Stopped by on the spur of the moment. Although the service was quick and the staff was friendly, I wouldn't recommend this place. Our visit started off well enough. We were served a bean taco right away. Which was very tasty. We ordered the queso fundido as an appetizer. The portion was large and came with chips which were average at best. The salsa which was served with the free taco was just odd. My husband ordered a shrimp enchilada and chille rellleno combo which he loved. I got the chillie rellano plate Whig I could hardly eat. They had neglected to remove the seeds from the chilli and it was cold. read more

My husband and I moved to Portland in July of 2015. Portland has a lot of great places to eat for certain. But we have tried quite a few Mexican restaurants/food trucks only to be left a bit flat. He likes it, but I'm not impressed. I like it, but he's not impressed, and neither of us are excited about either or the chips and salsa. Agave Azul was recommended by a co-worker. Finally! Hey Mickey!! We like it! Everything was good! A neat twist is instead of chips 'n salsa they serve you a warm, bean and cheese filled homemade tortilla with salsa. Yum! I had the chicken nachos and they were great! Enough for two. Waitress was warm and friendly. We will go back for sure! read more

My boyfriend and I went to this restaurant just the other day and it was delicious! Ill be honest though, we almost drove away when we first saw it. It looks like a place you would get food poisoning from the outside, but my friend had recommended it. Im so glad we went in! The inside was much better than the outside and the food was amazing! It was the best Mexican food I've ever had. I would go there any time I'm craving some Mexican. I think it is much better than La Careta, Im not worried about getting food poisoning at Agave Azul. Just finished an excellent margarita on the deck. Beef burrito was very tasty... Just the right amount of well- balanced fajita spice. My wife had the fajita salad, reported the veggies were fresher than most and flavor was perfectly balanced. Service was attentive and courteous. We ate on the deck, but the interior looks brought, clean and attractive. We will definitely be back and probably soon! read more

This place is so good! I can't say whether or not it's authentic Mexican food, but it definitely wasn't smothered in cheese like at many other Mexican places in the area. We went out to celebrate our 294th month anniversary. Because of our schedules, we went out late. We arrived at Agave Azul 45 minutes before closing on a Tuesday night. There was one couple in the bar and no one in the dining room. We had the whole place to ourselves. The quality of the food was very good and the server was friendly, patient and informative. Neither of us had the fish tacos, which several of our friends have raved about. Perhaps that's what I'll have on the next time we visit here. There will definitely be a next time. read more

We had never been here before but have heard about it. The restaurant was really busy so we sat in the bar. We got seated and they got our drink orders quickly. the drinks were strong,and affordable. My husband ordered the shrimp fajitas and they were very good and fresh. I ordered the carne asada and it was delicious however overcooked (well done and a little chewy) however I am not picky so I was happy and cut them up into my tortillas. Dinner was delicious! The bar ambience was more enjoyable and quiet than main restaurant. We will go back! read more

Met a friend I hadn't seen in 10 years. We sat in the bar, had great service. The food and the margaritas were first class. Was a little taken back by the location but once inside just loved it. Will go back whenever in the area. We had Cadillac Margaritas, chile rellanos, tortilla soup and cheese enchiladas. All were delicious. Uber salty chicken!! Be prepared to drink lots of water and if you have high blood pressure be sure to definitely take your pills prior to eating here. The waitress was really nice though. Great service, and clean establishment. read more

Well it isn't your boring regular Mexican menu but it isn't the best I ever had either. Usually when I eat at Mexican restaurants I am overly stuffed at the end. I have never eaten dessert in a Mexican restaurant. I was able to try it at this restaurant. I had a porkchop plate which was different but not super good. Jess had a pretty good enchilada and Joe loved his Arroz con Pollo. We tried a deep fried ice cream which was really just super frozen vanilla ice cream with corn flakes stuck all over it. read more

Great food and nice service. Very small dining area but it feels very cozy. This is the best Mexican food I've had in the Gresham area.

My girlfriend and i have been in here a few times now. We have always got friendly service by great smiling employees. This small "village setting" atmosphere brings me back to my great grandmas warm home mexican cooking. I tried this place after reading the raving reviews. I must say, the place is small and inviting. The environment inside was cozy, I really appreciated the warm yellow tones. I was very impressed with the service as well. If you go here and don't try the margaritas you are making a mistake. Delicious. I will be returning soon to try a different entree however, mine was definitely good, but I would rate it 3 stars. I ordered the fajitas. They arrived in a timely manner at the table sizzling and steaming. I was left wanting more from the flavors, and the beef really could have been a little more tender. There was definitely a lot of food, but it ended up being the kind of leftovers that I threw out the next morning. Presentation gets a pat on the back, the rest of the dish leaves me wanting a little more. read more

We've been going to this place for a couple of years. The food is actually better than most of the resturants in southern Baja. Chile Rellenos that melt in your mouth, none of that drown it in cheese to give it some flavor crap going on here. It's simply the best, especially for the price. read more
