Got some tacos to go with my delicious drink as well. Very happy to have dropped in. Staff was very friendly and the bartender was happy to talk to us about this history of this establishment (owner also from Texas apparently!). I was surprised to see how many Mexican Restaurants exist in Prague. This one came across one of my feeds so we added to our list. The restaurant is beautiful but casual. Lots of drink options. I've spent 20 years in Ca. So have some expectations. The chips were ok and the guacamole was tasty. I had the fried avocado's tacos and they were tasty. Others had a quesadilla with. My husband and I dined here during our trip to Prauge and we were super impressed. The atmosphere was lovely and the decor was beautiful (dim lighting) - which made for a great dining experience. The service was prompt and friendly, and our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and was able to make great recommendations. You could tell how passionate they were about the quality of food, drinks, and even their sauces! You could feel it when they talked about it but most importantly, you could taste it! The food was delicious - had a different twist to your traditional "American-Mexican food" LOL but it was amazing. The presentation of the drinks and each dish was impeccable! I was so excited to eat here based on all the reviews and beautiful photos. I think I must have walked in on an off day. I ordered a burrito and the food wasn't hot and the tortilla was incredibly difficult to cut through and chew. Service was a little slow which might be the reason my burrito was lukewarm. We starters off our meal with a cola braised pork belly that I put some homemade mango habanero salsa on. Probably the best dish I ate all weekend! I pulled off finishing a California burrito (adding more habanero salsa) and it was delicious. My wife had the tacos Dorados de Birria and she really loved it. To finish the meal, they only had one dessert on the menu, plantains. When I told the manager I was hoping for churros he went to the kitchen and out comes churros, handmade. What a host! Hubby and I came in for an early supper, place was pretty empty and we were surprised when the hostess seemed to doubt if she'd have an available table. A solid spot for authentic feeling but still inventive Mexican food, though by no means anything mind blowing. Service here was somewhat slow, and you'll be paying a premium compared to other spots in Prague. Agave has an extensive drink menu, we tried a virgin Pina Colada and Frozen Margarita and both were fun drinks. I couldn't tell if it was our waiter's first few days on the job, but he seemed unprepared to advise us on the menu and didn't stop by anywhere near as frequently as I would've liked. We ordered nachos, but instead got chips and guacamole, though at least we were charged appropriately on the bill. Good chips, solid guacamole, but nothing to write home about. I had the chicken quesadillas and appreciated the twist on it with mole, they definitely tasted better than others I've had. The arugula topping was a miss, and it didn't have sour cream or salsa on the side as one would expect (sour cream was $1 extra on the side after asking for it). You can find cheaper Mexican in Prague for sure, but this one isn't bad if you can get better service and want somewhere a little nicer. read more

I was really excited to try Agave as I love Mexican food and the reviews had me craving a good burrito. Unfortunately it was not in the cards. I have to say it was a really bad experience. We came here on a Sunday evening. When we arrived we were asked if we had a reservation. We didn't but the restaurant was empty. We were told that there was room at the bar and could eat there. No worries, but the entire time we were there tables were empty. Service at the bar was pretty poor. They weren't too busy but the bartender was off doing his own thing. Again just don't understand. With everything said, I was looking forward to our meal. I ordered the Burrito de Cerdito. It was weird that it had both Red and green sauce but I am always up for something different. The portion was huge but the pork had no flavor to it. Not sure how they call that carnitas. Overall a big dissapointment. read more

This place was great for lunch, we slipped in and it was pretty quiet during the week. This is just outside of Old Town, so very easy location. Decor was adorable, not traditional for Mexican but comfortable and elegant. I dug it. Lighting was just dim enough to be comfortable too. Bar was awesome, we sat there. We shared the nachos, which was way bigger in size than we expected. They were delicious, but huge. We also tried the tacos and they were very yummy. Definitely recommended. After reading reviews I did call and made a phone reservation. I called before 7pm on a Saturday and the earliest(next) available time was after 9pm so we took it. As soon as we walked in the hostess had our name and immediately sat us. I recommend calling and making a reservation so you have no wait time. If you are in the mood for Mexican food this will hit the spot. The table hot sauce is sooo good. Started with the vegetarian nachos and had the shrimp tacos and the bean and cheese burrito. We ordered the salsas but honestly if you like the house made sals they bring to the table then there is no point in ordering the extra salsas. The waitress was kind and spoke perfect English. They offer margaritas and I tried the classic and the Toms. Both were good! We were craving some Mexican food and decided to stop here after seeing the reviews. We started with the Ceviche to share between two people and it came out fresh and with enough for us both to have quite a few bites. They also brought out a small, two bite quinoa dish (I think) for us both before dinner which was nice. We also got a small bite size dessert after dinner as well - it was a nice touch. I was boring and went with the chicken quesadilla but it was well done and came with sides of beans and rice. The portions are very plentiful and we both couldn't finish our meals. The service level here was probably the best we encountered in the city with the waitress frequently checking in on us. So we looked this place up and saw it had great reviews hence why we tried it. No complaints whatsoever with the food or service. Food was fresh, hot and amazing just like authentic Mexican food. They make their sauces from scratch which are phenomenal. The bar tender took great care of me and another person all night long with no issues and a smile. We had the chicken quesadilla, carne asada Burrito and carne asada quesadilla. All three dishes were some of the best Mexican I've had in a long time.
