The people are nice but they're terrible with communication. Someone at the front desk told me my insurance would cover my appointment to have two moles removed. A week went by and two days before the appointment they decided to call me and let me know it was gonna be a 400.00 out of pocket charge on the day of the surgery. So being unprepared of course I can't do it. So now i just get to cross my fingers and hope these spots don't turn into cancer. Thanks guys. read more

I would give them 0 stars. Christine Lin who claims to be family dermatology accepted an appointment for my newborn son for facial lesion only to say we should see a pediatric specific dermatologist! She looked at his face, took a picture, and billed! What a waste of our time and risk of possible Covid exposure. Should do patient screening including age and reason for visit prior to booking. Waited 2 months for his appointment and now we still need to see someone else! Do not recommend taking children there. read more

I had a simple procedure done here, that I've had done multiple times. I had a physician do the exact same procedure with no problems, he wasn't even a dermatologist. I went here and had the same procedure done, the pain I experienced from this simple procedure was like no other. Not to to mention the severe scarring on my face arms and neck. I don't know how this place is even open. I wish I could give negative stars. This was either my 4th or 5th visit to AD at the Gilbert office and it will be my last. Each time was worse than the first. They bounced me around between FOUR different nurses (not even doctors) in the short time I was there (two of them apparently left the company). The first time I saw Kim Boerner and she was ok but flew through my appointments, she spoke so fast that I didn't even fully understand what she was saying about my conditions and what they're called. When I asked her to repeat it because she spoke so fast, she wrote down the names of my conditions and actually told me to "look it up." She also ordered some bloodwork for me and I wasn't given paperwork and neither was the lab, and I called nearly 15 times both to try to simply get ahold of the paperwork and to see if they had results in, which apparently they lost. I should have known to switch doctors at that time. The second person was Sean whose last day happened to be that same day. He blazed through the appointment and I was barely able to ask any questions (since I didn't get to ask any the first time). And he prescribed a bunch of medication and gave me samples without explaining to me what half of them were. Then I told him my hair had been falling out excessively and when I showed him a zip lock bag nearly filled to the top with hair I lost just in one day, he brushed it off and actually told me that "it's not a big deal" and even caught himself saying it and said he "didn't mean it." The third person was Erin Conway I think was her name, she was incredibly dismissive of all of my skin conditions and when I asked if I could ask a quick yes or no question about a different issue she said "it's one issue per appointment but sure." I was so put off that I just said nevermind. Then the other day I saw Stephanie Porter since the same three issues (which I've had for 3 years now) have not improved despite the topicals and antibiotics I was repeatedly prescribed and despite me telling all 3 previous doctors they weren't working. I told her I wanted to try accutane since I've read multiple times that it has been prescribed for all three of my conditions before with proven success. After telling her I was certain I wanted to start it, She flat out persisted that I thought about it first and didn't want me to start it yet, and wanted me to wait until my next visit in 5 WEEKS to decide. To which I then would have to wait another 4 weeks to begin the medication, meaning waiting a total Of over 2 months to begin the medication. I politely explained to her that I was sure I wanted to start it and that although she was just introduced To me and my conditions, I've been dealing with these diseases for nearly 3 years without improvement and didn't want to waste more time. I told her several times that I've been using everything that she wanted to prescribe me already for nearly a year with almost no improvement, which is why I wanted to start the accutane. She then insisted I continue to use the same medication that I've been using for the past year THAT HAS DONE NOTHING FOR ME, which I emphasized multiple time. So it's incredibly rude to dismiss my needs and experience, to say let's wait 2 months before we try something that could actually work just because it doesn't seem that long to her since she's new to me and my situation meanwhile I've been dealing with this hell for 3 years, and to disregard what I'm saying about the medications not working and to insist I continue using those same non successful medications. I am beyond livid with this place and the nightmare experience I've had. I don't know if the nurses they hire are just awful nurses or if the practice encourages this type of behavior. My mom and sister also go here for dermatology appointments, facial treatments, and botox, and after I told them about my experience they will not be returning. Go anywhere but affiliated dermatology. read more

Had a biopsy done on two spots on my upper thighs, one came out with Melanocytic Nevus, intradermal, waited 4 months to get a report from these people. Did the biopsy on 9/5/19 and today 12/17/19, I finally went in to ask for the pathology report and collect all my medical records. No one bother to follow up. The person who did the biopsy was, Stephanie Porter NP R. This place is more into cosmetic procedures then offering any real form of dermatology. Will be reporting them to my health insurance provider for not following through on their end to get me the results of my test. This was the second chance. The first time I did chemo which was back around Feb. of 2018 (I waited to do the chemo until it was winter, didn't want to do it during the summer time where I couldn't completely cover up to protect my body from the sun, Sean told me his assistant should have provided me a sheet of paper telling me what to expect. After calling his assistant on 3 different days asking for Sean to call something in for the ulcers in my mouth, which formed as a result of the chemo, his assistant failed to communicate how much pain I was in or that I had even called. I got so sick from the lotion I was applying to my lower legs and even lost a lot of hair as a result of it. Sean finally called me on the 4th day, said rarely do people get this sick, yet there was an employee from work who got as sick as I did from using Fluorouracil Cream, he was sent home from work due to how sick he was, he was vomiting like I was. The PA at that time was Sean Lloyd, who's no longer with them. I blame the assistant from not doing her job or taking her job that seriously. This place is an absolute nightmare, its obvious nothing has changed from the last time I was in there and they shouldn't have the right to call themselves a Dermatology Group. They don't follow up like a real Dermatologist would or take their license and practice that serious. Completely disgusted with them. read more

Trish at Affiliated Detmatology changed my life! I am 35, and I don't want anything drastic, but want to age gracefully. I decided to attack my "angry 11" with some Botox, but I was nervous about looking frozen or strange. Trish was professional, friendly, informative and decisive with the plan, and administered 20 units of Botox right into that terrible crease in my forehead. It's now GONE!!! I am SO impressed with my results. And Trish is so beautiful and she just glows, makes me want to do more to keep Fr. Time in check. I went to this location for my annual check up. There was an issue and I was told that I should have an ultrasound. I went for the ultrasound and waited and waited to hear from them with my results. They never called so finally one week later I called them. First of all, you have to wait on hold for long periods of time every time you call this place. Then once I finally was able to speak to someone they told me my results were normal. I asked for more details and was told that they would have to get back to me. That took another week. Finally the MA called me and when I asked to talk to the PA that ordered the ultrasound they said she quit a few days before. So actually my tests just fell through the cracks. I would not have heard from them if I didn't call them. Once I did speak to the MA she had no idea what she was talking about and was changing my results from normal to not normal to I need to see another doctor. I demanded to speak to a doctor and the office manager called me back with as little knowledge as the MA. I went and picked up my ultrasound results and will NEVER go back to this place ever again. They were the most unprofessional medical staff that I have ever encountered. read more

I purchased their Groupon for Botox. While other offices have regularly said 26 units was the required amount, they insisted a full 40 would be required - over 50% more?! Treatments from other Med Spas have last 5-6 months. Theirs lasted 4-5 WEEKS!! I tried calling and even physically went in on 3 different occasions to talk to them about it. I was told someone would call. I received one call and immediately got disconnected. I asked if I could schedule an appointment to discuss the failed Botox and was told I would be charged. Since then I have seen other reviews accusing them of "watered down Botox" - wish I would have seen those before spending my $$! read more

This place is a wonder of miscommunications, almost like they are trying to not retain patients. Took them one month to get me results they said would take at the most two weeks. Then they wanted to schedule me for surgery and said someone would call me in 48 hours. 2 weeks later it took me to call and have them look over the notes to schedule the surgery....no apology and didn't even address why the miscommunication. (Update 11/26) So I was scheduled for surgery with this company and though they had really not impressed me (see above) I decided the doctor understood where on my back the procedure, I had to book, was to take place and the. I'd be done with this place. Well at 4 am the morning of my procedure, I got a call my father had a heart attack and was in the hospital. I called the Gilbert office at 5am and left a message telling them I wasn't going to make the surgery. Well in their wonderful customer service I received in the mail today a bill for $250 for "No Show fee". I understand they have a 24 hour cancellation policy. Don't understand how they justify $250. Either way I get it I didn't cancel soon enough. I beg you to ask yourself...is this the type of inhuman and greedy kind of treatment you want out of your dermatologist? Thanks Affiliated Derm for all your undertandinand well wishes (sarcasm). Update (12/18/2018) Just an FYI this provider will charge you 1.5% interest on any unpaid bills. I have been going to Affiliated Dermatology in Gilbert for the past 3 years. Due to health issues, I am prone to rapid skin changes, and have probably had 15-20 procedures. I would have lots of reasons not to like Affiliated Dermatology, but from the moment you walk in the door, the staff puts you at ease. Everyone who works there is friendly, professional, and they always take time to explain what they are doing. I usually see Kimberly, who is so great st her job! I have never received worse service from any specialist in any field. I met with Erin Conway today, and arrived 30 minutes early to fill out the new patient forms. Front office staff was nice but blunt. I was the only customer waiting for my appointment, the office wasn't the least bit busy. The nurse who took me back to an exam room was just as disrespectful as Erin was herself. I waited in the exam room for about 10-15 minutes, which wasn't a problem, I was more than happy to wait. Finally, Erin Conway comes in, and is out of the room within four minutes. FOUR. I tried to explain each reason I was there within depth, as I wanted to make sure we could come up with the best solution, but I couldn't get 3 words in edgewise. I kept getting cut off, and NP Erin Conway LITERALLY had her hand on the door handle, standing up, for the duration of the "exam". I have had skin issues that worsened over the last few months, bordering on unbearable. I was so excited to attend this appointment and find a resolution, but I have to say, the lack of respect for a paying customer truly astonished me. read more

This was my first time here and will also be my last. I was waiting for 30 minutes just to get a refill on a prescription. I take birth control for my skin and have been on it long before I was even sexually active and Brenda told me the reason they don't prescribe birth control is because it's to prevent child bearing. But when I went on to say that my primary reason for taking it was for my skin and she said "please don't argue with me" with the most disgusted look on her face. I was in shock like I can understand that was just their policy but by me trying to explain to her the reason why I take it I was "arguing" with her. I paid $45 to wait 30 minutes, be in the room with the doctor for 2 minutes and just to be told I was arguing with her. I was told I was going to be in good hands but this was the worst experience I've ever had in a doctors office lol read more

Unprofessional, non-accommodating. I waited 2 months for this appointment. I was 4 minutes late to my appointment (against anything I could have prevented because my babysitter wasn't at her house on time). I apologized as soon as I walked in and started paperwork. They told me they could no longer see me and would have to reschedule because I was late. I'm super upset, it is extremely difficult for me to get a babysitter and wait this long for an appointment and I explained that to them. I work in the health care field and work with late patients all the time and accommodate it. It's life. If they needed more time for me to do paperwork they should have explained that so I could plan to be in even earlier than my appointment time. I'm so upset, planning a babysitter, paying a babysitter, dropping the child off and driving 30 minutes to the office is a whole day ordeal and 4 minutes late is too much for them to accommodate. It is on me that I was late, but 4 minutes, come on. read more

I am disappointed in Affiliated Dermatology and do not plan to return. I had a mole checked and was (eventually--2 weeks later then they said they would contact me) told that they needed to remove the surrounding skin even though it was NOT pre-cancerous. I went along with their recommendation and scheduled an appointment. However, I was unable to get the actual lab report until the day of the surgery. I was a little leery of the lab report once I saw it because, it appears, the lab is owned and operated by Affiliated Dermatology. From my own research after the fact, I do not believe they needed to do this invasive and expensive surgery. In addition, I never saw an actual M.D. during the three visits I had there but at least expected to see the P.A. when I went in for suture removal so that I could ask some questions. I was told upon sign-in that the P.A. was running behind so there would be a wait. I was finally called in 35 minutes after my appointment time only to be seen by the medical assistant. I asked if I was going to get to see the P.A., as I had been led to believe, and she responded "No, they never do the suture removals". I then asked why I had to wait for 35 minutes then? She had no response. I do not feel the surgery site is looking as good as it should but will find another dermatologist to follow up with my care. read more
