Mmm avocado spring roll always hits the spot
    Cat P.

Coming from a Lao family, this is where I go to get my fix when I'm feeling homesick or craving Lao food; I've been coming to this food cart for over four years now. The owner is extremely kind and will always greet you with a smile. There are daily specials in addition to the menu items that are available everyday. My personal favorite dish is the mok pa, a daily specials item, which is a steamed catfish dish wrapped in banana leaves and lots of different fragrant herbs served over rice. Today, I had the avocado spring roll, which for $3, is the cheapest, most nutritious, and filling meal you can get in downtown Madison. The vegetables always taste fresh and the peanut sauce complements the spring roll perfectly. It's like having a burrito from Chipotle or Qdoba, but without the self-loathing afterwards. It never disappoints, and it's a great first dish to try if you've never had Lao food!

This is my Favorite food cart in library mall!!! And this is a lot since library mall is filled with amazing food carts. I however love all of the food this cart offers. Their curries are to die for, and wow their spring rolls are cheap and fresh and amazing. You can customize how spicy you want the spring rolls which I love, and I've met people with peanut allergies and they accommodate to put differs sauces. The people working in the cart are always so friendly, even when the lines are insane, and they are usually one of the last carts to leave which is great for us people who might not have time to go during lunch. Anyways, I just love this cart, the food, and the service!

Easily one of the best food carts to be found in Library mall. The Pad Thai is just as spicy as you want it to be, the meals are always quick and affordable, and Thuy and Gui both are a joy to be around. Cant say enough good things about the service and food here.

This is a really amazing foodcart on State Street. I've had two dishes here and they were delicious. The papaya salad with chicken and sticky rice was tangy and refreshing. I had mine with BBQ pork because they had not enough chicken remaining, and actually prefer it that way. They also have these giant avocado spring rolls (see photo for scale!) for only $3.00!! Perfect, healthy, cheap lunch on a summer's day. You can also add meat to the spring rolls for the same price! A tip though- their food can be really spicy. I am quite tolerant of spicy (hot) food, but even their mild was too hot for me in the papaya salad. Their customer service is excellent. The guy and lady are so cheerful and friendly, it is like they really enjoy what they do and their customers. Once when they ran out of a dish I wanted, they gave suggestions, and even samples to help me choose another dish.

Get the avocado spring roll. That's all I have to say. You won't find anything like it in town. Great food truck!

The new Library Mall isn't all that different from when I was a student, but I'm excited for all…read morethe kids who finally know what the mystery object under the metal cone is - it's a fountain! Classes of UW students have graduated without ever seeing it, and when the weather warms up they can finally enjoy food cart heaven with a lovely water feature view. Lighting is significantly brighter at night now, and the little standing tables they've installed are great for when you want to enjoy your food cart fare without having to balance it on your own lap. In the evenings you might happen across a drum circle, fire dancers, or passionate students gathering for their cause of choice. It's a convenient way to cut through campus, connecting the Memorial Union to Memorial Library and out through to the southeast dorms and State Street. If you've spent any significant amount of time on campus, you've also likely spent a significant amount of time walking through library mall. Looking forward to the grass regrowing as the lawn is a nice spot for catching some midday sunshine!

I was not sure to just review the carts individually, but like the Madison Farmers Market, I believe the whole collection of vendors is part of the experience. The food carts are all placed on the space between the Library and the University Bookstore. Lunch in an outdoor setting and fantastic people watching, occasionally even music. One of the best days I had last summer was accidentally coming across a mariachi band while hunting for lunch. And I never tire of the food. I can sample a new meal each day without trouble. By the time I go through everything available, a new cart is usually up and running and testing out the waters. The longest lines are always at Buraka, Jamerica, and Sukhothai (when they are there). Which is fine, because I can get lunch quickly at my favorites the Local Stanley or FIB's. FIB's used to serve a meatball sandwich with balls the size of oranges. They've reduced them to the size of golf balls, which makes lunch slightly disappointing but is probably better for my arteries. Be warned, currently the Library Mall has gaping hole across most of it where water main work is being done. And campus construction projects always last a long time, making a crowded space far more crowded.
