We didn't expect to enjoy Mexican cuisine in Prague...but Agave came up in my search so then we had to try it. We've already enjoyed several traditional Czech meals on our trip and were ready for a change. We didn't have reservations, and arrived around 6:30. The place was relatively quiet, but filled up as we enjoyed our meal. And enjoy it, we did! We started with guacamole and chips - most delicious especially after adding a few drops of the homemade hot sauce. For dinner we had Carne Asada Tacos (just the amount of spiciness I was hoping for) and the Carnitas Burrito- as filling as you expect a burrito to be, with a nice flavor and crispy texture you may not expect. Did I mention the margaritas? We had the Classic Tommy Shaken margaritas... yum! Servings sizes were generous and the flavor delicious... if you are looking for Mexican, we would definitely recommend Agave! read more

This restaurant gave us the best customer service we've had the entire two months we've been in Europe so far! Although we had to sit at the bar, our bartender/waiter Jan was incredibly attentive and great to talk to. He made sure we enjoyed everything we ordered, and even gave us free samples of an appetizer, drink, and dessert. The ceviche, fried avocado, and tacos with tiger prawns that we actually ordered were delicious. It certainly filled my craving for spicy food. The margarita was also amazing (the spicy one). I can hear a couple across the room louder than the person next to me because the architecture is an organic amplifier. I've sat in 4 different locations and they all experience this problem. Expect to do a lot of shouting here, listen to some juicy conversations between strangers across the room, and pay a lot extra for Patron. - Get the nachos and salmon tacos - Try various margaritas but the classic is pretty good - Do make a reservation - Don't expect to smoke inside - Never go to the Burrito Loco next door! read more

Very good place, great service. Margaritas were ok, not that much alcohol in them. We had a special which consisted of 3 pork quesadillas on a bed of salsa verde and white beans, seasoning and taste were delicious. They have some starters and the main dishes are either quesadillas, tacos or burritos. The atmosphere is super nice, dim lights and typical Mexican motifs decoration. Price was acceptable. I had dinner at Agave as part of a group of 20 people on a saturday night in June 2017. I was impressed by the fact that they were willing to serve us from the a la carte menu, as opposed to having a set menu for the group. Service was incredible friendly, swift and attentive :) The drink menu is very interesting, with som cool twists on the classic margarita, which I highly recommend trying. We had the nachos and ceviche as starters, which were both good. I chose the pork carnitas and beef carne asada tacos as a main course, which were both fresh tasting and well seasoned. It's funny...I never thought I would go to Prague to find real authentic Mexican food...but I did! I had the pleasure of coming to Agave and being served by the friendly host Dragon who helped us eat and drink our way around the menu. Everything looked so good, I couldn't eat it all, so we decided on: Guacamole with bacon and fresh cheese- yum! Elote- yum! Daily ceviche- MUST have! We had ours with Mahi Mahi Fried Avocado Tacos- SO good Salmon Tacos- No brainer! You get a huge piece of salmon in each gtaco Brownie with Mole- Obviously Margaritas were really yummy, service was nice and friendly, and interior is warm and welcoming. A really cool Mexican restaurant right next to the famous Dlouha Street. Love anything with avocado they make here. Definitely try their fried avocado and do not forget about margaritas! The food lives up to its rating, there is a good selection of Tex-mex items with some flair to them that is not commonly seen in even Texas Mexican places. I am from Southern California where Mexican food is abundant and I can find it on every corner and on every street. However I had some of the best Mexican food I've ever had here. I was in shock. The entire time my boyfriend wanted to come here and I replied "we are from California I did not come to Prague to eat something I eat every other day" sadly I was wrong this was great and better than most Mexican restaurants in California. I had the two tacos, both beef and they were melt in my mouth juicy. The salsa is really good and it's spicy! They use great ingredients and everything is very fresh. Food: we ordered water, a mango margarita, the Nachos Carnita appetizer, a chicken Tortilla soup and the chimichanga. My wife liked the Mango margarita, I prefer traditional margaritas, which they have. The Nachos appetizer was pretty good. The peppers were not overly hot but there. The cheese was perfect. Made me wonder if there was a real Mexican cook in the kitchen or someone who had spent considerable time in Mexico or the U.S. southwest. The chicken tortilla soup had blue tortilla chips, shredded chicken, cilantro, red pepper, maybe some cumin, radishes, tomatoes, in a chicken broth base. The bowl was brought out with a slice of avocado, the radishes and the sour cream and the soup was poured over it. My wife really loved it. The chimichanga came with sides of pico de gallo and spiced pickle slices. Pretty darn good. Not one of those big gut buster chimichangas but a nice size and the texture of the tortilla wrap was almost like a pastry. Come back: yupp. When we're here again. read more

Great Mexican spot in the heart of Old Town. They have a very upscale and new decor, with a large bar in the middle of the restaurant. My brother and I did brunch here one day and ate at the bar. The bartender was a great guy - extremely nice and friendly. He made us some good margaritas too! I wasn't sure what to expect when walking into a Mexican restaurant in Prague, but I'm glad we came here as the food was delicious and tasted authentic. I ordered the huevos rancheros which hit the spot - they gave two large tortillas of huevos rancheros - so much food that two people could easily share it. My brother got the veggie omelet and that was also very good. Overall, solid place for brunch and I'm sure their dinner is delicious too, based on the quality of the food. read more

For an American tourist who may tire from Czech food, this is a great stop. The service is friendly and helpful, and the food can be made spicy upon request. They have about eight different tacos and the guacamole is fresh. They also have quesadillas and burritos. This is no Czexican. Hard to believe, but some of the best Mexican I've had. We're from Los Angeles, spend a lot of time Mexico, and both thought the food was high quality, authentic, and very well executed. Drinks were also top notch (no terrible margarita mix syrupy flavor) -- fresh lime, agave, and good quality tequila. Guacamole has fresh avocado, cilantro. Jabanero salsa had a LOT of kick. Super vegetarian friendly, willing to replace any meat with veggies. Go for a burrito where you can pick or customize and they added grilled peppers, onions, zucchini in place of the meat. The salsas (red and green) on the burrito were smokey, flavorful. Black beans and rice inside were well cooked and very fresh. On the meat side, my wife took a risk and went for the slow roasted pork. She added some jabanero and guacamole and said it the spices and cooking compared favorably to most spots at home. Only random menu issue was that the accompanying "small" quesadilla was not small (what the menu stated) but you can just not eat some of it or share it with your tablemates. Only two small issues: No corn tortillas, and some of our chips were trending towards stale. Service was very friendly and attentive. We ordered an extra shot to split between each of our margaritas (LA trends towards a friendly pour). Great decor, great music. HIGHLY recommended. Not cheap by Prague standards, but not expensive for the quality of food and drink by LA standards. read more

The atmosphere is quite nice, dark and relaxed. Had the California burrito (as a Californian does when in Prague) which was really good. Visiting Prague for the first time I heard excellent reviews about this place so we had to check it out. I'm sooooooo glad we did! Oh my god everything from the freshly made chips and delicious guacamole topped with some queso fresco, the best quesadilla I've had in a long time. Let's not forget the margaritas which were so good I had three, seriously get the Tommys Margarita you won't be disappointed. One of the best burritos I've had, period. Sit at the bar and talk to Ryan, he's an awesome guy and has a unique perspective being American born but having lived in Prague for 6+ years. I would and likely will go back. Stopped here with my friend while visiting Prague. Both of us being from California were hesitant on trying Mexican food in Prague but it's what we were craving. It did not disappoint. Although what we ordered was simple the food was great. We had the guacamole and chips to start, it was an interesting take on traditional guacamole adding pumpkin seeds and bacon. I think the base guacamole was good and the extras added a good modern twist to it. For our main courses we kept it simple ordering tacos on corn tortillas. If corn tortillas aren't your favorite they offer flour as well. I had the Barbacoa tacos which were great they had a nice spice to them. My companion had the shrimp tacos. On those I could have done without the slaw but was an interesting incorporation of the region. The sale was also nicely spiced which is appreciated in Europe. read more

FULL DISCLAIMER: this review is geared towards my american friends who are use to typical Tex-Mex or good old fashioned mexican cuisine pending where you're from. When I go to Mexican restaurants I look for 3 key things. Drinks, chips and salsa, and the main course. On this I will add in service. Service was outstanding. Best I've seen in the Czech. Was very attentive, personal, and friendly. He noticed I liked spicy food so he brought out a sauce that was very spicy so I thought that was a personal touch. He also provided us a dish on the house to try. Very good. Now for the drinks, we got the classic marg and pineapple margarita. Both were okay. Not great. The salsa for some reason didn't come with chips. That needs to be a separate order (very strange). The main courses were good but not great. My wife got the chicken tacos which were really good. I got the Cali burrito. The steak was good but it had potatoes as a filler and thought it tasted strange for mexican. Overall I give them a 3 for service and main courses alone.
