limes for my pho, their prices are a bit too high (especially compared to other Asian restaurants in the area), and I wish there was an option to buy the Heavenly Jerky and Son-In-Law Eggs as individual appetizers rather than only having the option to order them in a $17 snack platter that comes with sticky rice and beef sausage which I don't want. read more

Every dish impressed me. Beautiful presentation. Perfect spice. First bite of the summer roll made me want to come back

This is the best food I have ever eaten. I think the chef is magical. Everything I ate was beyond delicious and truly unique and amazing. Enjoy! read more

Really great food! I got takeout (it seems more like a takeout sort of place) and would highly recommend it. Green curry was divine! Beef laap and Khao Poon Kathi Dang were both good. Will be returning! read more

I rarely post reviews but I had too. My family and I eat Asian food all the time and have been to basically every Asian restaurant in Madison. Ahan is easily the best Asian restaurant we've been too here and is one of our favorite restaurants in the area now. You must try if you live here or from out of town! read more

Hands down my favorite Madison fast-casual. The Tom-Yum soup with friend chicken? GET OUT OF HERE. Holy smokes the broth is UNREAL. The pho is great too. They do a GREAT job of packing everything up to go. It's hot and perfect when I get it home. Affordable. Flavorful. Amazing variety in what is offered in their menu. Easy to order through their website. THEY GET IT. This checks every single dining box for me. Ahan you guys are great. read more

Food is excellent but a pleasurable experience of dining at the newly located restaurant was truncated by the different and inflexible order system. There were four of us at a table. A waiter doesn't come to your table and take your order, instead, you go up to the cash teller, order your food and pay for it and go back to your table and wait for it to be brought to you. At our table there were three separate checks, one couple and two singles. They give us each a number and I asked if we could have one number for the table. They said no it would confuse the cook. So everything came out from the kitchen as though we were all at separate tables, nothing was coordinated . For example, the person who did not order a starter but ordered first in line at the register, got his entrée before the others who ordered a starter. One ordered an entrée salad as a starter and it came with the other entrées. The starters came in relation to the time they've were ordered at the register. There were more problems regarding the orders but you get the drift. They need to put everybody at one table on one number. Every time I wanted another drink I had to get up and order it. It's inconvenient and ultimately will likely hurt their sales. I think their system really needs some tuning but the food was good. read more

Very friendly and helpful staff, fun vibe, with a broad menu of great food and drink options.

Superb soups, curries, and more at one of my favorite Madison restaurants. My go-to order is kao poon kathi dang, a delicious red curry soup with noodles and lots of fixings, but do keep an eye out for their weekly specials. The event stage brings in cool music performances and the staff is great. read more

This place has a really artsy cozy off-downtown hidden gem vibe. The food was the best Thai I've had in Madison. Ordered the drunken noodles (15/10 would recommend) and the Tom-something soup.... Yummmmm even leftover. Ordered two apps, veggie spring rolls unlike any I've ever had, and the fried rice and crab balls (forget the name) both were great. Ate it all leftover for two days and even my kids loved it. So much food def worth the price! read more

Need to be vaccinated to dine-in. which makes NO sense because I'm fully vaccinated and still got sick from COVID from another person who was also fully vaccinated. Point being the vaccine did nothing to protect me from getting COVID from another fully vaccinated person. And I still got SICK. ANYWAY... besides them pushing a political money making agenda for big pharmaceutical...the food was fantastic! Would highly recommend the food. I got pho and curry. DELICIOUS!!!!!! I think they might have live music there which is wonderful. The place has a good vibe and wonderful service. I really hope they will drop the vaccine protocol. I'd love for my unvaccinated friends to enjoy this place as well! Alternative is to order carry-out. Definitely recommend the food!!! read more

Not sure why anyone would rank this place anything lower than 4 stars. The food is exceptional and well prepared. Fresh ingredients and fantastic flavor profiles. Visiting Madison from the Bay Area where we have no shortage amazing Laotian food. I would put this on par with the best of them. Quirky place and off the beaten path a bit but well worth the visit! read more

Let me start by saying that this was obviously take out because of COVID, which may affect how the food is. Me and my partner ate here over the weekend and it was a mixed experience. About 50% of the food we got was excellent and 50% was mediocre. I am not sure if the take out nature plays into that, so I don't want to presumptively judge. The Egg Rolls were to die for. I could eat them every day and not get board. Their home made sweet and sour sauce was to die for. The hot basil with tofu was also very good, flavorful with the fried egg cooks perfectly. Unfortunately the chèvre wontons did not hold up to the take out format and were a bit soggy. I look forward to trying them again when in person dining resumes. Lastly we got the butter curry, which was the only really disappointing thing we ordered; given everything else, I was surprised to find it quite bland. Overall, it's good and I would certainly give it another shot and would encourage others to give it a shot as well! read more

Not really a sit down restaurant- it's fast casual, which we weren't expecting. The food was delicious- every dish was super flavorful and super fresh. Only complaint was that the sauces were definitely on the sweet end- with a little less sugar, mine would have been easily the best drunken noodles I've ever had. Awesome, super crispy tofu. Overall really great, but would recommend take out over eating there! read more

I was jonesin for some good drunken noodles and Ahan did not disappoint. The service was great, the food was delicious, and the thai tea was to die for. Will definitely be coming back, frequently. read more

Really great flavors here. Our favorite was the Khao Mun Gai Tod which appears to be a lunch special or maybe was a limited time offering. The rice was flavored just perfectly and the chicken was battered and fried nicely. The accompanying sauce was a sleeper in terms of heat, which was fine for me but might be something to watch out for if you can't handle heat. The Khao Soi was a different take (possibly different region) from the versions that I've had elsewhere, but still good in its own right, and I actually felt that it was a nice lighter version with the rice noodle and more soup-y broth. read more

Delicious food! Had never tried Thai before but was in the mood for something new. Got the drunken noodles, Lao salad, and egg rolls to go. The flavors we're delicious and it was perfect for sharing. Went again weeks later and tried their pork dumplings too-- also delicious! read more

I had takeout Khao Mun Gai Tod, and it was absolutely delicious. Not a single bite that wasn't 5 star. I'm not typically a reviewer but I had to give this place a shout out and would recommend it to anyone who loves good food. read more

Ahan - Khao Mun Gai Tod - Laotian Near Me - Madison, Wisconsin

Wow guys, you like this place? They said we could eat on the patio. I thought that meant table service and dishes. I was wrong. We were served takeout containers. The tom yum soup wasn't. And the garnish was literally moldy. The fried chicken batter fell off and became mushy once it hit the soup. The soup tasted of ketchup and lemongrass. I had the green curry. The tiny bit of sauce I got was flavorful and good. The pile of pea shoots, bamboo shoots, and tofu were totally out of balance. Seemed to be a cost saving measure. The rice was good. I was so craving this food and was utterly disappointed. Way too expensive for mediocre food and no service. read more

Wow! We just ate Ahan for the first time. It was one of the best meals I've had in Madison for quite a while! The drunken noodles were the best I've ever had and the pork egg rolls were to die for. Everything we ordered was superb. We were blown away! I recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves food! read more

Love the new location everything was great! I just wish they had another dumpling option other than pork. Dumpling are my favorite. Egg roll and crab ragoon are very good read more

Ahan was very good when they first opened but the last time we ordered kung pao tofu the whole box was soaked with water/sauce, the tofu was over fried and they forgot to add the peanuts. The eggrolls were also just a hot greasy mess. We used to like ordering from them due to the quality of the food but with the recent order it seems as if everything on the menu is $2-3 more than it should be and just not very delicious. read more

Dinner last night at Ahan was awesome. Tapas style dining, food was amazing, serving size for each dish was perfect for two to share. Service was outstanding, quick and very friendly. Maybe my favorite dining place for delicious food and drinks. read more

I can't even. This place is SO delicious. Im partial to the ho fun and butter curry chicken but everything on the menu has proven to be super flavorful. This place exceeds my expectations. The food carries out well and curbside pick up with this location is a breeze. read more

Amazing food! I've eaten almost everything on the menus and can't find something I don't like.

So yummy, great food! I have never been disappointed. Food is warm, on time, they use environmentally friendly packaging for these COVID times of takeout and delivery. I could eat their red curry Udon noodles every day! read more

Simply Delicious Loved everything we ordered, bonus they have Dole Whip for dessert, can't wait to take the kids there!!

I ordered the Ho Fun lunch noodles with chicken and the chévre wontons. The ho fun was perfect comfort food, loved the book choy in it and the chicken tasted high quality. The chévre wontons were good, I liked the ratio of cream cheese to wonton. Definitely give this place a try, really happy to have them in the neighborhood. read more

This was our first time getting takeout at this restaurant. In our opinion, having either lived in or traveled to major cities around the world, this is the most phenomenal and genuine Southeast Asian restaurant in Madison. Everything was made from scratch, the flavors are genuine and spot on, and they were especially accommodating for one person in our party who has celiac disease. Our elementary school age daughter asked if we could eat here every night! We will definitely be back, and are so pleased to have them in our neighborhood. read more

Picked up food and everything was amazing! I had the red curry udon and it was to die for. Huge serving so I had the leftovers later cold - even better! My partner had the drunken noodles and liked them too. He has had better, but they were good! The best part was the veggie egg roll. It was so crispy and had amazing flavor. We will be back! read more

This place rocks. Tai Pho is so good. Take out is served with a "build your own" dish concept which is fun. We'll be taking foot out on the regular. read more

Love this restaurant owed by alums of Deja Foods (Tory Miller's holdings). Chef Jamie is amazing and her family owns Ha Long Bay (another local favorite). The food is phenomenal, fresh, interesting and full of the care and love you'd expect from a home cooked meal. Everything is good on the menu, but don't sleep on the Red Curry Udon and Veggie Eggrolls. read more

I think this is the best food I've had in Madison we had the Lao Sampler Platter and the Red Curry Udon and it was INCREDIBLE. I've been dreaming about the little fried egg pork thing. Just now eating my Udon leftovers and it's just as good as it was the first time. read more

Great take out! We loved the Khao Soi, shrimp dishes, and Chicken Pho. The Drunken Noodles were interesting but not our faves.
