As a local, I loved discovering new spots and hidden gems I had never thought to check out before. It was also such a fun way to learn more about the history of our community while supporting the local businesses that make Grass Valley so special. Both tours were incredibly well organized. Each stop was accompanied by a brief bit of local history and a perfectly timed bite to eat. From sweet to savory and everything in between, there's a great variety throughout the tour. This would be such a fun experience for a group of friends, couples, a family gathering, or even just a date! We attended the second tour with just the two of us and really enjoyed meeting the other guests along the way. I'm already looking forward to exploring Nevada City on my next tour. This is definitely an experience I'd love to do again and would highly recommend to both travelers and locals looking for a fun way to spend an afternoon!

Heidi is sweet and clearly knowledgeable -- we learned so much local history along the way. The food was amazing, and the tour introduced us to brand new spots we'd never tried, plus new dishes at places we already frequent regularly. Wendy was a great addition too, keeping everything running smoothly and sharing her own great tidbits along the route. Highly recommend this for locals who want to see their town through fresh eyes, or for entertaining out-of-town guests. We'll definitely be booking again, and we're excited to hear they're launching a Nevada City tour next

The location was fantastic--right in the heart of town, with plenty of local restaurants, charming shops, and boutiques all within walking distance. We stayed in a king room with an incredibly comfortable bed and a cute little courtyard just outside our room, which was such a nice touch. The room had everything we needed, including fresh-ground coffee to brew--not the typical packaged hotel coffee--which we really appreciated. And the complimentary breakfast was amazing! Fresh-made omelets with real eggs and your choice of delicious ingredients like bacon and fresh vegetables, along with an impressive selection of fresh fruit including bananas, kiwi, and grapefruit. There were also plenty of breads, oats, cereals, and other breakfast choices. We were only able to stay for one night, but we honestly wished we could have stayed longer. The Courtyard Suites was comfortable, welcoming, conveniently located, and exceeded our expectations. If you find yourself visiting Grass Valley, I would absolutely recommend making Courtyard Suites your place to stay. We certainly will on our next visit!

However, the detachment of the employees and the seeming inability to connect with guests is a little offputting for the price. The front desk staff rarely make eye contact and don't smile at all, but get the job done. Perhaps this is true to historic character? Our room had two double beds and was surprisingly large. We visited during the heat of the summer, but the air conditioning worked well and we were comfortable when in our room and throughout the hotel. However, there is no mirror in the bedroom - only the bathroom mirror and there is very little counter space, only the nightstand in the room. No counter space in the bathroom, either. If you would like ice in your room. You must go down to the bar and request it from one of the bartenders when the bar is open. Not very convenient. The hotel has wonderful historic charm with various sitting areas both inside and out. Along with the jurors c charm comes no elevators, so bear that in mind when packing. The parking lot behind the hotel enters on the second level, which can be helpful when checking in. I don't think we will stay here again, particularly for the price, but it was a fun experience for the "historical" setting.

It felt like a small furnished apartment. There were thoughtful touches throughout. Everything we needed was provided. Our only issue was the fact that the bedrooms had no AC, meaning we had to keep our doors open to get air from the main living space. Not a big deal, even in a heatwave. We paid $200 for one night and it felt fair the apartment we were in. If you need modern updates like granite countertops or a lobby store with snacks, go somewhere else. If you appreciate all your basic needs being met humbly, I recommend this place to you.

The only issue was that the window above the bed had no window screen and the window in the "kitchen " alcove had no window covering. A street runs right outside this window thus a privacy curtain is needed. A very easy walk to the old town center with lots of tourist trap shops and a few nice eateries.
