The Aggie Lounge, better known to locals and regulars as "The Lou" is the closest thing you'll find in Manhattan to a dive bar. This place opened in 1952 and has been rockin' ever since although I don't think they've updated any of their decorations since day 1. If you didn't know this place was here you'd probably never think it was a bar. There are no windows and it occupies a space that's roughly 10x30. There is a jukebox up front with a stellar collection of Outlaw Country and 70's rock. If you play anything else you may be asked to leave. David Allan Coe is always a safe play at The Lou. Originally they only served draft beer but over the last few years under new ownership they've added a full bar. You can also get a bag of chips or try a pickled egg which is a tradition of first timers. The Aggie Lounge is not a great place for a quiet date or a romantic evening on the town but if you're looking to get away from the typical college bars in Aggieville and wanting an ice cold beer and a game of darts this is the place to go.

After eating, I see why it was packed. This place is great! We just HAD to try the "world famous" raspberry bean dip. You should too! I've been thinking about it ever since! Their burger menu is pretty impressive and they had several I want to try. However, I landed on the Aloha burger (thinking warm thoughts during this brisk Kansas winter). It was pretty tasty! Get the raspberry bean dip. I've been thinking about it since we had lunch. The vibe: Old timey saloon meets tombstone.

Luckily, on my most recent visit, my girlfriend and I were able to be seated immediately. If you've never had a Nancy (light beer with a splash of pineapple juice), go ahead and order that first while you look at the menu. It isn't well known outside of Aggieville unless you are a KSU alum. Then order the raspberry chipotle black bean dip. It sounds odd, but is super good. On this visit, I tried "The Bird", which is a southwest chicken sandwich on a hoagie roll. It was super filling, and between that and the dip, I wasn't able to finish everything. Must stop in Aggieville (at least during the daylight hours).

I was excited to try Full Circle after looking at their menu on YELP…read more It was difficult to find a parking spot so we parked further away from the restaurant. When we arrived there were already several people waiting inside the front door area. There was no one in the front to give our name and number of persons in our group. I had to flag her down as she was running around clearing tables of dirty dishes and also running food to tables. Unfortunately, she was obviously overloaded in her responsibilities because not only did she not greet us, but had a not so friendly look on her face. It's a shame because it set the tone for our experience there. BTW never accept the front table near the front door on a very cold windy day! You'll freeze your butt off. Even with our table on the other side of the room, I could feel the cold air blowing inside the restaurant every time someone opened that door. The staff person took our food orders was friendlier. I did notice after she left that our table had no pre-set napkins and silverware like the other tables around us all had! This proved to be a major contention for me, because our food was served with no silverware brought to us. I got up and approached our server asking for napkins and silverware. She was about to bring water to another table. She replied she'll bring them after she drops off the water glasses elsewhere. I asked her to hand me the napkins and silverware as our eggs will be ice cold by the time she gets to us. Of course she was short on knives. She said this is the only clean ones I have for now. REALLY?!!!!! We had to flag down the front lady to get missing whipped cream for one of our French Toast orders and hot water for our hot tea order. Her non-facial expression made it so unpleasant like we were bothering her. Honestly I totally understand it's a Sunday and the restaurant is super busy, but at least hire enough people, train them to smile and be welcoming and make you feel good about being there. What was obviously missing was a busboy to clear and clean tables, refill water, coffee & hot water for hot tea. After I retrieved our missing silverware two of us tasted our eggs and they were cold. UGH!!! I hate eating cold eggs!!!!! The brisket Benny was not good either! The brisket was thinly sliced and it was way overcooked burnt looking too! On top of all that he later complained of his stomach being quite upset. I used the restroom and it was a mess. The trash can was overflowing where the used towels had fallen on the floor. It did not look clean at all. If bathrooms are not maintained, it makes you wonder how clean their kitchen is when they are cooking your food order?!!!!! I had to flag down our server for our check, who by the way never checked on us, not even once the entire time we were there. I would absolutely NEVER return here!!!!! The food that was served to us was subpar - cold eggs, missing whipped cream, and overcooked unappealing thinly sliced brisket, which resulted in a bad upset stomach.
