Driver super nice and conscientious about tying down my vehicle and driving safely. I would call this company again.

The rudest company! I called for a quote for a tow. You have to know what something cost so they don't charge you $500. I gave the guy the addresses and he said "good luck and have fun"! Then hung up on me! What the heck? I called back confused why someone would hang up. The guy from Affordable tow told me to call someone else and hung up on me again! Who does that?! No wonder why they have such bad reviews. Enough bad reviews and experience, no one will use them. Yes! Call someone else! I did, and they are coming in 30 mins, gave me a nice quote and good customer service. Affordable Towing is the rudest company ever! just look at the reviews. UPDATE: When the other tow company picked up my car today, I told him about the rude experience I had with "another tow company". He asked "was it Affordable Towing?". I said "YES! how did you know?" I wish I could rate them negative stars. They are a rip-off! They charged $200 for a tow, never showed up, charged the card anyway, and refused to cancel it. I called AAA and got one full year of membership AAA plus, with the emergency service for under $99, including the tow. Seven hours and they never showed up. read more

I give these guys a negative-5 stars. I called them at 1030 last night on April 16th. Told the dispatcher I broke down over on north shore and need to go to waipahu and had my family in the car and needed a tow. The dispatcher said No not my problem and hung up with no explanation on why he won't come to my location. How can you post on your website that you are open 24hrs and go anywhere then Dont bad business, and poor customer service. I will be filing a report to the better business bureau. After making us wait over 2 hours they then decided they would not tow my boyfriends car and stated some ridiculous excuse. Called another company and they towed it for us, no problems, for half the cost of what Affordable towing was asking. Now to make sure with the bank the transaction never went through. Quick to charge the card but not to do the work. I should have read the reviews first cause any owner who comes on here and belittles people in the comments obviously has issues. read more

Regretting not reading reviews before hand.. This is regarding the mechanic repair service, not the towing service.. although I'm convinced the results and outcome would be very similar as they are operated by the same people. So after taking my vehicle in for a diagnostic scan to source out a noise coming from the engine compartment, one week later (I was told a day) I received the diagnosis; apparently I had a dead lifter and low compression on two cylinders and needed a complete head rebuild for $3,500- $4,000 plus $800 for the outsourced machine shop. I found this interesting as one, it was a Toyota (outstanding reputation in quality and craftsmanship) and two, with only 130k miles there should be no issues with lifters\valves unless the engine has had some trauma or been abused, which it had not. I do have some mechanical knowledge (my father is a mechanic) and with our combined research into the issue and the otherwise excellent performance of the vehicle, we felt the noise (an intermittent rattle) to be the effect of something less severe. So I contacted the shop and stated that I would be coming in to pick up my vehicle to take it for a second opinion. When I arrived I was greeted graciously by the undernourished, under-cared for and unnerved pit bull locked in a 3'x4' concrete floor pen standing in it's own feces. The mechanic handed me my keys only for me to discover that my battery had been drained dead (it never fully recovered and I ended up purchasing a new one). After getting a boost and while said mechanic was removing the jumper cables I noted a significant amount of engine oil pooled on top of the engine (there was none prior) to which he stated, "oh you developed an oil leak". I see. I also noted that one of the bolts in the valve cover had been freshly snapped to which he replied, "that was like that..". Roger. From here I paid my $850 diagnosis bill (??) and ran like hell. The second mechanic, a mobile mechanic I discovered on Craigslist, Chris, came to my house the following day and upon firing the engine and within 30 seconds stated flatly, "you have a bad timing belt tensioner". Indeed the timing belt was slapping against the cover creating the noise. So I had Chris install a new timing belt, timing belt tensioner, water pump, cam seals and valve cover gaskets (the oil leak I "developed" was a result of the Affordable Auto mechanic neglecting to properly reinstall the valve cover gasket). Chris did it all in an afternoon the the total bill was $600. My vehicle purrs like a kitten once again and I will never darken the doorway of 151 Puuhale again. All the best to you. I checked with 5 other towing companies and they did not understand why the truck wasnt put back together either. When they found out what company it was they all said "oh, that's no surprise. If you take it apart, you put it back together." I have found an awesome mechanic who not only put it back together for free but also helped to save costs by shopping around for parts. read more

I'm lucky I didn't read any reviews on Affordable Towing before calling them. I'm a Driver's Ed Instructor, I was in desperate need of having an instructor brake installed in my new car. My older car needed the hybrid battery replaced so I could no longer use it. I cannot drive without and instructor brake so I was short on time. The place that installed my two brakes prior had gone out of business. Another instructor brake installer refused to install the brake because my car is a hybrid and he didn't want to take the risk of drilling into a power line even though I had the schematics from Toyota to show him. I started calling all auto shops that did fender repair, fabrication etc. After about 10 calls, I called Affordable Towing. Their website show they do fabrications. I spoke briefly with Scott on the phone and he said to bring it down to take a look. I brought the old car down to see how it was installed and he estimated a couple of hours to install. Scott was very helpful and courteous. By the end of the next day, my car was finished. They were about to close but either Nancy or Jenn offered to stay late so I could come down. As I got there, there was a Pitbull of some type that greeted me. I was a bit taken a back but after a few moments, it was like we were old friends. Great mascot for the office! I met the owner Devin who finalized the invoice for me. He was friendly and made some small talk about business before I made payment. I never thought to check yelp.com, which I normally would do. I think if I had checked, I may not have called them and possibly delayed getting my brake installed. That's my experience with them for what its worth. read more

These assholes kept us waiting for 3 hours while we slowly sank further into the mud. When they finally showed up and rigged our machine, the cable broke, so they packed up their truck and left us without a word. WTF? Who r these people? i had to run through the mud and chase them down to ask them WTF? and then they demanded $4500. to pull us out, and said they would have to drive back to honolulu for more cable, another 1 1/2 hours. My boss paid them because we had to get out, but there's not a chance in Hell I would ever give these people my money. Surely they have gotten away with this before. This company will STEAL your car. My son had an accident and someone told him Affordable was a good company. The tow truck driver told him it would be $150 for the tow and $25 a day storage. He went there on day 2 and was told it cost $300 for the tow, a $90 cleanup fee, $50 a day storage and a $35 gate fee to get to the car.. He went there thinking it would cost $200 but it was actually $525. He had only $300 and was unable to get it. It was Friday so they told him it would cost another $150 to pick it up on Monday. He paid the $35 gate fee that day to get in to get his possessions out of the car. Now they are threatening him and are putting a lean against the title. It might be theirs now but they can figure out how to get the title. They prey on people and it should be a crime. read more

Hands down the worst customer service I've ever received. Called to confirm that my insurance company had called them and that a tow truck was coming. The person that answered the phone was so rude and told me he wasn't going to come because he needs to be paid first and my insurance company hadn't confirmed payment yet and hung up. Got a confirmation call from my insurance company that Affordable Towing was coming so again I called and the same person answered the phone and after realizing it was me again confirming my tow truck, he yelled and said "NO ONE'S COMING" and hung up. How unprofessional could you possibly be? Would never recommend this company in any way. I needed to remove a loaded 20ft. container that was on the ground within two days. I reached out to a few companies that I normally work with and their machines were down or they were unable to remove and transport a loaded 20ft. container on the ground without chassis. It was miserable and I thought I wouldn't be able to make the pick up deadline. So my assistant helped me google and found Affordable Towing Service. I called and explained my situation to Devin, and to my surprise.. he said he was able to do it and literally at an affordable rate. I found out we were able to move the deadline to next week, so I called Devin back and rescheduled to the following week. He meet me on site and he picked up the container and transported it to our destination. Thank you so much for your help!! I'll be sure to let anyone who needs towing service know, to contact you! DON'T EVER CALL THIS COMPANY OR GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS! NOT FOR TOWING AND CERTAINLY NOT FOR REPAIRS! Now that I got that out of the way, you can read my nightmare dealing with this company below. My transmission gave out on me this past Sunday and after calling around for a bit, I finally got in touch with Devin from Affordable Towing. I had intended on towing my truck to Firestone, but he told me that Firestone didn't work on transmissions and that Affordable Towing had a "full-service" shop and that they could look at my transmission. As it was late in the afternoon and I realized that not many places would be open on Sunday, I agreed to have my truck towed to Affordable Towing. Devin (who I later found out is the owner of this customer service marvel)said that they would look at my truck and give me a call the next day to let me know what was wrong, never once telling me that I would be charged for any diagnostics. When i heard back from him the next day, he told me that the transmission needed to be replaced. I asked about possibly getting a re-built one, but he said that there was some "computer chip" in my transmission and that it I could only get a new transmission. He told me that the local dealers were expensive and that he needed to call one of his contacts in the mainland to see if he could get a cheaper price and call me the next day. Needless to say, I was beginning to get concerned. When Devin called the next day, he told me the price for a new transmission would be $6500. Add in the labor and it would be $9500 total!!!!!!!. $9500 for a truck that's has a blue-book value of $10,000. When I told him there was no way I was going to pay that much, he offered to give me $1,000 for my truck. Talk about an insult. Needless to say, I realized what kind of person and shop I was dealing with. I began looking for a legitimate transmission shop and spoke to a friend who recommended I take my truck to All Trans in Mapunapuna. He said they were fair, did good work and would give me an honest estimate. After 30 seconds of speaking with the people from All Trans, I knew I had made the wrong choice from the beginning. (As an FYI, All Trans is charging me half of what Affordable was trying to charge me). When I called Affordable Towing to have them tow my truck to All Trans and to get my bill, Devin told me that I would have to call back later as the lady that ran the office was out. When I tried to ask another question, he told me to "call back later" and hung up. At this point, all I wanted was to get my truck out of there. I called back later and reached the lady in the office. I asked her to have my truck towed to All Trans and asked for my bill. I already knew that the tow charges would be high as I would expect nothing less from a place like this, so when she told me it was $350 to tow my truck a total or 3.3 miles, I wasn't surprised. The real shock came when she told me what the rest of my charges were. The lady told me that my bill, including the towing was $1420. After pulling myself back up from the floor, I asked her what the additional $1070 was for. These people had the gall to say that it took 8 hours to diagnose my transmission problems. 8 hours!!! It only took All Trans about an hour to make the exact same diagnosis. As you can imagine, I would NEVER, EVER USE THIS COMPANY again. Not only did they try and over-charge me for a new transmission and labor, but they never once gave me a quote or estimate on the diagnostic charges before doing any "work". On a personal note, to the owner of this company. This is a very small island and when you don't do business the right way and blatantly rip people off, word gets around quickly. How many people do you think I've already told this story to? How many more do you think will read this Review and choose to do business elsewhere? read more

If I could give them negative stars I would!!! I called Affordable tow company and needed a tow from point A to point B, they needed a credit card on file for the tow. (Which was fine). I called back and changed to a closer location, point C. I then realized I couldn't meet them and called back to cancel. Shortly there after they called back and stated that the tow truck driver was at location A to take the vehicle to location C. I explained I clef and cancelled, they stated they don't remember a call and need to charge my card for the tow regardless if they tow or not. This was not explained to me previous when I gave my credit card info. I explained I needed to speak to their manager at which point they hung up on me. I called back and stated I need to speak to a manager and asked why they hung up on me. She stated she needed to take other calls. Unbelievable. I explained I would have them investigated and have the charge disputed with my credit card company. I find it very shady and low to charge someone for a service that wasn't rendered. Called for a tow from Kaimuki to Ala Moana, a total of 3.1 miles, and they quoted me a price of $267.00. Are you kidding me? I would push it for that. Instead I used Budget Towing to be towed from Kaimuki to JN Automotive by the airport for $110.00. Affordable Towing has a lot of nerve calling themselves Affordable. We called them yesterday, March 13th, to get a tow from Mililani to kalihi. They said it would be $300+tax. Ok, we were desperate so fine, we would pay that. They said the needed a card number for files and wouldn't charge until after the tow. Sounds fair, right? Well the cops showed up with their tow truck first, so we called to cancel. Everything seemed fine, and they said they wouldn't charge. Well when we got to our destination, my boyfriend, called Affordable Towing again. We just wanted confirmation that they wouldn't charge because we saw it on our mobile banking statement. Well when he called back and spoke to Patrick, Patrick said that he would email the cancellation confirmation to us. Ok we gave him the email address. We kept waiting for it to come, it never did. So I called them back and spoke to John. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! I explained the situation to him and he cut me off and said "oh, we don't do emails" so I asked him why Patrick would say that. All he could do is tell me " I just said we don't do emails." At this point, ok well I just want to get my money back. He said that it takes 10 days for the money. How does it take 10 days!? I work for the bank that they took the money from. John said "it's not us, it's your bank" no it's not. At this point I'm upset, not only didn't john say that it takes this long but he said that he wasn't going to cancel the transaction. I was getting more and more upset. So I asked him if I could speak to a manager and he said there weren't any there. I asked to speak to someone else and he said that he's the only one there. John had the nerve to call me DUMB AND A BITCH. That's not cool. No matter who you are. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS TOWING COMPANY TO ANYONE!!!! untrustworthy scammers, do not leave your vehicle for an 'estimate' unless you have a very large bank account, 'carte blanche' works best for them. i was shocked at a $2300 bill just to complete an estimate for the $600 repairs ($2900 total), owner gave me loud, angry response i asked why so much, hung up on me, had office lady call me, initially called me a 'case' not a customer, took over 3 weeks of hostage negotiations and a cashiers check to finally rescue my company truck, still not fixed but fully paid for like it was only recieved full tilt rude every call with them, playing games with my time, truly the worst customer service i've had in over 30 years in business on oahu. golden rule, treat others as you like yo be treated? wow, they must like some serious abuse, too weird for me, angry people like these would ruin a nice aloha-filled day for anyone. avoid at all costs, unless you're rich and like abuse... take your time, fellow nice people, try someone else. read more

The customer service that I had over the phone was one of the worst I have ever experienced. I won't recommend calling him.

In April 2015, Affordable Towing picked up our Honda Odyssey. The transmission revved, the check engine light was on, the a/c did not work and the passenger side window was only working sometimes. They worked on the vehicle and charged us $3,547.77. The only thing that was fixed was the transmission, which still bucks occasionally but is better. The a/c lasted for a day and the check engine light came back on in a day too. The window seemed to be okay. In October, we brought the Odyssey back because the window had stopped working. We asked them to look at it again and give us an estimate. The estimate was for $2,169.22, and since we had just paid him $7,426.06 to fix our Jeep Grand Wagoneer (another story, coming soon), we decided to leave the van the way it was. When we went to get the van, we got an invoice for $408.38 for looking at the door and a/c, even though they were looked at previously. They told us we could not get it back until we paid them. Beforehand, they would tell us if they were going to charge us for anything. This time they did not and we were floored. During the conversation, Devin got so irate that he threatened to call the police. The Wagoneer was brought to Affordable Towing in May. I wanted some things changed out on it. Once we paid the bill and left, new issues started occurring. The engine would shut off in the middle of traffic. After the eleventh time, in two days, we brought it back, the same day we were picking up the Odyssey. With all that going on, we did not want Devin to mess with it again so we took the Jeep to an ASE Certified mechanic. He said that they may have damaged the engine as it was running lean. He also said that the prices charged for parts were outrageous and that we should call auto supply shops and compare. We did and the items they had were marked up between 50 to 200 percent more. He also told us that the amount of labor charged for the job was prohibitive. After finding all of this out, we stopped payment on both checks we had written to them. I emailed many times and asked for invoices of what Devin had paid for parts and told them that we would pay him for that and a lawful assessment of his labor cost. Devin refuses to produce the invoices. We do not even know if a certified mechanic worked on our Jeep. We believe this is consumer fraud and have noticed other complaints filed against them as well as a myriad of bad reviews on Yelp. We hope he will produce the invoices as we want to put this experience and Affordable Towing behind us. read more

1st of all this tow company gives you an estimate of one price and then completely changes the price once the job is done. they told me 300 for the tow and then call back and say 550 and then when it was done 800. when confronted the owner told me to go screw myself. not professional at all. would not recommend this company to anyone. My car stalled in Honolulu 4 days ago due to alternator problems. A kind mechanic worked without success for 4 hrs but I was given the wrong part. I have a mechanic that will work on my car but it has to be towed to the Windward side for him to work on it. My insurance does not cover a 2nd towing so I was looking at huge costs, including renting a vehicle, towing costs and paying another mechanic. After calling several towing services, I spoke to Affordable Towing Service. This was truly a God-sent. After explaining my situation to Devin, the owner of this company, he sympathized with my situation. Due to the problems I had already suffered, he offered a huge discount to get my vehicle from the Honolulu side to the Windward side. I am so blessed to have found this company and Devin. I will refer this company to my friends and family for this company was the only one that came to my aid when all doors seemed closed. read more

He said he's not interested and when asked what he meant, acted really rude and ended the conversation with saying I'm beating a dead horse and hung up. Apparently this person doesn't realize it's a business and that there are certain ways you shouldn't talk to potential customers. When I asked for a price quote the response was typical he said the need to know what kind of car it was, where it was located and where it needed to go. In response I said ok would you like me to tell you what kind of car it is first. To this the man on the phone said "bye" and rudely hung up on me. I was so put off by this experience.
