I cannot think of even one negative thing to say about AGM Heating and Cooling. If I could give them 10 stars, I would. The owner, Jeffrey Mufarreh excels in a class of service people who have qualities such as: honesty, trustworthy, super qualified, knowledgeable, super customer friendly, energetic, thorough, dependable, and the list can go on and on I had never heard of AGM Heating & Cooling until our air conditioner went out on a Saturday. I then began researching the web for a dependable company. I found AGM Heating & Cooling listed among other companies with high ratings. But certain things make AGM stand out above the other highly rated companies I called the number for AGM Heating & Cooling, and Jeffrey answered his cell phone which he keeps with him at all times. He is always accessible. I explained that the previous evening I observed that the evaporator coil inside the furnace had been caked with ice. So, overnight I let it completely thaw.I asked "How many days would it be when you would be able to come and take a look?" He said, "how about in a couple of hours once I finish what I am working on for a customer?" "Great, I said." A couple of hours later he arrived. The very first thing Jeffrey does when starting a project is to correctly "diagnose" what the issue is. He puts forth quite an effort and time to pinpoint the exact problem and to find a way to fix it correctly and with as little cost to the customer as possible. He is trying hard to put together a strong customer base and wants your trust. I am very mechanically inclined and I watched him carefully. First we went to the outside AC unit. The compressor was extremely hot and the condenser coil was extremely filthy, not allowing enough air to pass through. I kicked myself because I always use to clean it years ago. Somehow, I forgot to maintain it. He had a very sensitive electronic sensor that could pick up Freon leaks and he put it near the two ports where the Freon is filled into the system. Sure enough the caps were a bit loose and the sensor picked up leaks. Jeffrey said to me, "perhaps it's just the loose caps and the Freon leaked out. If so all we'll have to do is clean the condenser coil and fill the system with Freon." But, we still needed to go down the basement and take a look at the evaporator coil in the furnace Pulling out the Freon sensor Jeffrey began to inspect the evaporator coil in the furnace. (Recall that the evaporator coil is what I originally discovered the previous day to be caked almost completely in ice) Well the senor went off again and again. It was detecting leaks within the coil itself not just fittings or connections to the coil. So the coil was destroyed. Jeffrey showed me Freon that was dripping from the coil. There was no choice but to replace the evaporator coil which is expensive. So I told him to just go ahead and replace the entire system which is only a few hundred dollars more. It was my own negligence by not cleaning the outside condenser coil that destroyed the system. You should also know that one must always keep the furnace filter changed or the evaporator coil in the furnace will get caked with dirt as well and that can blow out your AC system too. I always change our furnace filter so, the coil in the furnace was spotless, however that did not do me much good because the outside coil was so clogged you could not even shine an LED flashlight through it. Oh well, lesson learned. Maintain your furnace and AC or you will be shelling out thousands later on. So why have I gone into such detail? After hiring Jeffrey's company, AGM Heating & Cooling, to take care of our problem I know I will never ever have to research to find a reputable and trustworthy company that can address any heating or AC problems in the future that our home may have. Jeffrey went to school and then worked for other companies for 15 years before starting his own company in March of 2015 Before getting started replacing our system I asked him, "do you have a certificate of insurance?" "Yes." "Can you produce a copy showing that it is current?" "Yes." He gave me copies of both first thing when he arrived to do the job Monday. When doing the work he was not annoyed by me watching now and again, asking questions, etc. He was willing and eager to explain anything I asked. He works with such precision and is so meticulous. He does not rush. And before the job, you know exactly what you will owe after completion. He and his assistant spent around nine hours working at our house Jeffrey just started his company with already 15 years of experience under his belt. He has a wife and two young children. He works hard to make you happy and he is expending a tremendous amount of effort to establish his company. I wanted to have someone come out and look at my humidifier after being told by a big box company that I need to replace it at a cost of almost $900. After seeing all of the great reviews for AGM Heating & Cooling, I called Jeffrey, and boy, am I glad I did. All I needed was a new solenoid valve and a new filter, saving me $650+. Also found that the filter installed by the previous tech from 'big box' company was the wrong size, leaving a gap at the top. He didn't have the correct size bracket so he did replace the existing filter with the same size until he can come back with the proper size. He also pointed out a few other short-cuts taken by the aforementioned big box company when they installed the new furnace, some of which can be corrected, but some can't. I highly recommend Jeffrey/AGM Heating & Cooling to anyone that needs HVAC or water heater repair or replacement!!! He is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, professional and will not recommend anything that's not needed! He goes over everything he does, shows you what issues he finds and makes sure that you know what can and can't be done. We started having problems keeping our house cool a few days ago. I originally called the vendor we had previously that replaced my capacitor outside. I was hesitant to do this after I felt somewhat overcharged last year, but I kept with what I knew. After three visits in two days and twice being told we were "good to go", it was still warm in the house. I looked up local companies and came across AGM. AGM looked like they had a good reputation, so I called at about 8pm last night, and Jeffrey was here in 15 minutes. Jeffrey is very thorough and thoughtful in the work that he does. He checked both our unit upstairs as well as our unit outside and pointed out things along the way that needed attention (things, by the way, the previous vendor missed that shouldn't have been). Jeffrey spent a couple of hours last night getting us in order and came back first thing this morning since he was out of refrigerant last night. Along the way, he explained what he was doing and why. I've had HVAC vendors out here several times in the past eight years, but we know we're sticking with AGM in the future. Jeffrey is a nice guy, his pricing is fair, and you can tell he takes pride in his work. AGM comes highly recommended. read more

Amazing! We had no Freon in our 12 year old unit, Jeff added 10 lbs of Freon (on the Sat of Memorial Day weekend). The next day, when I got home from work that evening, I found my elderly dad sitting in the house that was once again at 84 degrees! So I called Jeff, he came by that night - on a Sunday night! He discovered that the compressor had overheated & shut itself off. So he cooled it down & we were back up. Only that was a temporary fix, the next day, on Memorial Day, I came home from work to find that it was 84 degrees once again. So Jeff came back out, on Memorial Day! What great service!! He determined that it's best that we replace the unit since it's failing! With it being hot out, we had to keep cooling off the compressor, and we did this for several days until the new unit could be installed. On the day of the install, his assistant couldn't make it so Jeff (owner) rearranges his schedule in order to prevent our install from having to be delayed because he didn't want my elderly dad to be without a/c!! So he showed up at 7:30AM this morning & had the install completed by 10AM!! I would highly recommend AGM!! Outstanding service!! He really makes his customers his priority!! read more

Jeff, the owner of AGM Heating & Cooling, did a great job with our new furnace and water heater installation. Jeff, is skilled at his field of work and would be a great choice to work with. He went above and beyond what most others would do. For example, instead of trying to force sell any products on me he agreed to get me whatever product(s) I wanted; and he even agreed to accompany me to my local Home Depot to purchase the water heater that I wanted to buy as well as all of the necessary parts that would be needed for the installation process. He replaced all of the valve shutoffs that he felt needed to be replaced and reworked the piping that ended up needing to be reworked/replaced. Jeff made sure that everything worked well before he left and he also made sure that he kept the work area nice and clean after he had finished. PROFESSIONAL, THOROUGH, HONEST. As good as it gets. Jefferey is simple and straightforward. His prices are reasonable. Unlike others who just do what they charge for and are in a great hurry to get out and run to the next money making opportunity, Jeff went the extra mile and cleaned out all furnace components that were dirty. When one of the components could not be removed easily, he spent 15 minutes to just remove it, took it to the sink, washed and wiped it dry and then put it back!! I have not seen any repair technician with such integrity and ethics in a long time. Hope he hangs on to these values in years to come. Also he answers the phone most of the time, gives an accurate eta, and arrives exactly at or before the stated eta. There is no hanky-panky about him. I called Jeff on an issue with an air conditioner at a rental property. He was there within 2 hours and accurately assessed and fixed the problem for an extremely fair price. In addition, he checked the rest of the system and found a problem that the previous HVAC guy caused by installing the wrong part (incorrect capacitor value) which ended up damaging the fan motor. I have worked with a few HVAC guys in the Huntley area with mixed results....mostly negative. Installers show up late, do substandard work or charge what I feel are exorbitant fees for minor repairs. Jeff is the kind of guy you want to handle your HVAC related problems, goes the extra mile and is clearly looking at each service call as an opportunity to build up a satisfied client base for the long term. This review is long overdue. We've called for Jeff's services three different times. 1st was during the winter 2017 when our furnace wouldn't kick on. Jeff came by that day and found the fix. He also re-wired my Nest because the original installer (which may or may not have been me), didn't have it set up the best way. A few months later during Summer 2018 our A/C wouldn't kick in. Jeff came out that day, found the cause was some chewed wiring outside by the unit, and fixed it quickly. And most recently, we had Jeff install a new water heater. Jeff provided great info during the process and the install was quick and painless. It's comforting to know it was done right. Within an hour he was at our house, determined the problem, and had it running on a temporary fix so we'd have air. After going to get the necessary part, he returned and fixed our system. Had my A/C unit stop running on a very hot and humid night (July 6th). The next morning I called Jeffrey at AGM Heating and Cooling. Made the call at 7 am, he picked up, I explained to him the problem, he gave me two possibilities as to what the issue could be and gave me ballpark pricing for both. I agreed and he was at the house at 7:45 to fix it. Was very professional, respectful and knowledgeable. He checked my furnace and found the capacitor to be somewhat weak and suggested we change it. Our hot water heater was out. We tried to light the pilot but no success. My husband even tried Youtube (he likes to fix things himself) and realized he was he had no skills dealing with gas units (dangerous!). Jeff, owner of AGM, came out in less than 2 hours of our call! The water heater was 15 years old. Instead of saying "you need a new water heater". He first cleaned the water heater venting system, coupler, pilot stick and checked for any leakage. This is the third or fourth time I have contacted or used AGM. This time it was a furnace. Jeff helped me over the phone hoping it was something simple. Who does that anymore!? And he did eventually come out to inspect the furnace and could repair it but because I had a home warranty he suggested I go that route and have a trouble free furnace for 10-12 years versus him repairing the furnace every few years. We were having issues getting our furnace to stay lit and the initial company we called said that our only option was to spend $5k on a replacement furnace because the parts were no longer available for the furnace we had. AGM came on Christmas Eve and was able to pinpoint the issue and fix the issue without the need for any additional parts. It's been two days since the repair was made and everything is still working exactly as it should. AGM was very professional, courteous, and reasonably priced. The first time we spoke he offered diagnosis over the phone- it worked and he didn't ask for a dime. Eventually I needed a new furnace- I called him at 615 AM, he said he'd come by at 2 pm- then ten minutes later Jeff called to say he'd swing by in twenty minutes. His quote was lower than I expected, the experience was far better than expected. You simply do not see service like this in any industry- for years I used my neighbor and I always felt like he was taking advantage of me- here a guy I just met, provided both value and expertise. We returned from a trip and found our furnace was not operating. Based on recommendations, we called AGM the next morning. Jeff, the owner, was at our house within about 20 minutes. Jeff didn't mind me looking over his shoulder, and explained everything he did during the diagnosis. He noted a couple of problems with the original installation, fixed one on the spot, and will fix the other when we schedule an annual furnace maintenance in the next few days. Very happy with the service and entire experience working with Jeff. He was very professional and never tried to upsell me on anything I didnt need. In fact I asked him about a 2 speed fan to possibly get better airflow. The first thing he asked was what filter I used and instead recommended simply switching to a thinner better flowing filter and just change them more frequently. I was using a pleated 4". That change alone improved the airflow and saved me a good bit of money vs going with a new fan. I wouldnt hesitate recommending him to anyone. read more

JEFF was AWESOME today Found him working in Chicago next door asked him if he can take a look at my dryer he said sure but my specialty is heating & cooling came in looked at all the wiring kept taking it apart until he found the problem 1 year of no dryer in less then one hour he found that the wheel broke called in for a part went and picked it up replaced it vacuumed and cleaned it and put it back together in two hours he was very reasonable you can be sure I will call on you.
