Before getting into the food, I just want to shout out the great service here. It's miraculous that the two women and man could staff the front of this whole operation! Great work, brilliantly efficient, friendly and attentive. The food was great. We asked at the start what the staff would recommend between 2 seemingly similar appetizers, and they bluntly said that they really couldn't recommend between them because they were so different. This rang true for every single dish we ordered: even between the lamb skewers and shanks the flavors (and textures from their respective preparations: flame-licked vs. baked further) were wildly different, each packed with unique gamey lamb flavor. Lamb shank portions were on the smaller size (one order is not a meal), while skewers were adequately portioned. The noodle dishes were also remarkable, with textural experiences to pair with tantalizing flavor. We had the cold skin noodles appetizer, for which my wife and I both remarked that we wanted to drink the sauce of after finishing the curious springy yet spongy noodles. The brown sauce laghman was equally delicious, featuring chewy, long, slurpable noodles and quality (not grainy, bony or collagenous like you might get at the grocery store) ground beef. We finished with the homemade yoghurt desert with a generous helping of honey, walnuts and rose, and a purple rice yoghurt drink. Both were tart and refreshing, and a perfect cap to the heavy meat-filled meal we enjoyed.

Afandi Kitchen is a fantastic addition to Chesterfield -- bold flavors, generous portions, and dishes that actually stand out. My absolute favorites were the Laghman noodles, the lamb skewers, and the Uyghur yogurt wraps. The noodles are hand-pulled with great chew and come in a rich tomato-garlic sauce that feels like instant comfort. The skewers are juicy with real grill char, and the yogurt wraps are cool, tangy, and surprisingly addictive. We also tried the Cumin Lamb with Green Leeks. The flavor was great, but it runs spicier than expected, so keep that in mind if you're heat-sensitive. Desserts were a nice surprise -- the rice pudding and the ice-cream sticky rice dumpling were both lightly sweet and memorable. And definitely get the Afandi Special Tea, served in a beautiful pot. Friendly service, quick food, and easily one of the most interesting meals you can get in West County. Must-orders: Laghman, lamb skewers, yogurt wraps.

After my first visit to Afandi Kitchen, it quickly became one of my favorites in town! I was pleasantly surprised to find a Uyghur restaurant in St. Louis and had to check it out. Uyghur food is definitely not your typical Chinese food, and if you like spice, garlic, cumin, and lamb, you'd love it. The restaurant, which is tucked away in one of many shopping areas in Chesterfield, is spacious and well-decorated. The TV is always playing food documentaries that get your appetite worked up before your meal. Although the staff are always busy (which is a good sign), the service has been great each time as well. The food is reasonably priced, generously portioned, and well seasoned. In the 3 times I've visited, I've yet to have had a dish that I was disappointed in. If you've never had Uyghur food and want a good introduction, I'd recommend the Big Plate Chicken, which has juicy, flavorful chicken with potatoes that have soaked up the delicious sauce and is served with hand-pulled, perfectly chewy noodles. If you're less adventurous, you cannot go wrong with Dry Stir-Fried Laghman. I'd describe it as the best version of a chow mein dish that you'd find at a regular Chinese restaurant. PS. You know the food is that good when I, as the person who always says the camera eats first, only have one photo from the restaurant.

Overall service was great with the limit staff amd size of the restaurant. The environment was friendly and bright bring customers into the theme of Afandi Kitchen. The food was spicy and delicious with the option of increasing the spice level of one choices to do so. The only remark for the restaurant was their plates for people to share food with are too small. If you are eating by yourself this isnt a problem but if your with a group sharing meals it becomes a concern.

Afandi Kitchen - Chesterfield, MO Checked out Afandi Kitchen and it did not disappoint. They serve Uyghur food, which is kind of a mix of Chinese and Turkish flavors -- hand-pulled noodles, stir-fries, breads, and bold spices. Definitely something different for St. Louis. The place is modest but cozy, with rugs and art that look pretty authentic. Service was super friendly and attentive. You can do full table service or order at the counter if you're grabbing to-go. What we had: * Pumpkin Sambosa (4/5): Crispy, flaky, and a cool mix of flavors. * Fried Leek Dumpling (5/5): Amazing. Light, crispy, super flavorful. Must order. * Mint Floral Tea w/ Honey (4/5): Beautiful teapot and cups. Tasty and refreshing -- let it steep a few mins. * Stir Fry Naan (3.75/5): Lamb was spot on, naan pieces were good, but overall not my fav. * Dry Stir Fried Laghman (5/5): The dish of the night. Hand-pulled noodles with a mildly spicy sauce and tender beef. So good. * Big Plate Chicken (4.5/5): Huge portion, bone-in chicken, potatoes, peppers, great spice. Delicious. Overall -- really unique spot with great food and friendly vibes. If you're into Asian food and want something new, you should check this place out.

Small Big Chicken Plate

This was my first time hearing about Uyghur cuisine and I'm so glad that it's here in St. Louis for us to try. We ordered the: - Spicy cold noodles - Small big plate chicken - 3 lamb kebobs - 1 house special braised beef burger - Crispy oyster mushrooms - Tripe (not pictured) - Yogurt drink If I were to go back again, I'd order the yogurt drink in mango, crispy oyster mushrooms, spicy cold noodles, and a bigger portion of the Big Plate Chicken! Overall, I wish the portions were a tad bigger, but I loved the bouncy noodles and meats! I could not stop eating the oysters! Service was very quick and they were attentive, even during a very busy dinner hour.

It's not often that I get to try Uyghur cuisine so I was excited to try out Afandi Kitchen, which is in the old location of Urban Kitchen. We tried the hand-pulled dry stir-fried laghman noodles which were so flavorful and wonderfully chewy but came in a pretty small portion. They have a unique selection of drinks and I tried the Afandi purple rice yogurt drink which was a little too tart for me but perhaps that is how it's supposed to be served. We loved the Uyghur grilled steak yogurt wrap and the soft naan bread. I forgot to order the lamb kebab skewers this time but want to come back to try then next time!

Can't believe St. Louis is fancy enough to have a restaurant like this! This is so unique and unlike anything I've ever had before. The yogurt drink is really curdled milk... super unique. The lamb soup was amazing. The chicken with numbing pepper was, well, very spicy but flavorful. Highly recommended for any foodie!!!

Although we had a reservation, it took a good 20 minutes before the server came to take our order. We asked for our appetizers to arrive before our dinner and they arrived at the same time. Also, a couple of people in our party didn't receive their dinner until 10 minutes after the rest of us had ours. Our tea service was also late to arrival and didn't get served to us until we had started eating. Our party of six had a variety of items off the menu. I ordered these stirfry tomatoes with scrambled eggs and the spicy cucumber appetizer. Both of these items were very tasty and I would order them again. I also ordered a lamb kebab, which at $3.59 is a really good deal even though the kebab is rather small. It had a lot of flavor. The interior of the restaurant is no-frills, but the lighting is something to see. They have beautiful lighting in this restaurant. We will definitely be back because the food is great, but I hope that they can get their kitchen and service to work better in sync.

Yogurt drink is just ok.

Get the Laghman, it tastes amazing. We had the brown sauce one and the dry stir-fried. The service is a little slow and the yogurt drinks are just ok. But go in with a leisurely attitude get water to drink and prepare to be blown away by the food. 5+ Star food 4 Star overall experience but if you're on yelp you care about flavor more than anything else so go.

Everything was delicious! Surprisingly they added more stuff to the menu compares to first opened! Love their homemade yogurt!!!! Best yogurt drink ever! The noodle was so good and chewy and the chicken was very flavorful! The appetizer gives a nice kick and also so refreshing! Will definitely come back for more!!

Stewed lamb soup

I'm really loving the diverse Chinese cuisine scene that we are having in the St. Louis area. Afandi Kitchen is offering a unique culinary experience that is not common in the US for Chinese food. They feature cuisine from the Northwestern part of China, known as Xin Jiang which you can find Turkic, Greek and Arabic influences. I ordered a few items that were signature to the region including the house special braised beef burger, stewed lamb soup, Uyghur grilled steak Yogurt wrap, lamb skewers, and the northwest rice noodles. I have to say my favorite is the Northwest rice noodles. I highly recommend you ordering it. The noodles were so chewy and soaked in the rich spicy sauce, which you can adjust the spicy level. It was so filling and addicting. The house braised beef burger was super tender. The meat was just falling apart after every bite. The stewed lamb soup took awhile to come out but was good as well. It's warm and comforting. I don't really recommend the lamb skewers since the meat felt a little dry. Same thing with the grilled steak Yogurt wrap. I ordered the Afandi Rose Tea and the Housemade Yogurt drink. They were both so good. The housemade yogurt is a must try for sure. Very different from the regular yogurt. Overall, I enjoyed my experience here and I would come back just for the Northwest rice noodles but I would also like to try more of their signature dish. I think their price is pretty reasonable too. We spent $130 tax and tip included for a party of 4.

I was hopeful that they were possibly just very busy at that moment. The parking lot is shared with several other businesses located in this plaza. There is disabled parking in front of the business, but the ramp is in front of Sauce on the Side next door. As I entered this casual spot, they were very busy on this Saturday night. You can place your order online or at the walk up counter. There were several people in front of me, but the line moved fast. The menu is on the board behind the counter and you can see some of the fresh items displayed. There are some tables inside the restaurant if you decide to stay. It seems that the majority of the people ordered takeout. I ordered the onion pakoda, which is similar to onion straws, and it was a huge serving, enough for 2-4 people. It was served warm and crispy. The onions were sweet and the fried batter had good flavor. I tried the weekend special, which were 3 vegetarian choices out of 5-6: Palak Paneer, Paneer Butter Masala and Eggplant curry. Rice or naan does not come with it. It costs extra. The garlic naan was fresh and flavorful. The Palak Paneer was adequate, mildly spiced, and about what I expected. The paneer butter masala was well-spiced and had a slight capsaicin kick. The eggplant curry was absolutely delicious and rather spicy. I'm glad I had a drink close by. This was a very good value as I had enough leftover for another meal.
