We have nothing but good things to say about our dealings with Kasselman Solar. We had a solar system installed with 10 panels. The person who gave us our quote was knowledgeable and experienced, treated us like adults, and didn't try to sell us more solar panels than we needed. I had done my research beforehand and the quote was right on the mark. They also included an electrical panel upgrade, which we needed, and was smart because since it's included as part of a solar install, it qualifies for the same tax credits. The install was basically done in one day plus an hour or two, solar panels, electrical panels and all. After the third party inspection and meter replacement by the power company, we were up in running about 8 days after the install. So far, so good. The panels are producing more power than we need (see attached chart) which is good because we will have to bank credits to use in the summer. The only thing is that we weren't warned that the power would be down fora few hours because of the electrical panel upgrade. But that is such a "duh" thing I should've realized on my own, I am not deducting a star because of it.

    This is just one example

2 1/2 years later, my roof is still leaking. Do not hire this contractor There is a total of 15 leaks with multiple attempts to fix the leaks in some cases making the leak worse. There are a total of 15 leaks. Multiple attempts to fix the leaks and all failed In some cases making the leak worse. These guys are horrible! DO NOT HIRE THEM YOU WILL REGRET IT Check your attic at the Spring Thaw this is always the worst time for leaks

    This was "complete" per Kasselman.

Consumer... contact me, I will be happy to discuss our experience. Biggest REGRET relative to our home that we have been gradually updating. 4/2/23 - this review is being edited based upon the owner's BS response to my initial review. I could tell you how sleazy I found this company to be, or what a nightmare the entire project is, but I'll just provide the facts based off of my emails to the owner which were never replied to. Funny how he responds when it's made public (case in point as to sleazy?). Funny how they are so quick to show up with the sale but then disappear without constant prodding. Aug 26, 2021 - email to company owner, Steve Kasselman: I am quite concerned about the installation of the solar panels on our home due to the continued unprofessional behavior of your company employees. I emailed the following to Alex (our supposed project manager) on August 19th but never received a response from him: The gentlemen that were here today need to come back because, how I understand it, they weren't provided the tools in order to finish the job. I would like to know why they weren't provided with the materials they needed for the three lines coming from my roof, rather than two. I would also like to know why I wasn't told that I would be without power for 6-7 hours, more than a day in advance. I had just filled my freezer with frozen specialty foods which I now don't trust. I had a tooth pulled yesterday else I would have bought ice and prepped the food in order to save it - if I had been told going in that the power would be off for such an extended period of time, I would have also made plans to ensure that I didn't lose an entire day of work. Awaiting your response. My email to Alex was after my call to him get his his staff to stop shouting obscenities from my roof, which my neighbors could also undoubtedly hear. I was very embarrassed to have to yell up to grown men to cease the loud usage of the f word, etc. The inspector came today and told me that he will advise your company that there are loose wires that are freely hanging from the solar panels. Why are there loose wires? What else is loose up there? I can't possibly get on my roof to look and wouldn't know what I was looking at anyhow. When will the wires be fixed? I complained to Jay the last day that he was here that the way my downstairs kitchenette was left after their "handy-work" in installing new wiring and panel was inexcusable. See attached photos [showing gouges in my walls, etc.]. His response was that he isn't a taper, and that he would tell the company about it but I have heard from no one. Who is going to come and fix my wall??? We have put over $150k in this house in improvements the past two years and refuse to allow this damage to sit. Also, your boys left their thank you mess on the window sill and ground outside. Thanks for another show of sloppy work. Again - how do I know the solar panels are installed correctly? The inspector didn't climb up on the roof. I called the office several times to speak with Steve Kasselman but was always told he was not there. On one instance, I was told he was on a job site in Florida but an hour later one of his employees unknowingly let me know that he was just speaking with Steve in the office LOCALLY, in person. Sept 29, 2021 - we were told that our brand new, freshly installed battery for backup electricity was no good. Much more to tell but character limit. STEER CLEAR!

I think this is the work of a kasselman employee

We had solar installed in November. The process was seamless and received a quote and agreement with PlugPV after we tried to go local with business but after the local business 'made a mistake' with the quote we decided to go with the business out of Troy. The team from sales to install were fantastic. Even after installation they stopped by to drop off an Amazon and Starbucks gift card as a thank you for doing business. So far so good and we are very happy we decided to go with PlugPv.

My salesman misinformed me about how the 30 percent incentive worked. It was my under that these usually only furnish a deduction. He assured me multiple times that I would get a check from the government and I could pay off a big chunk of my loan. WRONG. I can't believe I didn't do more research. Horrified at my laxness but we were rushing to get in before the incentives went away and someone I know in the industry had recommended these guys. And oh, yeah, the installers punched a hole in an upstairs ceiling. Ultimately the company took responsibility for that, but compared to the overpriced solar that doesn't produce enough to make it cost effective I'd say that's a minor note. Stay away from these shysters.

ALL FOLKS LOOKING TO INSTALL SOLAR PANELS BEWARE! PLEASE READ THIS…read more First off, let me explain my rating. We had AEC Solar/Energy install solar panels on our home in 2020. Everything the salesman told us was TRUE! We stayed negotiating with them (after a lengthy search of solar companies) in April 2020 with installation in December 2020. During our negotiations, we had concerns about the roof as we had purchased the home just two years prior and had no idea as to its age. We were told not to worry that they had an EXPERT who inspected the roofs because they would not put panels on a roof that would not last for a minimum of 20 years. We questioned at that point as to what would happen IF we had a problem with the roof. Our salesman assured us that the inspection of the roof would be sufficient, he contacted the office to be sure and told us that if we did have a problem that we would be allowed a one time only fee of $1,000 to remove the panels, stack them on-site along with the rails and put them back on. Skip ahead to 2025, and all of the rain we've had, all of a sudden we had our roof fail. So we start calling roofers to come and repair the problem. Lo and behold, EVERY roofer that came told us that the roof was at the end of its life! That it was 25-30 years old. We had no reason to inspect the roof, not that we'd know what to look for, so they took photos and showed us the "nail pops" that had been covered in tar all over the roof. These would have been there when AEC's roof inspector looked at the roof prior. The roofers also went into the attic to show us the leaks that were there from the nail pops. The roofers said that we would have to have the panels taken off. Of course we said "no problem, we have an agreement to remove them for $1,000 and put them back on. I call AEC and they said that they never agreed to that and wouldn't be able to do it for the original price. I quickly called the salesman (who now works for another solar company) and I asked him how much it was to remove and reinstall the panels, he said $1,500, I said oh, ok, having remembered it wrong. AEC claimed it was NEVER their policy! They continued to quote me $17,000 less $4K or $5K for a previous customer discount. Everything that we had saved over the past five years would have been gone and then some. The salesman contacted AEC directly and said "Yes, that's what I told them, if anyone had asked, that was the fee". In the meantime, I went back and forth with the folks at AEC and they said that the lowest they could do was $8,000 to remove and reinstall the panels! I said that I was going to write a new review simply telling the FACTS of what happened, they asked me to wait, which I did. Weeks later actually a couple of months, I believe. I have continued to be strung along, so I decided it was time to ALERT ALL SOLAR BUYERS! Apparently the rule of thumb is NOW $400+ PER PANEL TO REMOVE AND REINSTALL THESE PANELS! I asked if they AEC was telling their customers this, unless you ask they may not convey that information. BTW, we had 44 panels installed by AEC!
