We shared the the fish taco dish and the jarocho. They were both delicious AND GLUTEN FREE! There was a greater variety of foods available than I've seen at other Mexican restaurants. The atmosphere put you in the right frame if mind to be eating Mexican food, including showing a line of Jarritos soda bottles and the various flavors. Adding to the ambiance were the multiple TVs showing a futbol match. The service was good, but a little slow. In their defense, the place was busy, so, to be honest, the service was good.

The caramel syrup is already sweet... You can also tell whoever makes the flan does not know how to make flan. Flan should be smooth and silky. It can be light or also more rich and velvety. This one had so many air bubbles that it gave me such a feeling of concern with every bite. Either the water from the water bath used in the oven spilled over or the temperature was too high that it caused the flan to boil. And then the final straw was the electronic fee... I'm not from around here but is this normal? It makes me wonder if this is something they should disclose or tack on to their food prices... Yeah I just did not feel it with this restaurant... Two ounce cups of salsa and sour cream were served on the side, and additional sauces (hot and mild) were on the table. Our burritos reminded me of the ones I make at home when I'm scrounging around the fridge to use up left over meat, refried beans, cheese and veggies. Even though the ingredients were casually tossed together and rolled up in a tortilla, and though it was not particularly attractive on the plate, the taste was fine, the quantity was ample, and our hunger was sated. I doubt that I'll come back specifically for the food -- but the location is convenient (right on US 51), the bartender/server was friendly, the kitchen was efficient, the price point was acceptable, and the food was satisfactory, so when it fits my needs, I'll come back.
