#8 -- mortadella, pesto, pistachio, burrata
    Matt L.

Let me start by saying I'm only a moderate fan of pesto and burrata. I like them, but I'm not one of those people who swoons at their mere mention. I don't seek them out. It was really the mortadella and pistachio that guided me to #8, but it's the pesto and burrata I'll remember. This sandwich was a true delight, rather like munching on a happy Italian cloud. Everything about it was so smooth, creamy, and relaxed. The only unrelaxed part was my voracious attack on it. Added bonus -- you won't feel like you need a nap afterwards. Filling but also light. This is a tiny little store with friendly clerks. You must give it a try!

Still dreaming of the Bread! So delicious, everything about the sandwiches.... Best ingredients. I had the smoked turkey with avocado... I would definitely add peppers next time and skip the mayo. The kids and hubby got a variety of different sandwiches. This will definitely be a must on every trip back to little Italy by case western university , Ohio .

Finally got the chance to try out Affettati and their sandwiches didn't disappoint! I'm not a big fan of cured meats but these sandwiches were really good! Service was quick and everyone was very friendly! We ordered the 1 and 2 and both were similar but different. Bread was soft yet crunchy, meats were good quality and ingredients were fresh!

The entire city is raving about Affettati. It's brand new to CLE's food scene. And so, I really wanted to stop in for a while. Miraculously I found parking in Little Italy on a Sunday afternoon! I finally tried Affettati! Name: Fun fact is Affettati means sliced meats in Italian. Way more charming than our term "cold cuts"! And what a beautiful pronounciation! Location: Affettati is a small charming cafe in the heart of Little Italy. You can find it nestled between Cent Anni and Valerio's. It's everything I'd imagine an Italian cafe to be - brick building, a little balcony overhead, and dainty cafe tables. Food: The menu is uncomplicated. Select your favorite from seven choices on the chalkboard menu. I selected #1 - prosciutto, ricotta, mozzarella, red onion, and arugula. I just can't simply say "no" to prosciutto. The sandwich was on the smaller side but very tasty. You can absolutely taste high-quality ingredients. Sometimes I'm very overwhelmed by the stack of meats on other sandwiches so this was perfect light meal! Every sandwich comes on freshly baked bread baked in house oven. It's very tasty! And so, this is a small batch production based on the amount of bread prepared for the day. I was stunned by the price of $12 which seemed very low. The owner shared that prices will slightly increase soon. Aside from sandwiches you'll find simple drinks like bottled water and Sanpellegrino. There are also tasty looking chocolate chip cookies! Seating: Seating inside is limited. This location is mainly takeaway. There is a small bar with a chair. There are a few small tables available outside. You can also take your sandwich on a walk to a nearby park (Tony Brush Park) or walk around the neighborhood. I just love walking around cobblestone roads in Little Italy, which is exactly what I did after grabbing takeout. Service: Service is friendly and efficient. The owner works solo at the store. My sandwich was made to order, was ready in just minutes. Parking: Street and valet parking is available in the area. Be vigilant about signage. Some areas are designated for residents and valet. I'll definitely return to try all seven sandwiches. The sandwich sizes are especially perfect for summer - light and very well prepared! I recommend that you also check out this charming cafe!

We decided to try the small sandwich shop in little Italy and we were surprised by how much we loved it! I'm not sure if this person is the owner, but the same person has made our sandwiches the three times we have gone there and they are very kind and answered any questions we had. They made the sandwiches pretty quickly and we were in and out in under 10 minutes. The sandwiches are pretty big and very good. My favorite is the #1 and the meat is on the saltier side but it is balanced out very nicely with the other components. The bread is like a thin focaccia which I love. We look forward to continuing to try all the sandwiches!

It's always fun to see a new place in Little Italy, so I was excited to check out Affetati. I split the #4, a portobello mushroom, red pepper and brie sandwich ($12) The bread was perfectly crispy, and I really liked the contrast between the brie and the mushrooms. I will say that the mushrooms were too salty for my taste, but my friend didn't see nothing wrong with it, so YMMV. There's a couple of barstools inside and some seating outside for when the weather is nice, but this is definitely a grab and go type place. I'm looking forward to try the caprese sandwich soon!

#7 smoked turkey, avocado, swiss cheese, bacon, pesto mayo, and arugula

Amazing little sandwich spot that totally hit the spot. The bread was this incredible focaccia-style loaf--soft, flavorful, and perfectly toasted. We had the pesto turkey bacon sandwich, which was absolutely delicious--fresh ingredients and just the right balance of pesto and saltiness from the bacon. My wife and I split one, and it was the perfect afternoon snack for a pair of wandering tourists exploring Cleveland. Definitely worth a stop if you're nearby!

While the staff is great and very attentive the real stars here are the incredible sandwiches. Be prepared to be disappointed with every sandwich you have *after* going here because nothing else measures up to their combination of amazing ingredients, bread right out of the oven, and fresh sliced meats. It is the best sandwich you will ever have. Period. I live 200 miles from Affettati but am seriously considering a road trip just for lunch. It's that good.

Daily selection of made in front of you Italian sandwiches on ciabatta that is fresh made in house. Delicious burrata on my salami and coppa sandwich today ($12). It was two pieces and enough for two small meals! Huge soft chocolate chip cookies for $4. Some sodas also available. Quick hole in the wall with gourmet to go sandwiches and super friendly staff! Not too expensive either. Great spot in town for a huge sandwich.

Some of the best sandwiches in town! They taste like a nice NY pizza crust stuffed with awesome meats and fillings. Had a good conversation with the owner. He seems like a very cool person and had some good tunes playing. The sandwiches are all set up nicely in a grab and go case. Highly recommend coming to Little Italy and having some great Italian sandwiches!

After a brief glance at the menu (and picking up a gummy worm flavored diet mountain dew from their vending machine...), I ordered their Grum Sandwich (7" for $8) without peppers and swapped out the oil for stadium mustard as well as an order of their plain "grumizza" to indulge in for dinner. It was only $2.75!!! How can I resist that?? I am not exaggerating when I say that I would die for this sandwich and I don't know if it was my obsessive ADHD brain talking or not, but it was one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. There was sooooo much meat on there, the spice mix was amazing, and the bread.... woweeee wow, so soft and fluffy and oh my god delicious. AND IT WAS ONLY 8 DOLLARS. The grumizza made for a great dinner as well. Using the same bread as the sandwiches, they loaded it up with sauce, ooey gooey cheese, and that spice mix I love so much. I hit my carb quota for a week in just one day but my god, was it worth it! I should also mention the place was packed and the diligent staff worked very hard to keep up with all the orders and they did a great job! My only suggestion is adding the ability to provide customers with a glass of water. I DEFINITELY will be back!!!

Sande (who is hearing impaired) was having a hard time hearing what I was saying because the music was really loud. It was Jimi Hendrix so at least they had good taste but when I had to repeat my order several times, the employees should have taken a cue that the music was too loud. None of the sandwiches or entrees on the board had prices which I found to be odd... We ordered soup, lasagna slice and stromboli (all of which were pre-made/packaged). They asked twice if we wanted the items heated and we said no twice in return. 15 minutes later, we were still awaiting our order even though were were only 4 patrons in the store the entire time we were there. What was taking so long to put 3, pre-made packaged items in containers and into a bag? Finally I went up to the counter and asked what was taking so long and they said they were still getting things ready (which was a bad sign). Sure enough, when we got the food, they had heated the lasagna and stromboli which was useless because by the time we got back home, it had to be reheated. The stromboli was pretty good. 3.5 stars out of 5 but the lasagna was awful. Not cheesy, almost no sauce and just dry and uninteresting, 1 star. The split pea soup was incredibly salty, 2.5 stars. Overall i'd give them 1 star and we won't be returning.
