They seem very similar to Spirit in the way of cost and pricing set up. Everything is piece rate, so you want better boarding? Buy it. Want to choose your seat ahead of time? Buy it. Want a soda or snack on board? Buy that too. So the cost is no frills, just the flight, everything else is an add-on. It's not wildly expensive, but can add up quickly. The boarding process was beyond chaotic. The groups are massive, and once everyone lines up, the lines stretch well into the terminal depending on where your gate is. A few things I appreciated were the flight attendants keeping the luggage bins closed for the first few rows while boarding happens. They didn't open them until people in those rows began being seated. This and upon landing, they didn't allow the whole plane to stand up at once, they controlled this as well. Nice touches that I wish a few other airlines would adopt. Service was friendly and helpful at the gates and on board. Overall, a solid 3.5 as an airline overall. I wouldn't mind flying Volaris again when back in Mexico.

Fly with Viva or other airlines that travel to Mexico. I HATE YOU VOLARIS! La aerolínea VOLARIS es de lo peor. NO GASTEN SU DINERO CON ESTA AEROLÍNEA. To the contrary, a weather situation that was understandable turned into a series of unfortunate with a lot of miscommunication from the airline, bad attitude from staff, more delays due to airline fault this time, and no one to update the customers/passengers. What's started as a weather related cancelation of flight CM8650 leaving SAN on 1/2/26 at 8:16pm (understandable), turned into (not understandable): 1. Updated itinerary emailed to all at around 9:30pm on 1/2/26. Flight now leaving SAN on 1/3/26 at 10am 2. Once at the airport at 7:30am on 1/3 there's no attendant at the counter 3. At around 8:30am an attendant shows up saying the flight is at noon. No notification received 4. Check-in counter staff doesn't start checking in bags until 10am. Only one attendant 5. At 11:20am people are still being checked in 6. No one at gate 50 at 11:53am for a flight scheduled to leave at noon 7. No updates from staff NOTHING!!! It's not the fact that nature happened and the original flight was delayed. Its the poor management of the situation what's frustrating. Why treat customers like they don't matter?

Still love JetBlue!…read more The priority boarding extra leg space and TVs make it a great flight. The only issue is with this hub there seems to be more delays than leaving Boston. So far only 25 percent of my flights leave on time. From Boston not as single delay at all. Luckily I never had a flight get cancelled. On my last trip a majority of the TVs were not working. They kept restarting. I also had the worst passengers sitting in front of me. They took up Two rows and they were out of control the entire trip. They could not control their kids. It was horrible and like a scene from Outbreak. They kept coughing all over the place, they would also stand up on the seats and cough in your face. . Wouldn't doubt if it was the flu or something. The kids kept jumping on the seat and screaming and crying. They could not control the kids. The entire family manned 1 bathroom for like 1/2 the trip. At one point the father apologized to me because the kept throwing and losing crayons and the would end up in my row behind them. Why not control your kids instead? The was a nightmare flight. I was going to ask for another seat but didn't want to make a big deal of it. At one point the father kept knocking on the bathroom door when somone else was in there. You took up the bathroom the entire trip, maybe others now need to use it. I could hear other passengers complain about them but not sure if they said anything. This was like Romper Room and Daddy Day Care all mixed in one. I feel bad for anyone else that has to get on a plane with them. Ok my rant is over. Just wish a flight attendant woulda told them to relax. And keep seated. lol. Can't really blame JeTblue for the passengers so I'm giving this trip a 3.75 lol.

My boyfriend walked up and asked if we could be moved closer to the front of the plane given the circumstances and she waved him away without even looking at our itinerary. Told him the gates were close together in Boston. The plane had several open seats closer to the front, so this would not have been a burden on her. The flight attendant on the plane was much more helpful, and the pilot made an announcement that a few folks had extremely tight connections so please remain seated unless you were one of them. Every single person in economy stayed seated, but I guess the announcement didn't reach the privileged, self-centered folks in first, as they ALL stood up and a woman told my boyfriend to move so she could grab her luggage. He said no, and I explained we had an extremely tight connection. A man in an Aloha Brewing shirt barked at me that everyone had tight connections. He started becoming very irritated and the woman in front of him told him that it was too early in the day to fight me. So that was fun. I hope dude felt really good about himself for going off on a girl. Anyway, he said he was going to New York so I checked the flights to New York. His connection was not tight. He was just rude. I recognize this is unrelated commentary but it's helpful context in the grand scheme of my experience. Our connecting plane was nowhere near the gate when we disembarked, so we had to run through the airport to another part of Terminal C in Boston. A JetBlue agent there asked where we were running to and said she'd call the plane to ask them to hold it for us. They did. JetBlue in Boston was stellar. All's well that ends well in the end, and the FA/pilot really did save the day, but I really wish the gate agent in San Diego had cared even an ounce to help us as a touch of customer service would've gone a long way. It could've been a different outcome if economy hadn't acknowledged the pilot's announcement.

ALASKA AIRLINES @ SAN DIEGO AIRPORT…read more Departure honestly isn't too bad, especially if you're getting dropped off. I got dropped off around 7 AM, and while it was definitely busy, it felt manageable. From my experience, it really depends on the time you go, but most times I've been to the airport, it hasn't been too chaotic. This time I flew with Alaska Airlines. I'm usually a Delta person, but Alaska kind of won me over with their cheaper ticket pricing. Their drop-off area is one of the first when you enter the departure lane, so it's super convenient and quick to get out. That said, there were a lot of cars and the TSA line looked long, but surprisingly, it only took me about 15 minutes to get through. The terminal itself feels pretty small, low ceilings, a bit cramped, and not my favorite layout. However, the staff were friendly, and the process overall was smooth. I'd still say Delta is my go-to, but if you're flying Alaska, just make sure to go early in case there's traffic or longer lines.

Hubby and I were headed to Puerto Escondido, which is very expensive and very time-consuming to fly to from the airport in San Diego. However, flight prices and times were much more reasonable from Tijuana. Thanks to CBX, we didn't need to find anyone to cross the border and drive us directly to the airport, especially as our flight departed at 5:40 AM. It was nice to have an easy drop off on this side of the border. Anyway, we were dropped off on the US side, and had pre-purchased CBX tickets online for $50 per person, round trip. I felt that the price was very fair for the staffing and amenities along the way. We had already reserved a rideshare to drive us to CBX, but I saw the secure parking lots and realized that parking there is also a valid, safe option. It appeared that some of the secured parking cost about $30 per day, making it a good option depending how may days you would like to park your car. Anyway, when we entered, there were people guiding us, as it wasn't too crowded at that early hour. You scan your CBX ticket, your boarding pass, and your passport. Then you are able to walk through the barriers. There are escalators and elevators to get to the bridge, and signs stating that there is assistance available for people with disabilities. The bridge was clean and air-conditioned. We walked through customs just prior to entering the Tijuana airport. When I had learned about CBX, I was reluctant. A friend of mine told me that she had walked much further in various airports. It is true. The walk is short and easy Upon coming back to the states, we learned that there were several taco and other food trucks on the US side of CBX, as well as Starbucks and a well-known mall pretzel company. All in all, I am grateful to have a way to access the TJ airoprt in a very easy and affordable way. I plan to continue to use CBX for more affordable flights south of the border.

I used CBX to fly from TIJ to San Miguel Allende 10 years ago, and recently to Cancun. Both times were uneventful, exactly how I like my airport experiences to be. Upon arrival, scan your CBX ticket and boarding pass (you can link them and just scan boarding pass as well, but don't need to). Same on the way back.
