My husband and I had PlugPV install solar panels on our house late December, 2023. Our contact…read moreperson was Matthew Gaudin, who designed the system and was involved every step of the way. The crew came early on a snowy day.  The lead man needed access to our electric panel in the house.  He consulted with us on where we'd like the solar meter outside our house and answered any questions we had. Anytime an installer needed to come inside, they were polite, respectful of our home and took off their boots. When the installation was completed, our property was thoroughly cleaned up. I have had a good amount of time to evaluate the effectiveness of the panels.  We began to produce energy immediately.  Of course, when the days are longer, the energy produced is more, but the months of February and March were producing a good amount of energy as well.  My electric bill for the month of April was only $19, and it has since continued to be only $19 each month. We are saving enough energy for the darker winter months, and I expect to have low electric costs due to the high production of the summer months We are very happy with PlugPV, the installation and the resulting energy savings. Don't hesitate to call Matthew Gaudin. He helped us and several other families in my town. He can be reached at: 518-410-9682

My husband has been wanting solar to be installed for years but being busy and all the other things…read morein our budget we never got around to it. This year was the year. We had solar installed in November. The process was seamless and received a quote and agreement with PlugPV after we tried to go local with business but after the local business 'made a mistake' with the quote we decided to go with the business out of Troy. The team from sales to install were fantastic. Even after installation they stopped by to drop off an Amazon and Starbucks gift card as a thank you for doing business. So far so good and we are very happy we decided to go with PlugPv.

The Solar Community is a solar company headquartered in Watertown, NY, but they also have an office…read morein Colonie. They don't currently have any reviews on Yelp for the solar services they provide. This is about how they contact residents in the area, and the information they may or may not be sharing with you. One of their reps came to my door late yesterday evening (I'm always initially suspicious of someone who solicits after 6pm, but that's just me). He asked me if I was getting my CDG (Community Distributed Generation) credit on my National Grid bill, making it sound like it was something I was supposed to be getting. I verified I was not. It wasn't until I asked him if he was a National Grid employee that he told me he worked for The Solar Community (he was wearing a badge and gave me a business card). The business and the process are legit, the method of advertising/contact is ineffective. Things he never mentioned: This is not something you automatically get, you only get this if you apply for it with a solar company. There is no indication of whether there is a cost to apply or join. I don't know whether the lack of information conveyed was deliberate or whether this person was new at the job. I consider the information I was given misleading at best and slightly deceptive at worst. I also think that an inexpensive flyer delivered in my mail touting the benefits of CDG would reach more people than paying individuals to go house to house, especially if they can't - or don't - provide meaningful information..
