Let me start by saying, Myong is a nice woman. I've visited her business 4xs, 2 were on the same day due to my cut being crooked and returning to have it fixed. Update, Informed my fault for not staying to have it styled before heading home to shower off cut hair and dress for my interview. Maybe I've been lucky in the past? I rarely stay for a style with any hairdresser and haven't had that issue in the past. So my last and final visit, very disappointing. Short version, do not go for a body wave, "S" waves, beach wave.. whatever you call it - you'll leave with a 70s spiral curly perm instead. Just horrible. Not sure how my request was misunderstood, I was clear - I want nothing any tighter than my natural wave - even took pictures and clarified multiple times to make sure. But alas, I got a curly perm. Is my hair treated? Yes, I have highlights on the top layer and she does a good job with color. However, 70% of my natural, untouched light brown hair - I shit you not - is now copper penny red bc the perm chemicals were on my head for OVER TWO HOURS. Am I a moron for allowing it - YES! I was told that 2 - 3 hours was normal bc it's a Korean perm and takes longer / was less damaging. I complained my head felt warm, smelled funny. She checked it. Said no wave - more time was needed. My bad for not insisting it was washed out. I'm sure if washed out earlier, I would have had the wave I asked for over the curly perm I got. Again, nice lady. Was happy with highlights I had gotten 2x. Prices are reasonable. First cut great, not so happy with last. Do not recommend for permanents. read more

4.5 years later and I'm back to update my review. I was in the DFW area for a business trip and was due for a trim. Was super excited to see Myong still had her salon here. To this day, no one has don't such an excellent job on getting rid of my split ends. My hair has continued to grow long since I last saw her in 2014. Of course I've had trims since, but I always leave feeling like all they did was take an inch or so off my hair and my split ends were still throughout (even with expensive "master stylists"). My hair is now about to my hips (and I'm 5'10"). Myong only took about a half inch of my length and went through all of my hair so thoroughly. It feels so healthy!!! Myong is truly a master at what she does! I have thick curly hair that I hadn't cut in almost a year. I cut about 6 inches off & hated the length & lack of style I was left with. A week later I found Myong on Yelp & set up an appointment. I decided I wanted a shoulder length bob! It was the shortest I have ever had my hair & I was very nervous. I showed her pictures of what I did & didn't want but I hardly had to elaborate because she was so knowledgeable & knew exactly what I wanted! She is very personable, sweet, & funny & we chatted the entire time! Once she was finished with my cut, she talked to me for about 10-15 minutes on how I could manage my hair myself at home. She gave me so many good tips on how to style my hair curly, straight, with a blow dryer, hair straighter, natural styles for my hair, etc! Once it was all finished I was in utter shock. I loved my hair more than I have ever loved any cut I've ever received! She took her time & didn't rush & didn't pressure me to buy any products for my hair. She is amazing at what she does & you can clearly see her passion in her work! I cannot wait to go back in a couple weeks so that I can have her color my hair next! I will be a lifelong client now! I like my hair on the shorter side which can be tricky to cut right, but Myong knows how to cut hair in a way that accentuates the person's best facial features. I receive a lot of compliments on my hair, which didn't really happen until I started going to her. I recently got my hair highlighted and cut from Myong and let me say how much I love the job that she did. I debated on leaving this review because I think Myong is really nice and I enjoyed my experience while I was there. I found her through her great Yelp reviews and I wanted to leave an honest review because I think that it will be helpful for other people. I got the haircut and after washing and drying my hair myself, I realized that the haircut (a simple bob) was ridiculously uneven. There was an entire section that was just lobbed off at one length while the rest of the hair was blended and layered. I went back for her to fix it and it was a least a little manageable. The haircut she gave me was not a bob at all and it did not resemble the pictures that I showed her. I fought with my hair every day until I got another cut. I even had to wait longer so that it could grow out a little and I could get someone else to fix it. My new stylist had to cut it quite a bit shorter than I wanted it in order to undo the haircut I got from her. Myong is a lovely person. She is very nice and personable. I am sure that she has given many great haircuts to other people but mine was not one of them. read more
