Nice place, the gift shop and separate bath house (has showers) are well-maintained. Plenty of parking. It was 'pirate day' and the guides were dressed up as was our guide, Dawn. She was fun, cool, and knowledgeable. My friends and I just had a great time taking on the rapids and she knew just what do our whole trip. But definitely recommended. We really have enjoyed camping here in past years and getting to paddle both of the near by rivers. We absolutely love the BUS. The only complaint we have is that Friday and Saturday are live music nights that end at midnight as well as the bar being open until then too. Be PREPARED to return to your camp and to be totally silent. No laughing or sitting around the fire to talk. We were threatened with the police both nights. Once by another anal camper that just had to get up early and then Saturday by the bar girl. I will return with my group only if we are not going to camp. Can you really expect people to wind down in silence at midnight when the bar and the music is over at midnight as well? Maybe close it down at 11pm..... read more

A Half Off Depot deal led my friends and I to a white water rafting trip on the Ocoee River in Tennessee. From Atlanta, the drive to Adventures Unlimited in Ocoee was about 2 hours. If you are using a GPS or Google Maps, the directions may put you on some farmland behind the AU property. It's best to use the directions on AU's web site (http://www.adventuresunlimited.net/Direction.aspx). We were part of the 10am Saturday morning group. The weather was sunny and about 70 degrees at that time. The 9am group had rented out all 70 wet suits (at $7 per). In addition to the HOD deal, there was a $3 surcharge for each person (waiver fee). We each grabbed a life jacket, helmet, and paddle from the woodshed and piled onto old yellow school buses which drove us to the entry point. The bus ride was about 10-15 minutes. The guides unloaded the rafts from the top of the buses and then everyone split into groups of up to 6 people per raft. Our guide, Russ, gave us a safety briefing and basic instructions on how to raft. We had a few minutes to test out the raft in the upper portion of the river before heading down a ramp where the real fun began. I went barefoot on my trip, but I wouldn't recommend it. It's best to wear water shoes. Some of the walking involves carrying the heavy raft over gravel and it will be painful for your feet if you don't have shoes on. I'd advise against flip-flops unless you are sure you won't fall into the water. Otherwise, you can easily lose them. The weather was perfect on our trip. There was not a cloud in the sky and the river and surrounding scenery was picturesque and beautiful. The ride lasted about 2 hours, but we had so much fun, it felt like it lasted only 30 minutes. Every now and then, Russ would stop our raft and we would take breaks. As he told us during the safety briefing, we signed up for a sport, not for a leisurely ride down the river. With 6 people in our raft, we did not have to exert ourselves too much while paddling. We were able to get out of the raft and swim at one point. The water was cold, but our bodies adjusted quickly. It was fun letting the current of the river sweep us away. The rapids were Class 3 and 4 rapids. There were some pretty intense dips, but nothing too insane. Nobody fell out of our raft. Russ also let us take turns riding the bull (sitting at the very tip of the raft) which was pretty exciting. At the end of our trip, the buses were waiting for us. We loaded back on and went back to AU. AU has hot showers, but you'll have to bring your own soap, shampoo, towel, etc. Definitely bring a change of clothes. Inside the AU store, you can check out photos they've snapped of you. Alternatively, you can go to AU's web site and look at them there. All in all, I had a very good time. read more

Our guide Dustin was a COMPLETE ASSHOLE!! The other guides practiced with the people in their raft to paddle in unison, our guide didn't then was getting aggravated when we didn't paddle together. At one point we stopped near the riverbank, one of the people in our party briefly took off his helmet to clean his glasses. Dustin being the asshole he was showing himself to be told him in a snarky "Imma need you to put your helmet back on". Wasn't what he said, but how he said it. It's not as if he took it off while rafting down the river. Another person may have paddle three times when he said two and something which seemed to be so insignificant led to Dustin making another snarky remark. At one point we got stuck on a rock. Dustin climbed on the rock to help us get free. He appeared to slip between the rock and the raft after we were free from it. Instinctively I grabbed the straps of his PFD to pull him in. In turn he aggressively and loudly yelled "don't grab me"! I was quite surprised firstly to see that trying to help someone would result in you being yelled at and secondly who the hell he thought he was yelling at another adult like that. At this point everyone got quiet and we were all ready for it to be over. What turned out to be a birthday celebration quickly turned into a miserable two hours floating on a raft down the Ocoee. I came with a group of three other guys on a mild adventure trip. We arrived Friday evening and eight at their restaurant, drink at their bar, and listen to the band they played. It was all excellent. Accommodations were not much but they were everything that was needed. Saturday we did the adventure with Kyle as our immediate guide and he did a fantastic job. We only did the lower portion of the Ocoee River which took about an hour and a half to go the 5 miles. Everything up to class 4 Rapids. We were ready for a little more and a little wilder, but everyone had a great time. A good adventure that's not too crazy but a lot of fun. read more

Frankie is the GOAT! Best raft guide ever. Can't beat 4 years of experience and the chillest guy in the world. He spun our raft and got our raft to do cool tricks that other rafts just couldn't do (or worse they'd just get stuck). This was our second time using this company. This time we got Eric as our guide and we did the whole Ocoee River. At first Eric seemed to be a joker but once we got on the river he was very serious . Even though we were the only raft with only four people we did great. I felt safe throughout the whole trip . None of us fell out the raft except my husband when he was riding the bull lol but he wanted to fall out . He asked if we wanted to flip out and I said no way my husband and youngest son wanted too. So he told us anyone that didn't want to fall out drop down. Our friends went as well with Josh lemon as their guide two people fell out their raft. My friend actually got sucked under the raft and hurt her tailbone . She's fine just a little sore and bruised up. Josh is a great guide we had him last time . We saw a few people calling out the rafts ! One person floated way down the river they didn't catch the throw ropes. Not sure which raft company that was though lol. We did the deluxe trip which included lunch. They had Philly cheesesteaks ,pasta salad, coleslaw , chips, and banana pudding with sweet tea . The only complaint I have is the bathrooms where you eat are TERRIBLE with all the money from all the different raft companies these bathrooms should be much better. I almost puked like 3 times trying to use the bathroom. It's awful you can smell them before you even go in them!! If we ever go back we will probably stick to rafting only the middle it's where most of the good rapids are and it doesn't take up your whole day. We really enjoyed the whitewater rafting both times! We bought a groupon for this amazing company to raft the middle Ocoee . We arrived at the place and changed into our whitewater gear. There is a nice amount of space to change and use the bathroom . They have a nice size shop as well. They came out and gave us all the instructions of what to do and what not to do. Then they separated into groups and told us who are guides were going to be. We got a paddle , helmet and life jacket. Then we all boarded the bus and headed to a drop spot . Once we arrived we got off and met our guide which was Josh Lemon but honestly his name didn't matter since my group already agreed to call him Larry! They like the Impractical Jokers and Joe always runs around screaming Larry when there is no Larry! Oh poor guide but even though my group renamed him he played along. We carried our raft out into the water and our adventure started . I was the only one who had been whitewater rafting before. You really can't count me either since I was 11 when I went lol! Our guide had been working as a guide for over 20 years. We felt safe and had a lot of fun doing all types of cool tricks. Many rafters were falling out but we all stayed in our raft. He showed us how to tell whether the water was deep or shallow. Now our group wants to eventually go back and do the whole Ocoee River with him as our guide! read more

This was my second time rafting with Adventures Unlimited, each time it has been a great experience! This year we did the short trip. Checking in with the office was quick and painless thanks to the friendly staff. They even directed my friend to a selection of reasonably priced water shoes when he forgot his own. Once we grabbed the paddle, life jacket and helmet that were provided we climbed into the bus. Sit on the passenger side on the way up for the best views! Maybe 10 minutes later you arrive and go through a quick lesson in white water rafting. Very informative and not overwhelming to newbies. Our guide Levi was fantastic, he asked the group if we wanted it mild or wild. And he gave us just what we asked for- lots of splash, bumps and adventure. He was willing to throw in to make our trip what we wanted. In the last effort to do so he went overboard, taking two of us with him. It was amazing! Makes the story telling after even better ;) My only trip regret was going at 4:30, it meant I couldn't get back on the bus and go back for more. So this was probably our 5th or 6th time to go whitewater rafting with Adventures Unlimited on the Ocoee River. This has been our best trip to date. We brought another couple with us who had never been before and we all had a blast. Coming from the Blue Ridge, GA area about an hour away, this company is easy to find on Hwy 74. Check-in was quick and easy. After the mandatory safety talk and grabbing our gear, we were on the bus to head up to the put-in location. Our trip was down the Middle Ocoee section in the afternoon and the weather was perfect. Josh Lemon was our guide and he was fantastic. He was very well-spoken and enthusiastic. His knowledge of rafting history on the Ocoee was extensive and he also took the time to explain some points on how to "read" the water as we went along (Thank you, Josh!). We are definitely going to ask for him next time. When you go, be sure to not only enjoy the water, but also the beautiful mountain views as you travel down the river. I think many are so excited by what's going in the water that they forget to actually look around at the scenery. All in all, this was our best trip so far with Adventures Unlimited. We (and the other couple) are excited for our next trip down the Ocoee River! read more

We had an absolute blast at AU! The entire team made the experience fun but kept it professional too. Alycia was by far one of the best guides I've had. Most of the boat was unexperienced, but that didn't phase the seasoned pro, Alycia. She made sure everyone felt comfortable and at ease throughout the trip. She shared some great knowledge about the area and made sure we knew what to expect during the next rapid. We did have one person fall out, but Alycia was quick to make sure she was okay and give her instructions on what to do to get back to the boat. The guest was able to get back and on board with a big smile on her face. I'd also like it to be known that during one "boring" rapid, we span in circles going through it to make it more interesting. But that wasn't enough. Alycia did an actual headstand WHILE we were spinning through the rapid. And not like a wimpy up for two seconds headstand. Her legs were straight up in the air with incredible form, through the entire rapid. Who does that?! It was awesome! I just wish it was a photo spot. It deserves to be seen. I seriously can't thank Alycia and the whole AU crew enough for making it such a fun and safe experience. read more

Great trip down the Ocoee River. Our river guide was experienced and made the trip fun and easy. Adventures Unlimited has good facilities, equipment and a knowledgable staff. The food however was not good. They were out of almost everything and what they did have was dried out and inedible. We ended up throwing it all away. We have been wanting to go rafting for several years now but honestly I was very apprehensive. Ended up booking with AU and came on 7-28-18. Our guide was Casey Casteel. I could never say enough good things about Casey. He made me feel comfortable and at ease. He's extremely knowledgeable. He knew exactly what to do to keep us safe and still have an amazing time. We never had to "hit the deck" because he knew how to guide us through every drop and turn. Casey was a great communicator and we never wondered what was next. We also stayed in the Driftwood bungalow. It was clean and exactly what we needed after a few hours on the river. That night we ate at the Bus Bar. It was clean and staff was very friendly. My husband had the pizza, one son had wings, our other son and I both had burgers. The food was hot and everything was fresh. Everything we had was great! The bar was clean and had a laid back atmosphere. If you're still reading this haha my only complaint was that we had to leave. We will be back very soon and fingers crossed that Casey will be available! read more

I have tried other rafting companies and this one has been by far the best experience i've had. Our guide, Josh L., was so great. During the trip he was so informative about the history of TVA and how they use the river for power which i loved. He was also so informative about the different routes in which we could take down the river and gave everyone a great experience while also not making anyone do something they weren't comfortable with. I recently went on a half day whitewater rafting trip with my husband. Donny was an awesome guide and whitewater rafting on the Ocoee was definitely one of the highlights of our Tennessee getaway. I don't think either of us stopped smiling the whole time! Adventures Unlimited provided safety equipment and training as well as a hot shower and changing area when we returned to base. We got our equipment and boarded a bus for the ~20 minute drive to the starting location, and then we're picked up by the bus further downriver. We really enjoyed our time at Adventures Unlimited! We came from Atlanta and we're supposed to be on the 1:30 trip. It was 7 of us and only 2 called and reserved early. When we called this morning, they didn't have available appointments but Brylie was very accommodating and told us we could all do the 4:30. Over the phone, she was extremely patient. She took 5 payments and honored our Groupons. I was really impressed by how she handled everything. We arrive right at 1:30 and a gentleman said if we wanted to, we could do the 1:30(I assume some people didn't show up) but we didn't have everyone there in our party so we just decided to wait. Kyle was our tour guide and he was PHENOMENAL! He had a great sense of humor and handled our group of 7 dramatic girlies with such professionalism. We were sad to leave once it was over.
