We came here after a Riders game because it's next door to our hotel. The atmosphere smacked us in the face first off and excited our entire party. Then as we started to thaw we started to smell the enticing food scent coming from the kitchen. The art on the walls had our preteen boys ooh and awing while we waited to be served. The staff brought out our food fairly quickly considering 3 or 4 big groups had come in post game. Then we got to taste it. And the drooling began. My BIL who has been fortunate enough to have authentic Mexican food in Mexico was raving about how close to the stuff he remembered it was. We all wolfed down our dishes. The burger is spicy and I don't recommend it for kids but the nachos and the skillets were to die for. The staff was so friendly and polite. I really wished I'd taken photos. My husband and I were traveling from AK to SC, we were in Regina for the evening. Luckily we caught Agave before they closed. They had a fajita special that was AMAZING. It did however lack in meat a little, but the flavor was so delicious. The server was really kind. The atmosphere seemed like a place I would enjoy hanging out in, had I had more time. If I were in the area again, I would definitely visit Agave again to try additional dishes. read more

I am from Florida. And this place was so ekkk. I have had some good Mexican food. This is not. The chips and salsa came on a small bowl with salsa that tasted like it came from a jar. Guacamole tasted frozen and not fresh. The beef skillet I got was not even edible. Cheese hardened. No flavor. They didn't even offer to take it off the bill. Should've just left after the joke of chips and salsa. We also had Chile relleno. Was covered in what tasted Like Ragu sauce/marinara sauce. Def not the normal traditional Mexican dish. Do not recommend. Wish I would've left. Such a waste of our hard earned money. read more

I was excited to try this restaurant and I had the opportunity to go for lunch today and what do you know - it's Taco Tuesday! We were seated immediately and service was very attentive. Our server informed us of the specials. Todays was $25 for 5 mini tacos. There was a beer special as well but we were not drinking. They bring three small salsas/verdes to the table and some light chips. We both tried the 5 taco special for our lunch. I had the chicken tinga, the al pastor, and the shrimp tacos. All were super messy to eat and filled with flavor. I do think $25 for lunch is pricey, but it was tasty. This place is worth a try. read more

Every dish was authentically Mexican and fresh, it took us back to our vacation memories instantly! We are going to be recommending this place to all of our friends. We ordered the tacos- Carnitas, Cochinita Pibil, Pastor, and the Beef Alambre. After filling up on the free crunchy rings and the appie of chips and guac that we ordered, neither of us could finish our meals. We are not light eaters. Next time we're going to order the skillet and two tacos and then if I need one, for my 3rd taco I'll take some of his skillet! read more

As a lifetime Regina resident. born and raised, there have been very few opportunities to sample authentic Mexican fare. So when Agave opened up shop, I was immediately thrilled to hear the rave reviews it was getting. Last night I finally had the opportunity for a visit . Let me state from the outset, I have spent many years in tbe foodservice industry and have made about half a dozen visits to Mexico, mostly eating off the beaten path, eating at places patronized more by locals and less by tourists...so my standards and expectations are relatively high. In case you don't want to read the entire review Agave is mediocre at best....If I had to score it out of 5 I would give it a solid 3.5. Agave is a BIG restaurant, It occupies the space that used to be the former Press Box, so there is no feeling claustrophobic. We were seated immediately, but it took awhile for the waitress to arrive When she did, she assumed we were familiar with accessing the online menu, which we were not and had to ask for old school paper menus. She also never brought water to our table, which I take as a given for even the most basic full service restaurant. I was annoyed a fair bit as we waited about 10 minutes for her arrival and were quite parched by the time she got around to taking our drink orders. The decor is decent, a bit kitchy but it's a decent vibe overall. We were offered what was called "Homemade" cheecharones basically pork rinds but they tasted nothing like any cheecharones I had ever tasted here or in Mexico and very similar to a puffed gluten free chip like product I buy from the supermarket when I'm trying to be healthy. So I wasn't buying the homemade thing, but we were hungry and with the 3 sauces offered it was something to put into our stomachs. The menu has a wide array of all the dishes you would expect to find in an authentic Mexican restaurant. Tbere was only one dish using a mole sauce, which if you have ever had in Mexico is heaven on earth but takes about 2-3 days to prepare properly. Overall the food was decent at best. if you are familiar with authentic Mexican fare. If your not which one of my guests was not you will really enjoy it and learn tbere is much more to Mexican food than a Taco Time burrito. It's pricey, I'll say that. but like the restaurant itself,the portions are large and you get your moneys worth. We all left fully satiated. The waitress did manage to redeem herself by being prompt and friendly and she did eventually bring water when asked. Is it authentic??? Well kinda yes kinda no. There are definitely things missing and some things on the menu that left me bewildered but what we did have by all accounts was tasty and delicious, the beans and rice sides could use some work and Caesar salad as a side option is a total miss it can be replaced by at least a half dozen other side dishes more appropriate for a place stating it serves authentic Mexican cuisine. Will I go back, maybe. It's a step up from what Regina has had for Mexican food, I'll say that. Was I expecting more? Yeah kinda. Overall a reasonably pleasant dining experience. 3.5 out of 5 as I feel most people will enjoy eating here. read more

I've been to Agave twice and both times had excellent service by the same server, all staff is sweet and welcoming and the food is amazing. I like ordering the plate with pulled beef and the heavenly tortillas that you can make on your own with what comes on the plate. If I could give a negative, I would. Wonderful decor tho. But if you know your Mexican food don't waste your money. Seriously. Salsa was store bought. No flavor what so ever.
